Chapter 7: Chapter 7: A plans to take care of him
Vadal chuckled and stood up, his movements fluid and deliberate. He walked towards the bathroom, his eyes never leaving Lira's face. As he disappeared into the bathroom, Lira couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment.
Lira's mind began to wander as she thought about the gentle way Vadal had pinched her cheek. It was a small, intimate gesture that spoke volumes about their growing connection. She smiled to herself, feeling a sense of hope that their marriage might become something more than just a convenient arrangement.
Ring, Ring, Lira's phone vibrated, breaking the intimate moment. She glanced at the screen and saw Laurent's name flashing. Her face turn black with anger, hesitating for a moment she answered walking towards the balcony.
Her eyes darting back towards the bedroom, ensuring Vadal was still in the shower. She took a deep breath, her voice barely above a whisper. "Laurent, what do you want?"
Laurent's voice was smooth, his words dripping with familiarity. "I just wanted to check in, see how you're doing. How's married life treating you, Lira?"
Lira's grip on the phone tightened, her mind racing with memories of her past with Laurent.
Her eyes narrowing, her voice firm. "Laurent, I've been ignoring your calls for a reason. What's so important that you can't leave me alone?"
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, Lira wondered if Laurent had hung up.
"Babe, I know you're angry with me because I'm delaying our plan," Laurent said calmly. "As I promised you in the past, I will save you from Vadal and marry you, Lira. We are meant to be together, babe. Don't be angry at me anymore."
Lira felt a surge of panic in her heart. What was Laurent up to? She tried to keep her tone neutral, but her mind was racing with questions. "What are you talking about, Laurent? What plan?"
Laurent's voice was smooth and reassuring. "Since Vadal refuses to sign the divorce, I've had to make other arrangements. Let's just say that I have a plan to take care of him. We can discuss the details tomorrow."
Lira's heart skipped a beat as she realized the implication of Laurent's words. "What do you mean, take care of him?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Laurent's tone turned persuasive. "Babe, trust me. This is for our future together. We'll be happy, just the two of us. I'll explain everything tomorrow. Meet me at the usual place?"
Lira's heart was racing as she stood on the balcony, her phone still clutched in her hand. She felt a chill run down her spine as she replayed Laurent's words in her mind. What did he have planned for Vadal? And why did she get the feeling that it was something sinister?
Lira's eyes widened as she thought about the potential consequences of Laurent's actions. She knew that Vadal was a powerful man, but she also knew that Laurent was ruthless when it came to getting what he wanted. What if Laurent's plan put Vadal in danger? Or worse, what if it put her in danger?
Lira felt torn. A part of her still had feelings for Laurent, but another part of her was drawn to Vadal. She didn't know what to do or who to trust. All she knew was that she had to protect Vadal from Laurent's sinister plans.
Lira turned back, entering the room with a sense of unease settling in the pit of her stomach. Her mind was still reeling from the conversation with Laurent, and she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
As she turn to walk into the room, ahhh" she was stunned and frightened, losing her balance and falling to the ground. She hadn't seen Vadal standing beside her the whole time, his cold gaze piercing through her very soul. He caught her before she fell, his grip firm but gentle.
Lira's eyes widened in shock as she stared up at Vadal's unyielding gaze. She felt a shiver run down her spine, her heart racing with anticipation. Why is he standing here, Had he discovered something?
Vadal's eyes seemed to bore into Lira's soul, as if searching for any sign of deception. His gaze was cold, calculating, and it sent shivers down Lira's spine.
He held her upright, his grip firm but gentle. "What's wrong, Lira?" he asked, his voice low and even.
Lira's heart was racing, her mind reeling from the shock of seeing Vadal standing there. She had been so lost in her thoughts, she hadn't even heard him approach. She tried to speak, but her voice caught in her throat.
How long have you been standing there, watching me? Lira asked, feeling a shiver run down her spine. Vadal's eyes seemed to bore into her soul, as if searching for any sign of deception.
"I just walked in," Vadal replied, his voice low and even. "What are you doing out here alone?"
Lira felt a wave of relief wash over her. He hadn't heard anything. She forced a smile onto her face. "I came out to receive some fresh air and speak with my friend."
Vadal stared at her, his eyes narrowing slightly. Lira could sense his skepticism, but he didn't push the issue. "If you're done, come down for dinner," he said, his tone neutral.
Lira quickly took advantage of the reprieve, walking away as fast as she could without arousing suspicion. She could feel Vadal's eyes on her, boring into her back.
Vadal's eyes narrowed, his gaze following Lira as she quickly walked away. He could sense the nervousness emanating from her, and his instincts told him that something was off.
A murmuring, cold smile appeared on his handsome face. Little phoenix, you are still lying to me. He knew it was Laurent that Lira had spoken with, and he had caught snippets of their conversation - something about a plan. But he didn't know what the plan was, and that lack of knowledge gnawed at him.
Vadal's eyes hardened, his jaw clenched in determination. I know your sudden change is up to no good. You are still plotting against me. I would uncover your secrets, no matter the cost.
Vadal's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. He would play a game with Lira, pretending to be unaware of her scheming. It was a delicate balance, but he was confident in his ability to keep up the charade.
At dinner, Vadal was his usual calm charming self, Lira engaging him in conversation and making him laugh. But beneath the surface, he was watching her, studying her every move. He was waiting for her to slip up, to reveal something that would give him the upper hand.
Lira, sensing that Vadal was watching her, was on her guard. She was careful to keep her conversation light and superficial, avoiding any topics that might arouse suspicion. But despite her caution, she couldn't shake the feeling that Vadal was playing a game with her, that he was hiding something behind his charming smile.
As they ate, Vadal dropped a bombshell. "I'm going on a business trip tomorrow."
