A Card In Hand

Chapter 25 - I'm Still a Child!

Chapter 25: I’m Still a Child!

Summoner’s Ultimate Technique 108?

What is this?

Why haven’t I heard of it before?

But just from the name, it doesn’t seem like a simple combat technique!

Unable to get a straight answer from Li Ao, Tie Zheng guessed that Li Ao might really be tired, especially after battling Prince Jinxi.

So, he shifted his target and pulled Fuxi, who was still immersed in his bittersweet troubles, aside to ask, “Did you teach Li Ao his combat skills?”

Fuxi was jolted awake.

He scratched the back of his head.

How should he explain?

Li Ao’s combat skills were indeed taught by him.

The problem was that he hadn’t seriously taught anything; he just demonstrated some basic moves as per the elders’ request and then got busy chatting with a pretty young lady.

Heaven knows how Li Ao managed to learn these techniques!

“Speak up, will you!”

Tie Zheng was really anxious seeing Fuxi like this.

Don’t you know yourself? Just say something!

“Yes.” Fuxi had no choice but to nod in admission.

“You taught him? How is that possible!”

Cang Yue estimated that if she clawed down, this fat man would immediately turn into a dead fat man.

“Indeed, I taught him, but it’s also because of his own practice. Tie Zheng, I’ve told you before, little Li Ao trains very hard, and his combat skills are quite good… In fact, his victory over Prince Jinxi wasn’t due to his strength; he’s actually stolen my lifetime of luck! Think about it, without my lifetime of luck aiding him, could he have defeated Prince Jinxi with a combat power of 1276?”

Fuxi tried hard to point out the truth to Tie Zheng, hinting that he had a role in it, that he had silently contributed.

Don’t forget about him.

“Tell me about the Summoner’s Ultimate Technique 108, where did you learn it from?”

Tie Zheng quickly stopped Fuxi’s crazy talk about stealing lifetime luck and other nonsense.

Where in the world is there such a talent, and since when could luck alone let Li Ao beat Prince Jinxi? Stop joking!

“That?”

Fuxi hesitated, is it really okay to talk about this in public?

“Am I not supposed to hear this?”

Cang Yue stared at Fuxi with her golden-silver demonic eyes, daring Fuxi to say no, ready to take action.

“Our family’s secret technique?”

Tie Zheng was a bit afraid that Fuxi might carelessly reveal their own family’s secret technique, but even he didn’t know about the Ultimate Technique 108. Where did Fuxi learn it from?

“No, no, I learned it from a book, through descriptions passed down by many people, combined with my personal insights and conjectures,” Fuxi quickly waved his hands.

“You, of all people?”

Cang Yue flatly refused to believe that Fuxi had any talent for practicing combat skills.

“Hey, don’t say that, I do have a unique talent in this area,” Fuxi was very confident in his abilities.

“What are you talking about?”

Tie Zheng became more confused as he listened.

What book could teach the ultimate techniques of a powerful summoner, and also be passed down orally by people?

“Actually…”

Fuxi was embarrassed to say it out loud, and he lowered his voice to reveal the secret technique he had mastered.

Tie Zheng was stunned as he listened.

Such one hundred and eight ultimate techniques?

Fuxi, how idle are you to study these things all day?

Cang Yue, snapping back to reality, immediately flew into a rage, grabbed Fuxi by the forehead, and started beating him up, “Is your brain filled only with these things? Wasting my time! I was actually looking forward to it, you blockhead!”

Normally, if Cang Yue laid hands on Fuxi, Tie Zheng would definitely have turned hostile.

But at this moment.

He looked up at the sky, pretending not to see.

If not for the fact that he was the future family head and it wouldn’t be proper for him to act, he might have wanted to teach Fuxi a lesson about what it means to deserve a beating!

After Cang Yue beat Fuxi into a mess, she stormed off in anger.

Tie Zheng signaled Chen Quan and Hei Zhu to help Fuxi up.

He looked at Fuxi, whose face was swollen like a pig’s head, and said nothing for a long time until Fuxi became a little scared. Then Tie Zheng sighed and patted Fuxi’s shoulder, “Fuxi, Li Ao listens to you, teach him something useful. Forget about that one hundred and eight ultimate summoner techniques.”

Fuxi quickly nodded.

Deep inside, however, he sighed silently, lamenting that true understanding was hard to find.

Alas!

He had a whole body of unique skills, but he couldn’t pass them on to little Li Ao, what a waste!

These big shots were all martial arts fanatics, their minds filled only with fighting and killing… completely lacking any sense of life’s flair, how could such important ultimate techniques be worthless in your eyes?

Consider this.

Li Ao, the younger cousin, was truly the best.

Not only was he obedient, but he also held his elder cousin in high regard, never missing a chance to praise his merits.

“Li Ao?”

Fuxi was just about to seek out his cousin to boost his own presence when he suddenly discovered that Li Ao had fallen asleep by the broken fighting ring.

“Time to eat?”

Li Ao, roused by Fuxi, yawned sleepily.

“All you do is eat and sleep. Can’t you find something meaningful to do?”

Fuxi felt the boy was wasting his life.

“Like what?”

Li Ao rubbed his eyes.

“You see?”

Fuxi pointed at Huo Mei, who was dancing like flames on the fighting ring.

“I’m not interested in pretty girls,” Li Ao declared, implying he was still a child.

Fuxi couldn’t help but spit out his drink, laughing. “I know you’re young, but why say it so loudly? How embarrassing if others heard you! What man isn’t interested in pretty girls? You could easily be misunderstood!”

Once Huo Mei descended from the ring.

Fuxi forcefully dragged Li Ao to her to offer congratulations, under the guise of fostering Li Ao’s life skills.

To Fuxi, life skills were vital for a summoner, and social interaction was a crucial component of those skills.

“Talking to a pretty lady is fine, but let me make it clear, my bear is not for trade,” Li Ao preemptively blocked any attempt by Fuxi to possibly gift his Stone Bear to Huo Mei.

“Haha! Don’t worry, I have no interest in your ugly dog,” Huo Mei laughed, her shoulders shaking.

“It’s a bear, not a dog,” Li Ao corrected.

“I like calling it a dog, so what?”

Huo Mei wasn’t about to argue logically with Li Ao.

“Fine, no problem. Whatever Goddess Huo Mei likes to call it, I think ‘dog’ is a lively and apt name. The more I hear it, the more endearing it becomes. Let’s call it ‘dog’ from now on!”

Fuxi agreed, treating Huo Mei’s words as absolute.

Smack!

Suddenly, someone slapped Fuxi on the shoulder from behind.

Startled, Fuxi turned around to see Ling Long holding a timid Yue Sha standing behind him.

Ling Long looked at Fuxi with her big, watery eyes, her small face slightly furrowed in an expression that looked as if she was about to cry.

“Didn’t Big Brother Fatty promise me and Yue Sha that we would call it Meme? Meme is so pitiful. It finally got a nice name, and now it’s suddenly turned into an ugly big dog. It’s so hard on it. Big Brother Fatty surely can’t bear to see it unable to even keep its own name, right?”

Fuxi was nearly melted by her big eyes, utterly captivated.

“Alright, alright, don’t cry. From now on, we’ll call it Meme!”

“I like to call it Big Dog!”

Huo Mei snorted proudly.

“Fine, you can call it Big Dog,” Fuxi nodded. You’re my goddess; what you say goes.

“But isn’t it a big cat? Can we call it Meme, please?”

Ling Long pleaded with her large, sad eyes fluttering.

“We’ll call it Meme…”

Fuxi, who had always been vulnerable to women’s tears, especially those that could melt glaciers without even falling, was deeply moved.

“I say it’s a dog.”

“It’s clearly a cat.”

Huo Mei and Ling Long faced each other, the stage set for the most intense cat-dog battle in history.

Yue Sha stealthily glanced at Li Ao, who calmly pulled out a nearly crumbled piece of thousand-layer pastry from his embrace and started munching on it indifferently.
