LIGHTNOVELSTORY Chapter 8: To The Vaults
Hyacinth's POV
The ride to the vaults is always jarring it's like riding on a rollercoaster that is about to fall off the tracks at any moment. We made it all the way down to vault 1 which was the Pervelle vault and right next to it was vault 2 the Wynn vault. The Pervelle vault had a blood lock on it so I had to prick my finger again to get in. The door made a whooshing almost mechanical sound as it opened and lights came on not the normal torches I'm used to seeing in the wizarding word. They were closer to the electrical lights muggles use but not quite as harsh on the eyes. Stepping in I look back at Dad only to see him just as shocked as I was about the lights. I grabbed his hand and went to step inside the vault. It felt like I was stepping through a gel wall and I had to pull Dad through with more strength than I had to push myself through with but we made it. Bloodfang stood just outside the doors not even attempting to follow us inside.
We walked further in as more lights turned on above us. Dad's hand tightened around mine as he pushed me slightly behind him, his wand at the ready. "Dad do you think there is anything dangerous inside here?" I asked quietly. Dad frowned and said, "I don't know about this vault but some families the Black's included set traps inside the vault to keep intruders out so I would rather be cautious than careless." I nodded as we went deeper into the vault. At the end of the corridor we came up on a set of stairs that led up. The second my foot touched the first step they lit up under my feet in a soft glow. At the top of the stairs was a landing with shelves full of books and a strange ledge that looked like you are supposed to place your head on it. Not doing that anytime soon I thought as we walked passed it. Dad stopped at another set of doors just off to the side and opened them with caution. Inside were these orange crystal cylindrical objects about 50 give or take and a few crystal sheets that look to be about the size of a small notebook with metal lines across the surface. They almost look like a crystal computer parts if I'm being honest.
"Dad what is all this stuff?" I ask while looking around the room. We walk further in and see another doorway and find a ring that is gigantic, it looks like five giants could fit through it standing one on top of the other. It looks like its made for someone to go through it and I am completely lost about what it would be doing in my vault. Dad looks at me and says "Don't touch anything lets head back to the first room and look at some of the books to see what we need to do with this stuff." I nod because that seems like a good plan to me.
Dad picks up a book and so do I, the one I pick up is titled 'The Alteran people, Their Rise and Fall.' It was a book about the history of a whole race of people with powers, their journey through the stars and how they used gateways they called the Asteria Porta. It was so awesome that I wished it was true I have always wanted to go to space. I look at Dad who has a book titled 'The Origins of Ancient Magic' he looked so engrossed that I almost felt bad interrupting him, almost. "Dad what does all this mean?" I asked. He looked up at me shocked and said, "I think I now get what all that Alteran stuff on your lineage test was about. I mean Bloodfang explained a lot of it, but reading this just made it hit me on a whole new level. We are from a people that came to Earth from the stars. Space is our home not here." "That is so awesome we should check out some of these other books before we go to the Wynn vault." I said while practically bouncing with excitement. We put about twenty books in Dad's extended pouch and left the Pervelle vault.
The Wynn vault was almost as old as the Pervelle vault It had some more books and a chair on a slightly elevated platform.
In the room of to the side there were about 15 more of the cylindrical crystals and that was it as far as the weird things that we had no clue about. The other room of the Wynn vault had the standard coins and some jewelry. Most of the jewelry had a space design, like necklaces that looked like they had a galaxy in them, or bracelets with what looked like stars on them and even a ring that had the same markings as the giant ring in the Pervelle vault. I handed that one to Dad as I thought it would look cool on him. While placing the necklace and bracelet on myself, because they were calling out to me.
After putting them on I noticed a log book off to the side of the ledge where the jewelry was placed with descriptions on what each item does. The necklace is enchanted to keep the wearer safe from poisons it will heat slightly when toxic substances to the wearer are near. It also has a small pocket dimension that is just big enough to hold some antidote potions around just incase. The bracelet is charmed as a kind of personal shield. The ring is really awesome it works as a small control module from Asteria Porta. The problem with it is though it is only able to dial two addresses the Terra Porta and the Atlantis Porta. I really want to have Dad try to dial with the Porta in the Pervelle vault but we need more information first. I showed the log to Dad and he just hugged me while saying, "Never take those off, I need to know you are safe and these do just that." I nodded and hugged him back it was nice knowing someone cared about me.
We grabbed some of the books from the Wynn vault, Dad was super excited about a few books titled 'The Alteran Alphabet' and 'Alteran Runes'. It was funny watching him jump around excitedly because a lot of the books in the Pervelle vault were in Alteran and Dad was worried about how to translate them. We left the vault to head to Potter Manor apparently we will be living there due to Dad's house needing renovations.
