Chapter 122: Chapter 122: The Approaching Fallen Angels
"Thank you for sparing my brother, Demon King." Ravel lifted the hem of her princess dress, her face flushed as she bowed to Haru.
Behind her stood Riser, whose body was in tatters, reduced to just a head. Golden flames of the Phoenix burned fiercely at his neck, indicating he was in the cooldown period of his resurrection.
Riser's servants surrounded him tightly, continuously administering healing potions with restorative properties.
Haru wiped several kiss marks off his face and said in a light tone, "It's no big deal. Those who are unaware are not guilty!"
Himejima Akeno, Toujou Koneko, and Kiba Yuuto looked at Haru observing how effortlessly he lied without batting an eye.
He had clearly spared Riser due to the allure of beauty, yet he was making excuses about "those who are unaware are not guilty"?
"No wonder Haru-san's personality is so wicked; turns out he's the Lord's arch-enemy, the Demon King." Asia looked at Haru's back in shock, gaining a deep understanding of why his character was so malevolent.
Rias stared directly at Haru's face, feeling the blood in her body still stirring from when Haru used his powers earlier. In front of everyone, she let out a bitter laugh.
"you really have a wicked sense of humor..."
Because Rias's mother is a pure-blooded demon from the Bael clan, Rias inherited the Bael clan's Power of Destruction.
Recalling what Haru had told her earlier about Gods and Godslayers, she didn't believe any of it now, assuming he was the resurrected Demon King Bael.
After all, the strong resonance in her blood made more sense to Rias than his previous words; demons are a race that places great importance on bloodlines.
At that moment, a magic circle suddenly appeared on the ground beside them, emitting a dazzling red light that captured everyone's attention.
Haru's gaze shifted from the shy Ravel to the magic circle on the ground.
He sensed it, a presence emanating from the magic circle that posed a slight threat to him.
This kind of aura and sense of threat was something Haru had only felt from Rama in his complete form.
His attention instantly focused entirely on the magic circle, and the Earth authority within him began to tremble slightly.
Then, two figures appeared within the magic circle.
One was Grayfia, still wearing her maid outfit.
Beside Grayfia stood a man with flowing red hair, clad in jet-black armor. He raised his eyes and locked gazes with Haru.
Intense stares crossed, and the mental energies clashing through their eyes produced a subtle buzzing sound.
Upon seeing this red-haired man, everyone except Haru and the oblivious Asia displayed expressions of extreme shock.
Rias's face showed astonishment as she exclaimed, "Brother?!"
"Brother? That means... Maou Lucifer!!!" exclaimed everyone else in unison.
All except Haru widened their eyes, hurriedly kneeling on one knee toward the red-haired man, lowering their heads in respect.
Haru suddenly understood. only someone like Sirzechs, a Super Devil among demons, could exert such pressure on him.
Only a Super Devil could surpass gods, with strength comparable to Rama at full power, giving Haru a slight sense of threat.
After all, Super Devils are existences that transcend the very concept of the demon race.
At this moment, Sirzechs, who was staring at Haru, sighed softly and said, "Though I don't know how you've returned, please don't be so hostile, Ancestor-sama."
Haru looked puzzled, pointing to himself. "Ancestor? Are you referring to me?"
"Who else?" Rias glared at Haru's bewildered face, her tone filled with displeasure.
Although the original demons were chaotic beings who disregarded etiquette, modern demons have been thoroughly assimilated into human values.
Rias, possessing a normal human value system, found herself in the unfortunate position of dealing with a perverse ancestor; the fact that she hadn't burst into tears was a testament to her strong will.
Seeing Haru's confusion, Sirzechs offered a wry smile. He channeled the magic within him and released the aura of the Bael bloodline toward Haru.
Sensing the aura, which was strikingly similar to that of Melqart whom he had easily defeated before, Haru realized they had mistaken his identity.
Thinking about their misunderstanding, Haru's lips curled into a mischievous smile. He said to Sirzechs, "Grandson, did you come looking for me for something?"
Everyone kneeling on the ground couldn't help but twitch their mouths. Himejima Akeno even ignored Rias's darkening expression and burst into laughter.
Hearing himself addressed as "grandson," the wry smile on Sirzechs's face froze. He replied to Haru with a neutral expression, "Could you please inform me of the purpose of your return, Ancestor-sama?"
This was the main reason Sirzechs had urgently broken through various defenses to meet Haru here.
As the Demon King Bael, who also possessed the identity of the Red Dragon Emperor, Haru had become a significant unstable factor.
During the ceasefire and recovery period after the biblical Three Factions had suffered heavy losses, if this Great King rallied for another war, most demons might heed the call to battle the Fallen Angels and Angels once more.
The prestige of the first of Solomon's 72 Pillars was no trivial matter.
Being familiar with the original storyline, Haru could somewhat guess Sirzechs's thoughts. He tilted his head slightly and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear, "No need to be so tense. God is dead; I have no reason to cause any major disturbances. For now, I'll just hang around as a servant under your sister."
Sirzechs fixed his gaze on Haru's face, then smiled softly. "As expected, my sister's charm is quite powerful, to have even captivated Ancestor-sama."
"Brother!!!" Hearing Sirzechs's words, Rias immediately protested, her face flushed with embarrassment.
"Hey, Rias, long time no see. It seems you've been under a lot of pressure!" Sirzechs turned to her with a gentle smile.
"How can you say that! If it weren't for you and Father arranging that engagement without my consent, I wouldn't have been so troubled!" Rias glared at Sirzechs in frustration.
"Well, I admit that both Father and I were too hasty, but we had no choice; our family's heirs are so few," Sirzechs replied, shrugging like an easygoing older brother, a stark contrast to the imposing aura he had earlier.
"But now, there's no point dwelling on it. Your engagement can't proceed anymore, can it?"
Sirzechs's words made Rias tilt her head in confusion before realization dawned, and she brightened up. "Did the family agree to let me annul the engagement with Riser?"
"If they hadn't agreed, Ancestor-sama might have initiated a civil war. You've really outdone yourself, Rias, bringing even him into this."
Sirzechs gestured toward Haru. Rias turned to see the massive energy ball in Haru's hand and smiled awkwardly.
"Well then, I'll entrust my little sister to you, Bael-sama!" Sirzechs said with a light laugh, ignoring Rias's reddening face.
...
Several hours later, in the dilapidated church of Kuoh Town, a figure sat atop an inverted cross, ten wings spread from his back. He casually disintegrated a paper document, laughing maniacally in a frenzied tone.
"Bael has returned? What a joke! Azazel is such a fool, believing the demons' fake information."
He paused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Seems like the demons are quite weak internally, releasing false news to pretend they're stronger than they are."
"By the way, isn't that fake Bael also in this city? Might as well eliminate him while we're at it! Tear off the demons' facade of strength and strike directly at their hearts!"
"Proceed according to the original plan!!!"
"Yes!!" came numerous responses from below the cross.
