Cannon fodder in the Interstellar

Chapter 298 - The Prince's Wrath

The reason human survivors struggle so much in the apocalypse isn’t just because of harsh weather, mutated creatures, and zombie attacks—they also have to face infighting and mutual slaughter among their own kind.

Take this group, for example. When they saw two luxurious RVs parked outside the supermarket, they weren’t happy to find fellow human survivors. Instead, greed overtook them. As they glanced toward the supermarket, their eyes glinted with murderous intent, clearly planning to kill and seize the treasure.

Naturally, Ruo Manni and Hebrew Adam “saw” this scene and knew the newcomers had ill intentions. However, the two of them remained unmoved—they were entirely unafraid.

Wang Miaomiao and Liu Yang, on the other hand, were worried. In the past, when they were out on missions with a mercenary team to collect supplies, their biggest fear was encountering other mercenary teams.

If the power gap was too great, the weaker team would almost certainly be robbed. Their mercenary team had mid-to-high-level strength and had been robbed a few times but had also robbed others in return.

Luckily, the teams that robbed them weren’t overly ruthless. As long as they didn’t resist, those people would usually take most of the supplies and leave without killing anyone.

Some mercenary teams were particularly ruthless, and falling into their hands often meant certain death. Wang Miaomiao and Liu Yang dreaded encountering such teams.

As the saying goes, you attract what you fear. Just as the two were worrying, they saw a group of people enter the supermarket. Leading them was a burly man flanked by a sleazy-looking middle-aged lackey.

Wang Miaomiao’s expression remained steady, but Liu Yang’s face immediately changed when he recognized the burly man.

“Hey, boss, there are two stunning beauties in here! And a foreigner too!” the middle-aged lackey leered, his tone dripping with mockery.

But the man referred to as “boss” had already noticed Ruo Manni the moment he stepped inside. Lust flashed in his eyes as his gaze lingered on her.

Ruo Manni was dressed in a tight-fitting black combat suit that accentuated her stunning figure. For the first time, she experienced the unbearable discomfort of being ogled so blatantly.

Hebrew Adam didn’t understand their words, but he could easily discern the lecherous intent in the men’s eyes as they looked at Ruo Manni.

The moment he realized someone dared to look at ‘his’ Ruo Manni with such an expression, the prince was instantly furious. With a single hand, he grabbed a nearly one-ton shelving unit nearby and hurled it at the two men in front, smashing into them with tremendous force.

The two men struck by the shelving unit didn’t even have time to scream before falling silent, blood pooling around them.

The suddenness of the incident left the rest of the mercenaries frozen in shock. It took them two or three seconds to recover. One of the other apparent leaders shouted, “They killed the boss! Kill them!”

As he yelled, he fired at Hebrew Adam and Ruo Manni.

Standing further back, Liu Yang and Wang Miaomiao, still stunned by Hebrew Adam’s earlier display, saw the mercenaries shooting at the pair. They opened their mouths to scream.

But before their screams could escape, they realized something astonishing: Ruo Manni and the blond youth effortlessly dodged the bullets. While dodging, the blond youth casually flicked his right hand, and the gunfire abruptly ceased. The six men firing at him all suddenly had small holes in their foreheads and fell backward, lifeless.

The ability to dodge bullets alone was terrifying enough, but to kill six armed men with a single flick of his hand? The remaining mercenaries were overwhelmed with fear and fled in panic, abandoning their fallen comrades as they ran for their lives.

Hebrew Adam, having dealt with those who needed to be dealt with, didn’t bother chasing the rest. He let them go without a second glance.

Wang Miaomiao and Liu Yang were left utterly dumbfounded. They had sensed that this blond youth exuded the strongest aura among the twelve, assuming he was likely the most powerful.

However, since Hebrew Adam had rarely taken action during their journey, they had no clear grasp of his combat abilities.

Now, after witnessing this display, the pair felt nothing but awe and reverence. It was no wonder this blond youth was the leader of such an extraordinary group.

Not only had he casually lifted a nearly one-ton object to kill two people effortlessly, but he had also managed to dodge bullets from six guns and kill the shooters with precision in the blink of an eye.

How terrifyingly strong must his combat abilities be?

Ruo Manni observed Wang Miaomiao and Liu Yang’s expressions and was satisfied to see that the pair were only shocked by Hebrew Adam’s extraordinary combat abilities, without showing any aversion to his swift and lethal actions in killing eight people in under a minute.

If either of them had shown discomfort or rejection toward Hebrew Adam’s actions, Ruo Manni wouldn’t have allowed them to stay with the group.

Hebrew Adam wasn’t a man who killed indiscriminately; otherwise, none of the fleeing mercenaries would have escaped.

If it hadn’t been for their leader first attempting to seize their RVs and then blatantly showing lustful intentions toward Ruo Manni, Hebrew Adam wouldn’t have killed him so decisively.

“That group should be the Blue Wolf Mercenary Corps,” Liu Yang said.

“What? The Blue Wolf Mercenary Corps!” Wang Miaomiao exclaimed in shock, casting another glance of profound awe toward Hebrew Adam.

“Who are they?” Ruo Manni asked, intrigued.

“The nearest base to ours is a private one, notorious for being established by former criminals. The mercenary groups there are ruthless and kill without hesitation. Although the Blue Wolf Mercenary Corps is only ranked third in strength, every nearby base knows their victims are always tortured to death,” Liu Yang explained with disgust.

“You killed the strongest among their group today. This will save many survivors from death in the future,” Wang Miaomiao said with a hint of gratitude.

“It’s said that the leader of the Blue Wolf Mercenary Corps is a Tier-3 ability user. Your captain is incredible,” Liu Yang added, full of admiration for the cold but immensely powerful blond youth.

Ruo Manni smiled but didn’t comment. She knew that even she, with the lowest physical combat level in their group, could have hurled that heavy shelving unit with ease.

The gunshots and screams had alerted the elite team members collecting supplies upstairs. They rushed down to find their president had clashed with other humans and killed eight people. They weren’t particularly surprised.

They understood that anyone Hebrew Adam chose to kill had undoubtedly crossed his boundaries.

“We need to leave immediately,” Liu Yang urged. “The sound of the vehicles, gunfire, and the smell of blood will attract all the zombies in the area. Even though you’re incredibly strong, this city could have tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of zombies.”

In just a short time, more than a dozen zombies had gathered outside the supermarket building. From his past experience, Liu Yang didn’t even need to observe to know that the surrounding zombies were definitely converging on their location.

Hearing Liu Yang’s warning, Ruo Manni “scanned” the surroundings. Liu Yang was indeed correct—within her “vision” range, all the zombies that had heard the noise were now shuffling and staggering in their direction.

The area she observed covered a wide range, and at least ten thousand zombies were closing in. Although the elite team wasn’t afraid of them, dealing with such a massive number would still be exhausting. Their top priority now was to reach the B City base before the heavy rainy season arrived.
