Chapter 36: The frog

I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to go dungeon delving again. The thing is that uncommon dungeons are labeled as being level 40, so there's no way whatsoever that I'm going to go after one of those yet, especially not alone. Fortunately, I can just find myself a common dungeon, which will hopefully serve to get me at least a few levels, even if it obviously won't be as valuable as the last one was. I'm fine with a cakewalk right now. Well, it'll probably still be dangerous if I get careless, but it's not going to be anything like last time.

Ultimately, I'm just not prepared to risk revealing myself to Salem's forces yet, and so fighting in dungeons is my only option. Plus, fighting anything other than Grimm might be nearly pointless unless I stumble across a quest, because it's not like I'm prepared to kill anyone outside of the most extreme circumstances and I don't know if I get exp for beating someone without killing them.

Looking around in the dungeon map, I've actually unlocked the ability to see what types of terrain and enemies dungeons will have, along with options that will let me increase the difficulty in exchange for rewards. As it turns out, there's a common rarity dungeon with a theme of "mines" somewhere on Beacon's grounds. Meaning, I might be able to get some useful metals out of there, hopefully. It turns out those stags from before were actually dropping the occasional cut of venison into my inventory, and I never noticed because of the lack of notifications and just how cluttered my inventory already is.

Before I do that though, I really need to make some more geomancy spells. I'm still not good enough for my more complex ideas, but I can make some more basic versions of them.

Spell Added: Tremor

The earth under the feet of the target becomes unstable, prone to shaking and unbalancing them at the least opportune moments.

MP:123

Duration:1 minute

Range:5m

Spell added: Bind

Chains spring up from below and attempt to shackle their target to the ground.

MP:97

Range:1m

Spell added: Geolocation

Resonate sound waves through the ground to gain a sense of what is present within the spell radius.

Range:2m

MP:50/sec

Yeah, those are some nice little debuffs and disable spells. As much as aoe and raw damage goes, geomancy is admittedly a bit lacking, but the damage of my more basic spells scales well enough that it's not that bad. I should be ready to take on another common dungeon.

-----------

It was pretty easy after all. The enemies in the dungeon were pretty much all rock monsters, clearly built around the fact that having a body made out of stone would make you pretty resistant to most kinds of attacks. However, with magic missiles I could bypass that resistance pretty easily, and most things died pretty easily. The end result is that I've gotten a good bunch of arcana practice, but basically no dagger or geomancy experience. I didn't get nearly as many levels as I did last time either, but I got the same number of credits and one fewer gacha crystals, which is good. The number of crystals for clearing the area had gone down, I think because I was either overleved or because I'd already done a common dungeon before. And a bunch of miscellaneous common metals as loot drops from the enemies, which will be handy once I have engineering.

Most importantly, I didn't get traumatized this time.

From the gacha, I manage to get a hardback copy of the Lord of the Rings complete trilogy, a perk, and the Ring of Transmutation, which is a complete misnomer, because it doesn't actually transmute anything. It increases my mana regen by 50% and mana pool by 10%, which is actually pretty insane and I'm wearing it permanently from now on. The thing about the perk, however, is that it's a negative one.

Perk: Reckless Defender

You are determined to protect people, so much that you'll often do so through reckless, impractical, poorly thought out, or just plain dangerous means.

It's... a fair assessment, honestly, although it does make me worry a little bit. I really prefer to have careful, cunning plans when I can, I swear I do. I just sort of keep getting taken by surprise and I feel like I need to get stronger pretty urgently.

Once I get my armor, I feel like I'll be reasonably prepared to take on an uncommon dungeon. What's more, this delve has taught me that if I can pick the right kind of dungeon theme, it can potentially be an opportunity to deliberately face enemies who will be vulnerable to the types of magic that I have. I need to keep going to dungeons if I'm going to be ready to challenge Salem's people in time, because I expect that Cinder is going to be at least level 75, and with magic she'll be even more dangerous than her pure level would reflect.

When I get back home, I go ahead and check in on my copper plants, even though I've already got some copper I can use for runecarving from the dungeon. They've grown into large sprouts at this point, and in the process they've also consumed all the mana I put in the soil, so I go ahead and add some more before I get to work on more advanced runecarving.

Arcana getting as high as it is now has given me a pretty good understanding of the meanings of the runes I've been using so far, individually as well as the context in which they're used. So far, when I've tried to inscribe a healing spell onto something, the runecrafting skill has just not done anything, without telling me why.

As it turns out, one of the reasons behind that is that I don't know enough about biology to successfully use or make a healing spell. The thing is that you can't just shove magic into someone and expect the magic to heal them. In order to inscribe a healing spell, it would need to contain what is effectively a kind of magical "program" that will direct the healing to occur through any possible injury. Essentially, a complete and adaptable magical blueprint of what the bodies of the people who are using it are supposed to be like, which would be far more intricate than I could possibly fit onto a spellstone right now, not to mention that I lack the medical knowledge.

This. Is a problem. I do not like it.

How am I supposed to spam heals if I can't make anything that'll heal me? If RPGs have taught me one thing, it's that heals are an absolutely essential part of any kind of high level boss fight. I mean, I can buy health potions in the credit store, but it's really not an option right now, not when I need to save up so much to resurrect Summer.

Maybe once I have engineering I'll be able to make nanotech that can heal me, but that would still be gradual healing, not a large burst of instantaneous recovery, which is far more valuable, even when it's consumable. In that regard, my best bet is to get either alchemy or healing magic, but both of those are going to take a really long time to get around to, given my current plans.

Basically, I need to grind the absolute fuck out my production skills right now. Hopefully the copper and my new levels and higher arcana skill will be enough to reach the maximum level in runecraft, because stone was actually a really bad vessel for mana. I think the most mana conductive material I could possibly find on Remnant would be dust-infused metal, which would be way too expensive to use to grind out very much. Just under that would be a precious metal like gold, which would still be too expensive. Curiously enough about the matter of mana conductivity, it's not actually the mass of the material that matters, only the surface area, but even using hollow gold spheres could never possibly be profitable, given how thick the gold would need to be.

So it's with a sigh that I set an alarm for when I need to make myself lunch and get to work.

-----------

"I was wrong about Sil." Qrow admits with a sigh, running his hand through his messy hair. It's been a busy few days, and he's still trying to come to terms with the apparent fact that his semblance isn't really endangering his family.

"In what way?" Ozpin's eyes immediately sharpen, his hot coco momentarily forgotten.

"Not that she's not huntress material. But," Qrow hesitates, not sure how much he wants to share, "as a person. She's not put together at all. Really, I'm pretty sure that she's just another hurt kid." They've already taken in so many of those kids, here at Beacon. What's one more? One who just so happens to have inexplicable knowledge and impossible magic. "I don't think we need to worry about her."

"Salem has managed to recruit a number of people who were once mere hurt children in our long history. Given her potential, we can't afford to neglect her entirely, even if she doesn't wish to work with us directly." Ozpin sighs regretfully.

"I'm not saying we ignore her, but is the constant surveillance really necessary?"

"I simply worry about her ability to survive should she be discovered, by her own admission she is quite weak. Unless that has changed."

"She's stronger than she was before. Significantly. I'd say she's already getting somewhat close to being able to fight Ruby, and that's without using anything from her little bag of tricks."

"I suppose that is an assurance that she could defend herself adequately against the common thug, at least." Ozpin says, drumming his fingers against his desk. "Very well, I'd like you to take a trip to Mistral anyway."

"What do I need to go to Mistral for?" Qrow raises an eyebrow?

"The background checks on Sil's four suspects came back. Cinder Fall and Polly Politan have no record of existing, and are clearly fake identities. Mercury Black has a reliable birth record, but essentially disappeared at the age of fifteen, and is suspected of his father's murder. Emerald Sustrai ran away from an orphanage at the age of fourteen, and hasn't been heard from since." Ozpin sighs heavily. "By all appearances, Leo has in fact betrayed us, and I need you to learn how he was turned, see if we can't flip him back once we've secured Cinder Fall and the others. But by no means should you give away that we know about this until you've managed to remove whatever they must be holding over his head."

"Alright." Qrow nods. Somehow, he doesn't think Leo is that likely to come back to them.

-----------

"I've identified your woman, and I must say Roman, I'm intrigued. She's quite the mystery."

"Is that so?" Roman drawls carelessly into the receiver, his voice laced with sarcasm and feigned disinterest. "Such a mystery that it would be better to describe her as a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a breakfast burrito, perhaps?"

His contact laughs derisively. "She's a proper citizen of Vale, she has all the usual civilian documents and such, but it's all obviously fake. She has absolutely no paper trail of any kind, no bank records, no employment, she obviously only created her current identity a little over a week ago. What's curious, however, is that there's no record of her existing under any kind of previously existing identity."

"Interesting. She's a ghost then." People like that can be valuable, even if they are associated with someone like Qrow Branwen.

"Something like that. I've sent you her current address, and her name is Sil Marilis."

"Whatever." Roman hangs up, unwilling to deal with this man any longer than absolutely necessary. A casual glance at the address and-what the hell? That's the place connected to one of his safehouses. He rents the place out because the house itself is isolated and has an above ground entrance, but is this really a coincidence? It makes for three very strange occurrences, and as far as he's concerned, that means enemy action.

He needs to know what the hell is up with this kid, so he makes a call. "Doug, I've got a job for you and your brother."

-----------

I'm not entirely sure how many days pass before I get a call that my armor is ready. It's hard to keep track of that kind of thing when I'm doing essentially the same thing all day every day with only minimal breaks to eat and let people know that I'm not dead, I'm just desperately working myself to the bone because I'm a little bit terrified that I might not be ready. Luckily, the copper plants grow spheres of copper at steady rates, and I can just harvest those spheres and use them without already having ferromancy.

"Hey!" Someone suddenly shouts as I'm working on a copper spellstone after having already gotten back from picking up my armor, making me jump at least two feet in the air.

"Ahhhh!" I shudder briefly, before turning to look at the newcomer and glaring at them. It's Yang, somehow. "How'd you get in here?"

"Your door was unlocked." Yang points her thumb upwards and in the general direction of the front door. "I locked it behind me."

It wasn't unlocked, actually. I just keyed the lock to the detection ward I set up over there so that it will open itself for authorized people. Right now those people are RBY and Qrow.

"Okay." I tilt my head curiously. "So, not that I'm complaining, but why are you here?"

"Can't one hot girl just casually come visit another hot girl because she wants to?" Yang says with a wink.

I suddenly realize that my feet are really interesting and decide to keep my gaze fixated on them as I blush. I am so not used to being complimented by girls, and it really shows. "I mean, yes, but I don't really think that's the reason why."

"Okay, you got me. I'm here to run away from Weiss."

I look back up at that, my curiosity piqued. "What did you do?"

"I swapped the sugar in her sugar bowl out for salt. I even got a picture of her expression when she took a sip of tea, it was fantastic." She grins, seemingly proud of the accomplishment.

"You didn't." My eyes narrow. This is serious business.

"I totally did."

"Oh no." I bemoan, pressing the back of my palm to my forehead. "I'm harboring a war criminal."

"A war criminal?" Yang raises an eyebrow at me, somewhere between confused and amused.

"You've committed a crime against tea. Oh woe is me." I slowly start to sink to my knees, letting my voice grow increasingly melodramatic.

"As much as I am a fan of being gay and doing crime, I don't think tea is something you can commit a crime against."

"But it is, and now I'm an accessory after the fact. And when you're someday put on trial I'll be right there beside you, deceived into a cruel fate by the treacherous winds of chance." I wail out to the winds, falling to the floor and fake snuffling for a moment before I break out into laughter.

"Don't worry, I'm sure Blake and I can always bust you out of jail if you get caught up in it." Yang chuckles, leaning down to reassuringly pat my shoulder.

"Why Blake?" I ask as I get back up.

"She just has that mysterious, yet quietly loyal and will break you out of jail kind of vibe to her." Yang shrugs. It's actually a pretty good assessment, and honestly, I bet Blake has probably broken people out of jail in the past. Which is badass.

""That's probably true. But hell, feel free to stick around as long as it takes to blow over, I'm sure getting scolded by her can't possibly be fun." I stretch out my limbs, pleasantly cracking a few spots in my neck and back as I do. Okay, maybe I've been doing a little too much work lately.

"Thanks." Yang looks around the empty basement. "So, what do you do down here?'

"Make stuff. I've just got all the supplies in a separate room because they have special storage requirements." Maybe I should get a separate lock for the basement. I really don't need to be answering questions about why it's basically empty aside from some plants that literally grow metal. Fortunately, the copper plants don't have any visible harvests on them right now and they look mostly like normal tomato vines. Now that they're fully grown I've managed to figure out the right amount of mana to feed them to make them ready to harvest once a day, which is leaving me with a nice surplus.

"You know, you should probably take a break. Ruby's been sort of worried about you."

"Ah, geez. Maybe I should be a little less brutally honest about how hard I'm working." I scratch my head. "I don't want to make her worry."

"Maybe you should take better care of yourself, such as by taking a break right now." Yang opens the hatch to the store and gestures expectantly through it.

I sigh, but acquiesce. "I guess I'd appreciate a break and some company." Qrow has been coming in to eat meals with me whenever he happens to be keeping an eye on me, but that hasn't been every day or every meal lately. I guess he must have said something to Ozpin to get them to lighten up on the surveillance a little. "You drink tea?"

"Hell no. Only coffee." Yang shakes her head, briefly making her hair fly around in a wild pattern.

"That's a shame." I settle into the couch I bought with some credits a while ago, since I figured I'd need a couch to crash on whenever Blake ends up letting slip that she was with the big WF and runs away. Guess I can't cook anything for her then. Dang. I've discovered that I really like cooking for people, just in general.

"Yeah, it really is too bad that you're a filthy tea drinker." Yang shoots back as she sits closer to me than is particularly necessary based on the size of the couch.

"Tea tastes good, unlike coffee." I've actually never tried coffee, but I'm not a fan of bitter things or caffeine, so I'm really not interested in it.

What follows is an in depth argument over whether it's better to drink bean juice or leaf juice, and which actually tastes worse than the other. It's further complicated when the question of sugar and other condiments enters the equation.

Finally, I throw up my arms, unable to bullshit my way any farther. "Alright, fine, we'll call it a draw."

"A draw? You've got no legs to stand on here and you know it." Yang drawls casually, leaning back against the couch and spreading her arms wide on either side of her. Her hand is only a little bit away from resting on my shoulder.

"Yeah, okay. You got me." I sigh, admitting defeat. It doesn't escape me that I could just scoot over a little bit and Yang would be holding me a little, but I don't. I'm frankly terrified of doing things like that, not in the sense of being touch averse, but because the act of approaching and asking scares me.

"So, what's up?" Yang asks, completely unclearly.

"What's up with what?" I blink.

"I got the impression that you were flirting with me when you asked me for my number, but you haven't actually met up with me, and now I'm here and you're not trying anything." She says, hitching an eyebrow. "So what's up?"

"Well, I was sort of flirting with you, but I prefer to get to know people before I start dating them or anything." I say casually.

Yang's reaction is absolutely nothing like what I expected. She just kind of sits there in stunned silence for a moment, before slowly nodding once. "Okay."

[+20 reputation with Yang Xiao Long(30/100) you're not just messing around]

"Is that alright?" I know for a fact that it apparently is from the reputation, but I'm still a bit surprised and confused about the whole thing. I'm not exactly the best at understanding what people are feeling when I don't have the right details.

"Yeah. It's just not the kind of thing I really... expect." Yang says, hiding a hint of sadness behind a smile. "Most people who approach me aren't interested in a relationship like that."

"Well, that sounds pretty damn stupid of them." I remark offhandedly, giving her a smile.

"And there you go flirting again, huh?" Yang chuckles.

"Is that what that was? I was just voicing my opinion."

"Yes. Yes it was." Yang's grin widens, and now I get the feeling that she's laughing at me a little.

"You should probably know that I'm polyamourous, since we're being all direct and stuff."

"I see." Yang pauses in consideration for a moment. "I think I can be fine with that kind of thing. Although..." She hesitates for a moment, lips pursed. "As long as I don't get left behind somehow. Or like, replaced, or something. That kind of thing is... personal, for me. I have a whole thing about it."

"People can't be replaced." I say firmly. "And frankly, I'm probably a bit too clingy for my own good. If I ever were to need to go somewhere away from someone I'm dating it would be because of something that I need to do, and I'd make sure they knew everything about it beforehand. As for me, I guess I have a thing about directness. I don't reliably understand something if you don't straight up say it."

"Then I guess I should mention," she then wiggles the arm that's close to me, "this is an offer to cuddle, just so you know."

"Oh." I perk up, looking excitedly at the very muscular arm next to me. "I accept." Gradually, I move over until my head is resting against Yang's shoulder and her strong arm wraps around me. She's warm and soft, and she smells like lavender. I feel safe like this, and it definitely does a lot to recharge my energy.

Just as I'm about to let my eyes close and see if I can't take a nice nap here, the detection ward at my door triggers, and a moment later there's a loud knock coming from said door. I would just ignore it, but at that moment I get nothing less than a quest notification.

Quest Started: Tonight on Ethel the Frog

Defend yourself against Roman's hitmen.

Reward:10,000 exp, 4,000 credits

"Shit." I reluctantly stand up. I don't have time to put on my new armor the mundane way, so I have to use the game's equip function in front of Yang, secrecy be damned. My armor appears on me immediately, and as I'd hoped it does give me a buff. "That knock was a hitman, possibly more than one. Whatever you do, don't call the police."

Buff gained: Earth affinity

10% reduction to geomancy mana cost and 25% increase to damage because you are wearing a full set of earth aspected armor.

"Why would we not call the police?" Yang asks, apparently choosing that one among the many valid questions about the situation.

"Because I'm a Faunus and this is a wealthy neighborhood. Cops could easily come here to find us watching over some unconscious thugs and decide that I must have broken into this place and knocked the owners unconscious." I don't know for a fact that Vale cops are as bad as American cops, but until I have a good reason not to, I am going to err on the side of caution. "I'm going to try to sneak up on them and knock one out before they get their auras up. Follow after me once you hear fighting?"

"Your house, your rules." She nods as she cocks Ember Celica.

"Good." I open my window and silently drop down to the ground, drawing my zat as I do.

The door and my window are fortunately placed on different sides of the house, so I have a corner between myself and the attackers where I can wait. As I'm creeping up to it and getting ready to fire, they knock again, which is enough for me to decide it's time to take the shot.

I whip around the corner and fire at each of the two stationary targets before me, two tall slim men in dark sunglasses and Italian looking suits. They both convulse and go down, but one of them gets back up, his aura flaring through the coursing blue electricity that covers his body because of the zat shot.

Alright, knocks them out when their aura is down, even if it isn't depleted, good to know.

"Now we were just here to talk, see." He says in the most stereotypical gangster accent I can imagine. In retaliation, the hitman flicks his wrist and a barrage of small objects fly at me, which I block with an earth wall. Surprisingly, the wall actually shatters under the barrage, kicking a small cloud of dust and debris in my direction, but at least it stops the projectiles. "But now it looks like things have gotten all hostile, see."

Through the dust however, I can't see the next barrage until it's too late, and it hits me with enough force that I'm sent flying back a few feet, my breath knocked out of me. Even with two separate layers of magical damage reduction and some pretty high quality armor, the many somewhat small impacts do quite a bit of damage. Still, I quickly roll and spring back up to my feet, avoiding a third barrage in the process.

"My boss, he thinks you're a very interesting woman, see. He'd like to know more about you, see." If I wasn't completely convinced that Roman Torchwick is completely, absolutely, and aggressively gay, I'd be worried that he might be the wrong kind of interested, the way this guy says it.

I cast tremor and sidestep another barrage, though it's accurate, and I still take a glancing blow. It's fine though, and I think maintaining range for as long as I can is a good idea here, since this guy probably hits even harder up close.

This time I retaliate with a barrage of magic missiles, which manage to knock my opponent off his feet on impact, due to arriving in time with a tremor. I follow up with a boulder that launches itself at him, only to shatter to pieces as he straight up punches his way through it. Okay, close range confrontation seems like a bad idea then, because that is some serious strength.

Time for the truest and most time-tested tactic in all of magery. Retreat while spamming magic missile and hope the other guy dies before he can get to you.

"If you don't calm down I'm gonna have no choice but to nail your head to a coffee table, see. You've been a very naughty boy, Clement."

"My name isn't Clement, and I'm not a boy either." I can't help stopping for a moment, just sort of staring at him, because what the fuck? You know, something about this all seems very familiar, in a sense.

It's then that Yang blasts her way around the corner and charges the guy who's standing, making for a great barrier between me and the really strong guy as they get into a fistfight. Weird, maybe those projectiles were the guy's semblance, because he actually looks completely unarmed. Oh, wait, now he's wielding a big rusty nail like it's a spear. Okay.

Oh, damn, he's actually doing pretty well against Yang, seems like he can hit really hard with that thing. I start spamming magic missile from a stationary position as Yang catches a blow on her shoulder and retaliates with an uppercut. There's no risk of friendly fire because they're guaranteed to hit their target.

With my supporting fire knocking the guy back a bit every few seconds, and the ground that keeps disrupting his footing, it doesn't take that long for Yang and I to break his aura and knock him unconscious, Yang not taking too much in the way of damage in the process.

That taken care of, she rolls her shoulders, stretching. "So now what?"

"I'm going to call Ozpin." I pull out my scroll and make the call.

"Sil. What is it?"

"Some hitmen working for Torchwick came to my house, I figured it would be better to call you than any cops." There's actually basically nobody outside right now, which makes things pretty convenient, I guess. No obvious onlookers, though I wouldn't be surprised if someone who's just staying inside reported this fight. It's probably best for most hunters to be out on missions in the morning and afternoon so that they don't run out of daylight.

"I see. I'll contact the constable and make sure he handles this appropriately."

"I'd really rather deal with Qrow." I sigh. Honestly, just the thought of having to deal with cops makes me pretty uncomfortable, even if it's someone Ozpin is informing of the situation.

"He's out of town for now. I've determined that what you told us about those students is true, so he's gone to investigate the reasons behind their fabrication." Oh, I guess I should have mentioned why it was that Lionheart had betrayed Oz.

"I don't suppose now would be a good time to mention that I actually already know what the reason for that is?"

"It is better than never. We need to speak about this in person anyway, so please come to my office once you're done dealing with the situation at your home."

"Alright." That's about as good a resolution to this whole thing as I'm getting, I suppose. "I'll talk to you then." I hang up. It's useful to have Oz on call, at least.

"So, now that we've got time, can I ask what all this was about?" Yang gestures at the two unconscious bodies in front of us, and then to the armor that I'm now wearing.

"The people are because I'm pretty sure I messed up and got caught trying to help someone get out of a criminal situation." Of course that's why Roman wasn't taking action against Tukson in canon, he wanted to attract someone who was working for Ozpin or another White Fang traitor. I really should have just contacted Qrow and told him about the potential turncoat. "The whole armor and fighting thing can be summed up as my semblance is actually a bit more than I'm prepared to tell anyone about. Thanks for the help though."

I wonder why the quest isn't completed yet. Maybe I need to wait for them to get taken into custody.

"Fair enough." Yang shifts on her feet, eyeing the bodies. "Think we should drag them inside so no one gets too curious?"

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea." I nod and grab one of them by the shoulders, dragging them in with Yang following close behind. Now that I have time, I observe them. Wow, yeah, they're each level 64 and they would have been a serious problem if I hadn't snuck up on them and taken one out. As it is, Dimmesdale probably would have beaten Yang in a one on one, and I'd be even worse off. "Holy shit, it's Doug and Dimmsdale Piranha." This is a Monty Python reference. Why is there a Monty Python reference in RWBY? Aside from someone having good taste, anyway.

[+2 reputation with the Game(5/100) for noticing and knowing how to pay a compliment]

Fair enough, I guess.

"Should I know who they are?" Yang says as she casually deposits the body on my floor.

"Probably not."

"Hmmm." Yang shoots the hitmen another look before dismissing them and turning to me. "So Faunus really can't trust the police?"

"I mean, I know that it's that bad in Mistral and Atlas, but I'm new to Vale so I'm being cautious about it right now." I shrug. "Ultimately though, it's not just Faunus, it's anyone who's a minority of practically any kind, or just anyone who's poor."

"Shit." Yang comments loquaciously. "That's fucked up."

"Yeah." I nod. There's not really much else to say about it.

Fortunately, the brothers don't regain consciousness before they're restrained and taken away, which is what completes the quest after all, giving a seriously large amount of experience.

Quest Complete: Tonight on Ethel the Frog

Objective complete: Defend yourself against Roman's hitmen

Hidden objective complete: Capture the Piranha brothers

Reward:10,000 exp, 4,000 credits

Hidden objective reward: 25,000 exp, 10,000 credits

It's a relief that quests give exp, because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten any from this whole mess, which would feel like getting cheated given how much danger I would have been in if I didn't have a stealth option, a zat, and a Yang helping me out.

Now, however, I have to deal with Ozpin probably being concerned for my safety. I'm sure this is going to be great.
