Chapter 9: Chapter 9: I will make sure he suffer
Lira's heart felt heavy with emotion, weighed down by the secrets she kept and the promises she had broken. She knew that she was taking a risk, but she was willing to do whatever it took to protect Vadal.
Beep beep, her phone vibrated on the bed, breaking the silence. Lira picked it up, her eyes scanning the screen. It was a message from her step-sister, Emma.
"
Sis, what's keeping you? Laurent has already been waiting for you for two hours now. Where are you? Are you still in the estate or did that devil lock you up?" Emma's message read.
Lira's fingers flew across the keyboard as she typed out a response. "What is the plan?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Oh, meet Laurent at the exit location, then you guys can discuss it. I don't really know what his plans are," Emma replied.
Lira typed out a brief "ok" before tossing the phone aside. She quickly got dressed.
transforming into a ruggedly beautiful tomboy, her usual elegance replaced by a more edgy, carefree look. She wore a pair of fitted trousers, a loose-fitting polo top, and a cap that shaded her eyes. A sweet lingered in her mouth, giving her an air of quiet confidence.
With her new look, Lira slipped out of the estate, avoiding detection by the prying eyes of the staff. She knew that Vadal had eyes and ears everywhere, and she couldn't risk being caught sneaking out.
Lira made her way to the pre-arranged meeting spot, her heart racing with anticipation. She was about to meet with Laurent, and she had no idea what to expect. Would he have a plan to take down Vadal, or would he have something entirely different in mind?
As Lira walked, she felt a sense of freedom that she hadn't experienced in a long time. She was taking control of her life, making decisions that would impact her future. It was exhilarating, and terrifying, all at once.
As she walked, Lira felt a mix of emotions swirling inside her. She was anxious about meeting Laurent and discussing their plan, but she was also determined to see it through. She was tired of all this planing, planning of a thing. and she was ready to stop it soon.
After a few minutes of walking, Lira arrived at the meeting spot, a small café on the outskirts of town. She looked around cautiously, her eyes scanning the area for any signs of trouble.
Just as Lira was starting to get anxious, Laurent appeared, his tall figure emerging from the crowd. He smiled when he saw Lira, and she felt a sense of relief wash over her.
Laurent nodded at Lira, his eyes scanning the area to make sure they were alone. "Thanks for coming," he said, his voice low and serious.
Lira nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. What did Laurent have planned, and was she really ready to take on Vadal?
Laurent led Lira to a quiet table in the back of the café, where they sat down and ordered a couple of coffees. The atmosphere was tense.
"
What your plans?" Lira asked, her eyes locked intensely on Laurent. "I plan to take Vadal's business empire down, piece by piece," Laurent replied, a confident smile spreading across his face. "By gathering evidence of his wrongdoing, we can expose him for the corrupt businessman he is."
Laurent's expression turned serious, his eyes narrowing slightly. "But I couldn't get any evidence, no matter how hard I tried. Vadal's too clever, too well-connected."
Laurent's gaze intensified, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "But I have a plan B. First, you need to do something for me, something that will secure our lives in the future."
Lira narrowed her eyes, her mind racing with possibilities. What did Laurent want her to do? And what did he mean by "securing their lives"? She listened intently, her expression neutral, as she waited for Laurent to reveal his plan.
"First, you have to transfer the whole asset Vadal keeps under your name to my name," Laurent said, his eyes locked intensely on Lira. "So I can secure them for you and him."
Lira's expression changed, her eyes narrowing slightly as she processed Laurent's request. She seemed to be calculating the risks and benefits of his proposal.
Lira's voice was laced with skepticism as she responded, "You want me to transfer Vadal's assets to your name?" She paused, studying Laurent's face for any sign of deception.
Laurent nodded, his expression serious. "Yes, that's right. I need you to transfer the assets to my name, so I can secure them for both of us."
Lira's instincts seemed to be screaming warning signals. She didn't seem convinced by Laurent's explanation, and her eyes flashed with a hint of suspicion.
A cold, calculating smile spread across Lira's lips as she gazed at Laurent. Her eyes seemed to bore into his soul, as if she could see right through his deception.
"You want me to transfer Vadal's assets to your name, so you can run away with it and my step-sister, leaving me here to face the consequences?" Lira's voice was laced with venom, her words dripping with disdain. "And Vadal will kill me, no doubt. Dream on, Laurent." Her thoughts swirled with calculation, her mind racing with possibilities. She had fallen for Laurent's tricks before, but not this time. This time, she was ready.
As Lira gazed at Laurent, a scheming smile spread across her lips. She had a plan.
Lira's eyes widened in pretended fear, her voice trembling. "Do you think about what you're asking me to do? Vadal will kill me if he finds out."
Laurent's expression turned condescending, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "You can do it, babe," he said, his voice dripping with persuasion. "I know you can. And remember, he won't hurt you, even if he does catch you. He won't kill you."
Lira's face remained frozen in fear, but her mind was racing. She knew Laurent was trying to manipulate her, but she was determined to play along.
"You're right," Lira said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll do it. But you have to promise me you'll protect me if anything goes wrong."
Laurent's smile widened, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "I promise, babe. I'll always protect you."
Lira's heart sank, her mind racing with the implications. She knew she had to tread carefully, to keep Laurent thinking she was under his control. What's your plan on vadal?"
Laurent leaned in close, his lips brushing against Lira's ear. "My plan is to take Vadal down, to destroy everything he's built, I will plot an accident for him, if it didn't work out my plan C is, I will bribe people to end him off" he whispered, his voice barely audible how he did to my family."
Lira's eyes locked onto Laurent's, her mind racing with the implications. She could see the intensity in his eyes, the determination to bring Vadal down.
I'll make sure Vadal pays for what he's done to you, to my family," Laurent whispered, his voice filled with conviction. "I'll make sure he suffers."
