Chapter 56
Morgana held out her hand, and Kellive pulled the papers from his grasp.
After all, he’d seen more contracts than anyone else, so he should know better.
The woman read the contract carefully, signed it, and asked.
“How curious, that a young lady should know all the ancient language, and now that I know no one except saints, did you know Confucius of Avalon?”She had heard from Percival, and she knew that he was from Avalon.
He replied nonchalantly, gently blocking Percival’s hand as it sought to imprint his palm with a seal.
“I’ve never met anyone who speaks an ancient language, that’s for sure.”He thought it odd that she should ask about the temple.
‘But then, how does Percival’s mother know about the language?’
I wondered, but her guard was too high to ask.
There was no need to create a misunderstanding already.
Later, when she was more comfortable, I decided to wait.
After signing the contract, I watched the woman prepare to leave.
Kellive, who had been sitting in silence, asked quietly.
“It’s just a simple question, Morgana.” “What?” “Since you won’t have VIPs for your first opening, do you have anything that might appeal to the high-nosed British aristocracy?”I’d always been skeptical of teas and herbs until I’d tasted them myself.
It was a pretty pointed question.
But Morgana had a secret weapon. Something no one else could have, even if they wanted to.
A very cheap herb that she’d picked up on the run from Avalon.
“I’ll sell a love potion.”It was time for Mandragora to see the world.
In the capital city of Britain, much attention has been paid to the shop on the corner of Diner Street.
That’s because those shops were being torn apart by wizards, a group of highly paid individuals who were often seldom seen, and who wouldn’t dare to venture out without a lot of money.
Wizards were a group of people who were rarely seen, and rarely heard of, unless it was for a large sum of money.
Even the mercenaries had gotten to the point where they were sitting down to watch, as if the sight were magical.
“Wow, I never knew old people could move so fast.” “I see wizards can move in the daylight.”As the mercenaries sat down and drank their ale and watched, passersby stopped in their tracks, curious to see what the man was calling for.
It wasn’t what they had planned, but it was a good start, as they were getting more attention than they expected.
As I was proudly looking at the renovated shop, a candy popped out of nowhere.
“Eat it, I bought it on the way.”He held the candy in one hand, still wrapped in the cloth, though a little thinner than before.
Morgana took one and popped it into her mouth.
“What kind of candy is this?”She fumbled in her pocket and pressed the price of the candy into his hand.
He stared at the money in his palm with a smile on his face.
There was nothing wrong with the price, but he looked so intently at it that he thought something was wrong.
Raon, who had heard the commotion, was surprised and caught Morgana by surprise after the introduction.
“Miss. What the hell kind of money are you offering them, and why are they moving so fast?” “The sooner we can get this done, the sooner we can get it over with.”Morgana’s eyes narrowed, and Raon’s jaw dropped.
Double for one day. Four times for two days. Three days less, eight times.
The faster they finished, the more money they made, and every day that passed made a difference in the quality of the shop.
Time was literally bought with money.
If the money was going to be spent anyway, it was better to pay them lavishly than to pay them modestly.
<Tír Na Nóg>(T/N:
an earthly paradise inhabited by supernatural beings)
By the time the shop’s banners were up, it was a familiar sight on the streets of Britain.
“What do they do?” “Medicine, apothecary?” “That’s a lot of money for that, do you think?” “Why, wasn’t there a big fuss among the mercenaries the other day about some miracle herb, or something like that?” “Well, if it is, it must be expensive.”Many people were talking, half in anticipation, half in concern.
Percival was on track to learn herbalism as quickly as he could.
Except for one problem.
“Raon, don’t you know any good wizards?”He looked up from the tavern to see Morgana with her hair in a bun, and slid a well-done sausage across the table to Kellive’s.
“You know, I’ve got some of the best in the kingdom hanging around the lady’s shop right now.”Casting magic was simple. One simply studied the spells that already existed.
But creating something new was something only a high-level wizard could do.
I don’t know, but they all shook their heads, saying that applying formulas in Britain wasn’t easy.
They also added the unwelcome news that most of the best wizards were living in the towers as slaves to the Magic Tower.
Kellive, who was drinking wine next to her, said,
“I don’t know. Why do you need a wizard?” “I’m going to make a spell that generates a randomized draw.”Analogically, it could have been done by dividing the disk proportionally.
However, their opponents were extravagant.
If I wanted them to spend their money, I had to be at least as careful.
At the very least, I didn’t want them to think they were spending their money in a crappy place.
That was the first priority in the upscale strategy.
Not to devalue.
Now able to hold a glass with his injured hand, he poured wine into her empty glass.
“I know a wizard, would you like to introduce him?” “Can he make magic tools?”Morgana’s head jolted up from her seat, and he nodded.
“Sure. He’s good, and he’s good-natured, and he’s handsome.”There seemed to be a lot of useless words tacked on after that, but that wasn’t the point.
What she needed now was to know if he could make her a tool right now.
“Can I meet with him? How much will it cost?” “I don’t need money.”Distracted by the conversation, he stabbed a sausage with his fork and held it out to Morgana.
Taking a bite, Morgana called out to the busy Raon.
“Hey, Raon, put that sausage in front of me!” “Okay!”Back in a listening position, Kellive’s grin remained steadfast.
“Why do you have to be so precise?” “There are no freebies in the world, and even Confucius said you shouldn’t take them cold if someone offers them to you.” “But not you, Miss Morgana.”Umm… I don’t think that’s a freebie.
If we’re not careful with our money, it’s bound to come back to haunt us.
It’s common courtesy and common sense that even the closest of friends should have a certain amount of money to give and receive.
So when giving congratulations or condolence money, everyone thinks about getting it back.
It was no different for family members.
“You can’t buy sincerity with money,”he says.
Especially since the store was Morgana’s personal business, and Kellive was there to help.
At a time like this, it was important to be clear.
‘Maybe give him a share later. I’m so tired.’
She shrugged, shoving the fork she’d been using to pick at the sausage into her mouth.
Why would he ask me this out of the blue? Perhaps the cost of a mage wasn’t as ridiculous as I thought?
Morgana’s eyes narrowed at the mention of high-ranking mages being expensive.
Kellive smiled again, as pretty as ever.
“It’s a place with a lot of wizards, Aval…”At the word Avalon, she was quick to shut him up.
He glanced around the tavern to see if anyone else had heard, but Raon could only stare at Morgana, wide-eyed and confused.
“Why, is there something?” “No, no!”She squinted at Kellive, as if to yell at him, and said each letter with determination in her eyes.
“That way.”Surely we’d agreed to coordinate on that side of the road, but I don’t know why he’s so forgetful.
How to live in this harsh world.
He nodded, still smiling broadly at what was so amusing.
I removed the hand covering his mouth, unsure, and he leaned in close.
We leaned in so that our faces were close together, which would have been a whisper to anyone else, but it was more like a whisper to his face.
