Chapter 29: Battlefield of Cairo

**Earth-10005, 1983**

A few moments later, Peter, Jean, Hank, Raven, Alex, Maria, Scott, Pietro, and Kurt were seated inside a jet that had been radically transformed and is on their way to Cairo.

Peter, utilizing his unique abilities and the analytical powers of Great Sage, began remodeling the jet he ate earlier and enhanced it far beyond its original capabilities.

Earlier Jean briefed the group on the message from Professor Xavier, urging them to join forces to help him. Despite their recent conflicts, Hank insisted everyone to put aside their differences for the mission. They all agreed, even enlisting Peter's help. Peter readily agreed while secretly amused that this would give him a better chance to eat Apocalypse later.

As the team donned their X-Men suits, Peter took a moment to change Jean's attire with a mere thought. Her suit made by Peter was now sleeker, more protective, and equipped for the impending battle. Jean noticed his gesture but remained deep in thought, pondering their relationship and what the future might hold for them.

Peter soon unveiled the modified jet, now crafted from adamantium alloy. It gleamed with advanced weaponry, stealth mode, and cutting-edge features.

Hank's jaw dropped. "You—how did you even—this is incredible!"

Peter smirked. "Let's just say I have my ways."

The team boarded the jet, and Raven, now in her Mystique persona, gave a brief motivational speech. She urged them to fight not just for themselves but for the future of mutants everywhere. Pietro took the opportunity to reveal his true identity as Erik Lehnsherr's son, which added another layer of tension to the mission.

Their destination: Cairo, a city now under siege.

As they neared the location, the jet began to vibrate violently. Magneto's manipulation of the Earth's magnetic field was wreaking havoc, causing disruptions in the atmosphere and sending metallic objects flying through the air. The destruction was immense, with debris scattered everywhere and a massive pyramid-like structure at the epicenter.

Jean went into the minds of other people inside the pyramid, "They have the Professor at the center of the Pyramid. He's planning to transfer his consciousness into Professor and if he does that, he'll have the power to control every single person on the world."

The group was tensed hearing this and Hank who is flying the jet with Maria took the jet closer.

But the closer they got the jet began to vibrate due to the magnetic field.

Peter, sensing the strain on the jet, activated his electromagnetic spectrum manipulation. "I've got this for now, but we can't stay airborne for long. Prepare for landing!"

With Peter's efforts stabilizing the jet temporarily, they managed to land safely on the outskirts of the destruction. The team exited and began surveying the chaos. The air was thick with magnetic energy, and the landscape looked like a war zone.

Peter quickly outlined the plan.

"Raven and Pietro, you're up first. Find Erik and stop him if you can. Use whatever means necessary to get him to listen. I'll create a distraction to lure Apocalypse's followers out of that pyramid."

He turned to Alex. "You're with me. We'll handle the heavy hitters."

"To the rest of you—Jean, Hank, Ms.Maria, Scott, and Kurt—you'll focus on getting to Charles. Save him and assist him in any way you can."

The team nodded though some of them are uncomfortable with Peter, they need him to save Professor.

"Any questions?" Peter asked while scanning their faces. There were none.

"Good," Peter said while smirking. "Let's move."

Pietro took Raven and went to Erik while Peter and Kurt teleported the team near the base of the pyramid. The group marveled at the colossal structure, ominous and radiating immense energy. Without hesitation, Peter took to the air, ascending swiftly to the top of the pyramid.

Hovering in midair, Peter extended both hands forward—one glowing with intense plasma energy, the other crackling with electricity. He unleashed a devastating combined blast, obliterating the pyramid's dome. The resulting shockwave rippled through the structure, shaking its very foundation and leaving those on the ground awestruck.

Scott gaped at the display of raw power. "Seriously, what the hell is with this guy? What even is his power?"

Hank replied grimly, "It would be wise not to make an enemy of him."

Hank understood all too well that Peter wasn't from their world and likely operated on entirely different principles. But didn't expect Peter to have this much power. For now, it was better to keep things peaceful.

Inside the pyramid, Apocalypse who is preparing to transfer his consciousness into Charles Xavier, frowned at the intrusion. Charles lay restrained on a golden bed, struggling futilely against the process. Beside him, another golden bed awaited Apocalypse.

He commanded his followers to fend off the intruders and then used his powers to repair the damage to the pyramid's structure.

Angel was the first one to get outside and began soaring toward Peter with lethal intent after seeing him in air. But before he could even attempt an attack, Peter moved with blinding speed and effortlessly devouring him in an instant.

> New Skill Acquired: Angelic Wings

Peter smirked as ethereal wings materialized briefly on his back. He then descended gracefully on the ground and his eyes locked onto the approaching figures of Ororo Munroe (Storm) and Psylocke.

Meanwhile, Alex, clad in his combat suit stepped forward toward the entrance together with his brother Scott. Peter told Scott to go with others but he didn't need Peter to tell him what to do. He decided to be with his brother and fight.

Without warning, Peter unleashed a dual plasma blast at the new arrivals who just made out of the pyramid.

The force of the attack split them apart, sending Ororo and Psylocke in different directions. Alex and Scott pursued Psylocke while Peter advanced toward Ororo.

"Now's our chance!" Jean whispered.

Kurt nodded and began teleporting the rest of the team inside.

Following Peter's earlier instructions, Kurt used continuous teleportation to close the distance rapidly. Each leap brought them closer to their target.

As the team neared the inner sanctum, Peter, already engaged with Ororo, probed into her mind and extracted the exact location of Charles. He then transmitted the image directly into Jean and Kurt's minds, giving them a clear route to their objective.

Kurt wasted no time, teleporting the group to a corner of the chamber. They arrived just as the consciousness transfer process began. Charles was screaming, golden rods connecting his bed to Apocalypse's. He started to lose his hair in the process.

Hank who is now in his Beast form, whispered to Kurt, "Be ready."

With a powerful leap, Hank went to the bed and broke Charles's restraints and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "I've got you, Charles," he said firmly.

Kurt extended his hand, and the moment Hank grabbed it, they teleported out, taking Jean with them.

Before leaving, Peter who is inside Jean, used his telekinesis to topple massive pillars onto Apocalypse, momentarily disrupting the process and buying them precious time.

They reappeared in a small room where Moira MacTaggert was waiting. She wasn't a mutant, but the team had decided earlier to keep her safe and regroup there after rescuing Charles.

Hank carefully placed Charles on the bed they had prepared. Though unconscious, Jean focused her abilities, delving into his mind to wake him.

Charles gasped as his eyes shot open and began panting heavily.

Hank moved infront of him, "You're safe now, Charles."

"Thank you... all of you." Charles said with a small smile.

The team exchanged weary but relieved smiles, knowing they had accomplished the first step of their mission. However, the battle was far from over.

Raven and Pietro stood on the edge of the devastated field, watching Erik Lehnsherr—Magneto—levitate amidst the chaos.

Magnetic energy swirled around him like a storm, tearing apart the earth and sky. He stood at the epicenter, consumed by rage and grief, reshaping the very planet under Apocalypse's command.

Raven stepped forward cautiously, "Erik!"

Magneto turned his head slightly but not pausing in his destruction. "Raven... You shouldn't be here."

"I have to be here," she said while stepping closer to the magnetic field guarding Erik. "Erik, look at what you're doing. This isn't you."

"You don't know me," Erik replied trembling with anger and pain. "You have no idea what I've lost—what they've taken from me."

"I do know," Raven said in a soft tone, "I know about your wife, your daughter. I'm sorry for what happened to them. But this... this won't bring them back. Killing everyone on this planet won't fill the void inside you."

Pietro who is standing a few steps behind Raven finally spoke. "She's right, Dad."

Erik froze for a moment and his eyes narrowing as he turned to look at Pietro. "What did you say?"

"I said you're right to be angry," Pietro continued, "You've lost so much. But you still have something left. You have us."

"Us?" Erik's voice was laced with disbelief.

Pietro hesitated for a second before saying, "I'm your son."

Erik stared at him and was stunned, the magnetic storm around him faltering a little bit. "You're lying."

"I'm not," Pietro said firmly. "I've known for a while. I didn't tell you because... well, I didn't think you'd care. But now, seeing you like this—I can't just stand by and do nothing."

Erik's expression softened slightly, but the pain in his eyes remained. "It's too late for that now. There's no turning back."

"No, Erik," Raven interjected. "It's never too late. You can still stop this. You can still make things right."

"I can't," Erik said, "I don't know how."

"Yes, you do," Raven said. "You've always known. You've fought for the right reasons before. Fight for them again. Fight for your family—for the future."

Pietro took a step closer, "You're not alone, Dad. You still have us."

Erik looked at them both, "Don't give me hope." Slowly, the magnetic energy around him began to dissipate.

Raven extended her hand toward him. "Hope is all we have Erik. Come back to us. You're still one of us."

Erik hesitated for a moment and then reached out, taking Raven's hand. The destructive storm he had unleashed faded completely, leaving behind an eerie silence.

For the first time in what felt like an eternity, Erik allowed himself to hope. He looked at Pietro and then at Raven, and nodded. "I'll try."

Together, they turned toward the pyramid, ready to rejoin the others and put an end to Apocalypse.

Back on the battlefield, the chaos raged as Peter and Ororo clashed in the skies above the ruins of Cairo. Ororo Munroe unleashed her powers with raw fury, sending bolts of lightning and gusts of powerful winds at Peter. The sky was alive with the crackle of energy as her attacks lit up the darkened battlefield.

Peter however dodged every strike with ease, his movements were fluid and precise. He hovered just out of reach with a smirk playing on his lips. "Come on, you've got to try harder than that!" he taunted with his voice carrying over the howling winds.

Ororo's frustration grew. She channeled more of her power, summoning a torrent of wind and lightning to strike at Peter. But her inexperience was evident—her attacks were powerful but lacked precision and control. Peter read her every move like an open book, using his enhanced reflexes to predict her actions.

"You're better than this," Peter said mockingly while dodging another bolt of lightning. "Or maybe you're not. Is this really all you've got?"

Ororo gritted her teeth and her concentration was wavering as Peter's words got to her. She pushed herself harder, determined to land a hit. But Peter was simply toying with her, using the opportunity to study her fighting style and weaknesses.

After sensing that the Professor had been successfully rescued, Peter decided to end the fight. He hovered in the air, letting Ororo fire another bolt of lightning directly at him. This time instead of dodging Peter extended his hand and absorbed the lightning into his body. The energy coursed through him harmlessly and his body crackled with power.

Ororo's eyes widened in shock. "What... how?"

Peter smirked. "Alright, girl, let's end this."

Before she could react, Peter moved with lightning speed, closing the distance between them in an instant. Ororo attempted to dodge but Peter had already read her mind and anticipated her move. He delivered a precise punch to her abdomen, knocking the wind out of her.

As she fell unconscious, Peter caught her in his arms, descending gracefully to the ground. He teleported to the battlefield where Alex and Scott Summers were struggling against Psylocke.

The scene was chaotic. Alex was firing energy blasts from his chest, while Scott used his optic beams to keep Psylocke at bay. But her agility and skill with her psychic blade overwhelmed the two brothers. Psylocke dodged their attacks with ease, slashing at them with her glowing, deadly blade.

Alex narrowly avoided a slash, shouting to Scott, "We're not winning this!"

Peter appeared behind them, gently laying Ororo on the ground. He observed the fight for a moment, shaking his head with an exasperated sigh.

"Need a hand?" Peter asked in a casual tone.

Alex who is still dodging Psylocke's relentless attacks shouted back, "Do you even need to ask?"

Peter smirked and stepped forward. Psylocke turned her attention to him, lunging with her psychic blade. But before she could get close, Peter's eyes glowed faintly as he activated his telepathy. With a mere thought, Psylocke froze in her tracks and her body began relaxing as she fell into a deep sleep.

The Summers brothers stared in disbelief. The fight was over in an instant.

Scott who is panting heavily, turned to Peter and shouted, "Why didn't you do that from the beginning?"

Peter grinned, "Where's the fun in that?"

Alex groaned, placing his hands on his knees to catch his breath. "I hate you."

Peter chuckled while glancing at the unconscious Psylocke. "I don't need the like of a man. We've got more work to do. Let's keep moving."

With that, he gestured for the group to regroup and prepare for the final battle ahead. The tides were turning, and the fight against Apocalypse was far from over.
