A Card In Hand

Chapter 45 - Will Little Li Ao Lose?

Chapter 45: Will Little Li Ao Lose?

The Flaming Long Sword slowly descended, splitting the sky.

The intense wind pressure was nearly suffocating.

Fortunately, on the Stone Isles where the new trainees were, three elders provided protection.

An impregnable energy shield blocked all impacts from the outside.

However, those trainees who were confident in their own combat prowess and not under the protection of the energy shield were slightly disheveled.

Although they were not the targets of the attack, they still had to struggle hard under the wind pressure of Qian Nian’s Flaming Long Sword to barely maintain their stance.

Boom!

Li Ao raised his right arm, transformed into a rocky limb, towards the sky.

He met Qian Nian’s Flaming Long Sword head-on without backing down.

After the chilling shockwave swept across the arena, people saw significant cracks on Li Ao’s raised rocky arm.

“Did it shatter?”

Fuxi swallowed hard, not expecting it; this Qian Nian was even stronger than Shuanghan, having cracked the rocky arm that Shuanghan hadn’t managed to move.

Others at his level saw a different outcome.

Although Qian Nian’s face showed joy, he knew that the rocky arm had previously been weakened by Shuanghan’s full-powered attacks, which is why it cracked under his own strike.

Being able to crack Li Ao’s rocky arm with one strike was crucial for boosting morale.

After all, the demon king Li Ao was not so strong as to be completely immovable.

If everyone’s strength were united, there was still a chance to defeat him.

“Burn!”

Fearing that Li Ao would transform his Flaming Long Sword like the Lion’s Roar Blast, Qian Nian waved his hand, turning the sword into raging flames that engulfed the rocky arm.

Unable to completely shatter the arm, he decided to inflict some damage and wait for the next round of attacks.

Many on the challenge list had yet to take their turn, and he had not yet used his strongest secret techniques.

The flames burned on the massive rocky arm, endlessly rising.

On another side of the platform, Shuanghan was already prepared, his cold aura skyrocketing.

If the fiercely heated Rocky Arm were to suddenly encounter an attack of cold ice, experiencing a swift shift from hot to cold, the effect would be like experiencing both ice and fire simultaneously.

What would this effect be like?

Shuanghan was about to make a move when Qiqu, who had a bizarre clown-like smile painted on his face and was sitting on a suspended strange sphere, flew up beside Shuanghan to stop him.

“Shuanghan, you are the main attack force, don’t rush to act. Li Ao’s Rocky Arm still holds powerful energy, it’s not the best time for you to attack!”

Qiqu knew that to win this battle,

Both Qian Nian and Shuanghan must not fall.

Especially Shuanghan.

If he fell too soon, the chances of defeating Li Ao would approach zero.

“You look for the right moment, I’ll break his Rocky Arm!”

Qiqu decided to reveal his true strength, as hiding it no longer had any meaning.

Sitting on the strange sphere, he flew to a position a hundred meters in front of Li Ao.

His fingers stretched out.

Suddenly, an orange card appeared faintly in the palm of his hand.

The sky inexplicably darkened, and the newcomers could no longer see Qiqu’s movements with their eyes.

They hurriedly looked towards the glowing crystal wall transformed by the Crystal Rainbow Phantom Butterfly, but the scene displayed was not of Qiqu’s hand.

Instead, it was the dome of the sky.

Unbeknownst to when, a black hole had appeared in the dome of the small world.

Faster than lightning by an immeasurable factor, as if coming from the land of death, a ghastly skeletal arm of the grim reaper reached out from the black hole, eerily pressing towards Li Ao on the Obsidian Platform.

Li Ao swung his still-burning Rocky Arm to meet it.

In utter silence.

The grim reaper’s arm retracted back into the black hole and vanished, and the small world was instantly filled with light again.

However, the Rocky Arm Li Ao had swung shattered silently, piece by piece tumbling down.

The pieces of the Rocky Arm fell faster and faster.

In no time, it had completely disintegrated, turning into rubble on the ground.

Some of the rubble still burned fiercely, the flames undiminished.

“Disperse!”

Qiqu pulled outward forcefully with all ten fingers, as if tugging on something.

At the same time, the fragments of the shattered Rocky Arm scattered as if pulled by thousands of invisible threads, moving away from Li Ao and towards the edges of the Obsidian Platform.

“Well done!”

The new spectators couldn’t help but cheer as the Rocky Arm of the great demon king Li Ao was finally shattered under the assault of Shuanghan, Qian Nian, and Qiqu.

“Li Ao won’t lose, will he?” Fuxi couldn’t help but worry for Li Ao.

Li Ao was as formidable as a great demon king.

But there were so many on the other side!

Twenty against one.

Was that fair?

“Charge!”

Lie Feng emerged from the tornado, and seeing everyone still hesitating, he grew anxious. Waiting any longer would allow Li Ao to re-form his Rocky Arm.

Waiting was futile; they needed to attack first, using their numerical advantage to suppress Li Ao!

Lie Feng was the first to charge.

Clad in his Windstorm Armor, he roared as he rushed towards Li Ao, his fist thundering down like a mighty hammer.

Li Ao, standing immobile, caught Lie Feng’s fist with one hand and flung the impetuous lion-hearted man onto the Obsidian Platform.

Before Lie Feng could even scream, Li Ao had already sent him flying with a heart-stopping kick.

This time.

Qiu Ye did not catch him.

Flying in the sky, Qiu Ye’s legs swept down repeatedly, and with dense leg power, hundreds of wind blades rained down on Li Ao like droplets.

Higher in the sky, eight Cang Yues appeared above Li Ao’s head, and for a moment, no one could tell which was his true form; each afterimage clone looked as lifelike as the real person.

All eight Cang Yues simultaneously raised their claws, and from the heavens above, a piercingly mournful wolf howl resounded.

Faster than Qiu Ye’s leg-swept wind blades.

Sixteen claws.

Ripped through Li Ao repeatedly.

The protective stone skin could not resist the terrifying wolf claws’ ripping attack, and it shattered explosively!

As hard as the obsidian platform, it didn’t directly endure the sharp claws; it was merely the sharp wind swung out by Cang Yue’s claws that caused a series of ripping marks to burst upon it.

The claws had just passed.

Immediately following were hundreds of wind blades attacking fiercely.

Boom, boom, boom… A violent explosion triggered an immense tidal wave of shock.

When the dust settled and people’s vision was restored, they were shocked to find on the Obsidian Platform, Li Ao was holding one person in each hand, having caught both Cang Yue and Qiu Ye, who were incredibly fast opponents, firmly within his grasp. Cang Yue and Qiu Ye wore faces of disbelief, but the fact told them they really had been caught by Li Ao.

Their attacks had completely missed, and their attempt to flee had also declared a failure.

Cang Yue’s left hand was caught by Li Ao’s right, and Qiu Ye, suspended mid-air, had his right ankle grasped by Li Ao’s left hand.

“You are too slow!” Li Ao said as he released them during their struggle to counterattack, rewarding each with a heavy punch that sent Cang Yue and Qiu Ye flying over a hundred meters away.

The moment Cang Yue was about to crash out of the platform.

A flaming thorn appeared.

It wrapped around his ankle.

Swiftly pulling Cang Yue back to Huo Mei’s side.

“Idiot, that guy’s best at combat skills, did you rush to your death?”

Huo Mei angrily slapped the top of Cang Yue’s head with her delicate hand.

“I’m fine!” Cang Yue stood up straight, trying to act tough while secretly wiping the blood seeping from his nose and mouth with the back of his hand.

“It’s my turn now!”

Shuanghan had been brewing his attack for long enough.

His attack made the whole microcosm feel as if it had frozen over.

As if time and space had all iced over.

Only Shuanghan was moving.

Like a meteor.

Rushing towards Li Ao to strike.

Li Ao appeared to be frozen stiff initially, unmoving as Shuanghan’s fist aimed for his face.

Only at the last moment did he stretch out his hand to catch Shuanghan’s punch.

The instant he caught the fist, Li Ao’s body was encased in ice, turning him into a figure of ice.

Despite Shuanghan being empowered by the Ice Guardian, he continued to fiercely push the cold air.

He knew this was just superficial icing.

Outsiders didn’t understand.

Shuanghan was aware that such a degree was far from truly freezing Li Ao solid.

Ten seconds, ten seconds that seemed incredibly long to the outside world, passed before Li Ao successfully shattered the ice and burst out, regaining his freedom with a loud thump.

“Retreat quickly!”

Qiqu frantically pulled, drawing Shuanghan, who was still desperately emitting cold air, back in an instant. By then, Li Ao had already swung his fist, his arm surging with numerous currents of electricity, blazing brilliantly.

The ancient mammoth’s roar echoed across the skies…

If the only one who could freeze Li Ao, Shuanghan, had struck him directly with Mammoth’s Rage.

There was no hope of winning this fight.

Tie Zheng, who had summoned the Steel Golem and the Mountain Gate Guardians, two mighty war beasts, charged out in silence, prepared to take the blow for Shuanghan with his body.

Man Huang bit his teeth and, casting aside all hesitations, charged forward as well. He was well aware that Tie Zheng alone might not withstand Li Ao’s Mammoth’s Rage, and even with his help, it might not be enough, but what did it matter if he died?

The purpose of his existence in this world was to leave his mark, not to live like a coward!

When Man Huang finally caught up to Tie Zheng.

He was surprised to find.

That there was someone ahead, running even faster — it was Long Ying, armed with a great sword and clad in armor, clanking resoundingly with each stride.
