-My young friend, you need to face your fears. You must know yourself and open yourself up to what causes terror in your soul.

With an instructive finger in front of his face, Kai walked in circles around the meditating boy. One hand slowly rotated his fingers, moving rubble and small stones in a circle, creating a slight murmuring noise.

-But I can't, Master. It's beyond my strength, maybe you-

-I can't do all the work for you, young Guan Yu. Besides, I've been hiding you here for too long already. Nobles aren't used to waiting, so you'll have to go outside and talk to the girls.

-Eh...,' a painful exhale escaped from the child's mouth, 'Or maybe I should leave through the underground ways.

-Then I'll turn you in right away and the next time they see you, they'll know you're avoiding them.

-That's despicable, master.

-It's sensible, apprentice.

Laughing at the ridiculous conversation, Yu jumped to his feet, shaking off his dust-stained trousers. Crunching his neck and stretching the joints of his arms, he hopped in place, throwing a few punches in the air. Watching the boy perplexed, Kai asked himself more and more questions.

-What kind of relationship are you two having?

-А? - Yui, distracted from the fight with the shadow, began to check his weapon, 'I'm sure that's what it'll come down to.

-The mating games of youth are becoming more and more incomprehensible.

Letting the last phrase pass his ears, the orphan took in more air and nodded to his master. A sharp kick on the ground and the meditation platform rose up. Time slowed to a crawl, the rays of the departing sun illuminated the deserted platform, adorning the three girls who were frozen in anticipation with red tones. There was a polite but slightly tortured smile on Madam Ming's face. Her daughter shifted her gaze from her friend to her mother, holding her hands in front of her and absolutely not hiding her excitement. The last of the trio was like a wild cat that had finally cornered its prey. The long hours of waiting had not improved her mood, so the torches around Wenling trembled to the beat of her heart.

When Yui's head was above ground level, the first thing he wanted to do was run away. The gazes of all three beautiful creatures crossed over him, promising suffering and punishment for waiting so long. While the OWLs family smiled sweetly, knowing that they had not stood there in vain, the evil smirk on Gongsun Wenling's face threatened to tear the girl's face.

Not willing to wait, the boy took the first step. The evil aura of the little aristocrat frightened him far more than showing disrespect to the mistress of the house. Resting his guan dao on the ground, he used the weapon as leverage to push the platform higher. Only the teacher had time to react to his actions.

-Yui? What the-

Part of the sentence sounded like a distant scream as the child miscalculated his strength and caused their stone platform to soar into the air. Flying on a curved trajectory, they landed on the edge of the training field. Getting to his feet, Yu smiled madly, happy that he could buy time to escape, but the approaching shout and flashes of flames forced him to slowly turn his head to the side.

With long leaps, Venling pushed herself off the ground, helping herself with volleys of fire from her arms and legs. Smelling her prey fleeing, the girl didn't hesitate to rush in pursuit, just as her brother had taught her. Unstoppable assault, constant attack and no compromise: even in the face of the end of the world should go only forward.

In ordinary life, the little lady could control her impulses, but now.... Overwhelmed by the emotions of meeting an old friend and angry at the long wait, she didn't even try to suppress her instilled reflexes.

Twirling his halberd, Yuu sent a stone hedge at the girl. In a wide arc, the stones seemed to sprout from the ground, coming closer and closer to Wenling. After sending a couple more of these blows, the orphan wanted to start towards the forest, but a premonition of danger from behind saved him at the last second. Twirling the shaft, he was raising a large stone shield in front of him when a fiery sickle rained down on him from above. Twisting through the air, Wenling didn't stop there, scrambling towards the stone shelter. With each step she pushed off the ground, sending volleys of fire into the earth shield. For the last couple of metres, the girl leaned forward, putting her clenched fist hands in front of her face. The girl's fists turned into a flamethrower, sending two jets of hot flame at her victim.

Coming in close, Wenling shattered the flimsy cover with a single kick of her foot. Before she could stand on her other foot, the girl's supporting limb went sideways, toppling the woman's body to the ground, from which Guan Yu leapt out. The blunt tip of the glaive crashed into the noblewoman's stomach, sending her flying. If there was a game of golf in this world, Yu had now made a magnificent pitch. His girlfriend's body flew about twenty metres, bouncing off the ground.

Realising the power of his hit, the boy dashed after Wenling's body. Along with him, the owners of the house, along with the teacher Kai, ran towards the girl. But halfway through, they all had to stop. Wenling emerged from the clouds of dust, two blades of fire in her hands, and the decorative elements of her dress were burning in the fire. A halo of flames surrounded the little conqueror. Like an evil mad spirit, she walked forwards, crushing those around her with her aura.

-I underestimated you... It's a good thing, I'm glad you've become stronger too.

The rush towards Yui was accompanied by more volleys of fire. Covering herself with fireballs, the girl sought to move into close combat to deprive her enemy of manoeuvre.

Instantly realising the plan, the orphan spun the guan dao, causing a veritable earthy inferno all around. With no control over his strength, Yu created haphazard blows in all directions. Devoid of any algorithm, the stone projectiles flew over the heads of not only the participants, but also the spectators. Stakes, boulders and small shrapnel pierced the air in search of targets. With a final blow, the boy tipped the full power of the guan dao to the ground in a leap, putting all of his conqueror's strength into the action.

A giant crack unfolded across the entire site. Just like a child tearing paper, Yu tore the training field. Not expecting such possibilities, the girl was forced to dodge and defend herself. With each reflected projectile, reason returned to Wenling, helping her to navigate the battlefield and not fall into a battle rage. With quick and pinpoint strikes, she destroyed the stone structures that Yuu generously sent around her.

The last blow forced the aristocrat to wrinkle her beastly face and retreat. The girl's very gut protested and demanded to attack further, but reason eventually won out.

The spectators who were watching the quick fight rushed to the participants of the battle. Master Kai was the quickest to reach the spot, overwhelming the boy with his mere presence. Frowning his grey eyebrows and glaring angrily through his spectacles, the old man stood beside the child, placing his hand on his shoulder.

At the same time, Sun Ming and her daughter reached their guest. Covered in bruises and scratches, the girl was covered in dirt and dust. She would have been a pitiful sight if it wasn't for the happy smile on her mouth.

-I didn't get to show you anything good this time, but I assure you, you'll lose next time.

Leaving the last word to herself, Wenling apologised for her appearance and proudly walked away. The girl's smooth and easy gait was accompanied by four surprised gazes.

Since that day, Gongsun Wenling had been trying to get into the Viceroy's manor by any means possible. Without hiding her interest, the little aristocrat often faced the young earth mage in battle, snatching victories from him with great difficulty. Three out of ten fights ended in the girl's favour, which irritated the latter, forcing her to train even harder.

Under Wenling's influence, the Viceroy's daughter also began to spend a lot of time on the training ground. Every day, Yu met Sun Ren, who was supervised by the fire magic masters, improving her skills a dozen metres away from him.

Sensing his disciple's attitude towards the two noble ladies, Master Cai used any excuse to arrange a sparring session between the children. If it was necessary for Miss Ren to get her teachers' permission, Wenling threw herself into the fight without even a second's hesitation.

The girl took real pleasure in hard fights with her motherless mate. Unlike the others, Yu wasn't intimidated by her brother's shadow, at least she thought so. Besides, the orphan was not a sycophant and behaved simply in socialising without being over the top. Of course, many aspects of veiled speech were closed to him and in the eyes of other noble and high ranking Guan Yu looks like a village fool, but what are his years.

Another fight between the two teenagers ended in Wenling's defeat. Having been hit in the side by a small stone, she flew a couple of metres away. Writhing in pain, the girl checked the integrity of her ribs and, after making sure there were no fractures, waved her hand reassuringly.

Taking a seat beside her, Guan Yu stared intently into her eyes. The boy had stretched even more in a couple of months, hovering over her already a full head. His shoulders had grown stronger, and his straight back made him look visually older. Not wanting to glare back, Wenling quickly turned away, concentrating on her wounds. Blushing at the tips of her ears, she watched the boy's movements with the corner of her eye, but she was slowly sinking into her own thoughts.

Unbeknownst to the noblewoman, she was brought out of her prostration by a touch on her shoulder. As long as Master Kai was the only one on the set, she could take some liberties.

-Let me help you.

Wiping the abrasions with a wet cloth, Yuu tried not to look at the girl's face. Her delicate little hands were covered in dirt and blood. Wiping away those spots gave him a view of her beautiful white skin that even the eternal sun of Lipin could not overcome. Mesmerised by the beauty of her hands, the boy didn't notice as he began fingering the small fingers with his free hand.

The sweet atmosphere between the two teenagers was shattered by a polite cough from the back. Teacher Kai hid a smile behind his fist and tried to make a threatening face. The two kids jumped up on the spot, scurrying off in different directions. While Yu straightened up to his full height and walked on straight legs towards the exit, Wenling tucked her chin and ignored other people's gazes.

As Yu walked away from the training field with a wooden gait, Cai bowed politely to the girl and offered his help.

-How can I leave such a young lady alone, covered in wounds. The boy has no restraint at all, I'll have to give him a prescription for that.

Grumbling under his breath, the old man tried to evoke some new emotions on the girl's face, but the cold detachment and politeness remained unchanged. Exhaling heavily, the master couldn't make up his mind for a long time, but remembering the smiling face of his apprentice, he decided to try.

-Mrs Wenling, let this old man ask.

-No,' the instant reply from the girl surprised the old wizard, 'I know what you want to talk about. My answer is no and it is none of your business. I thank you for your help.

Quickly rising from the ground, the young aristocrat kept her face from hurting and followed towards the exit.
