Courting Death System

The scientist couldn't believe what his eyes were showing him. A man who had died without even a corpse had suddenly come back to life. He quickly took out his communication token, a tool similar to a phone and used for communication but was very different from a phone. After pouring mana into the token, a 3D hologram of Father James appeared. 

"What is it?!"

"I think you should take a look for yourself," said the scientist. 

Father James's hologram turned around to look at what the scientist was talking about and what he saw shook him to the core. 

"I'll be right there!" said Father James.

The hologram tthen disappeared and about five minutes later, Father James entered the lab with the other scientists following behind him. All of them had shocked and excited expressions because Lucius was worth studying. 

Father James stood in front of the human pod and knocked on it gently as not to break it.

"Boy, wake up!" he said. 

"Fuck off you virgin geezer!" said Lucius angrily as he slowly opened his eyes. He was sleeping quite peacefully when he was suddenly woken by Father James. 

"Wearing the same clothes everyday, no wonder you're still a virgin. How old are you? Doesn't matter but surely you're old enough to have grandkids haha! Somebody please get this virgin geezer away from my eyes!" mocked Lucius. 

Father James's eye and lips twitched while everyone else desperately held themselves back from laughing or they'd suffer a fate worse than death.

"Weakass bitches!"

Father James didn't say anything and just looked at Lucius, he seemed to be studying him while Lucius ignored the old man and just kept cursing as if his life depended on it. About ten minutes later, when Lucius had also sat quietly inside the glass pod, only then did Father James. 

"Quite the temper you have there. You weren't like this yesterday or the days before but look how short tempered you now are. Like a short fuse that can go off anytime. So your talent is to obtain the traits of the objects that kill you. So you received your cold temperament from Eternal Ice Water, I wonder what that poison pill gave you?"

Lucius had intentionally ignored the old man but when he started talking about his talent and stuff about poisons and water, it all started to make sense. He thought back to the random thoughts he'd had a few days ago and connected the dots. His expression changed numerous times before he uttered a single word. 

"Julia."

Father James didn't even try to deny it and even nodded in agreement. With the time Lucius was going to spend here, he'd have realised it sooner or later so denying it now was pointless. What Father didn't expect was for Lucius to suddenly smile in genuine excitement and relief. 

"Hahaha! Old man, you're not bad! If you release me right now. I'll spare your life and pretend that all of this never happened. What do you say?" offered Lucius. 

Father James could also tell from Lucius's expression and body language that he was absolutely serious about his proposal. After years of dealing with people, Father James could read most of them like an open book, this was also why he was able to tell that Lucius had changed. But what stumped him was why Lucius was so ecstatic after hearing that he'd died twice and killed by someone whom he trusted. 

"Boy, I think your recent death has affected your mind. Why would I let you go after seeing just how of great value you are? Something so good doesn't exist here. You shall become our research material until we've uncovered all of your secrets, only then will I consider letting you go. For now, just stay put and be a good lab rat." said Father James calmly. 

"Hahaha! In the future, don't say I didn't give you a chance to save your pathetic life but you didn't cherish it. I'll tell you right now, you don't know what or who you're dealing with old man! Remember, I did give you a chance but you wasted it."

The reason why Lucius had suddenly become so bold and brave as to offer Father James a chance to live in exchange for letting him go was very simple. If his system worked exactly as he had created it then Father James and his crew were truly fucked. And he gave him this offer because he was grateful for what Father James and Julia had done for him. 

They'd helped him accomplish someone he couldn't do alone which was committing suicide to see whether the system worked or not. If not for them, he'd truly have been in the dark about this great power he had so for helping him, he tried to give them a way out and sever the Karma between the two of them. 

"Since you're so excited and talkative, it must mean that you've rested enough for our next experiment. You've survived being poisoned, frozen and burned, let's see how you do when drowned, hehe." said Father James. 

The holes on the floor of his glass pod opened up as water started to fill and rise up. Lucius didn't panic, curse or do any of the things he'd done previously. Instead, he just waited calmly for his death. He then died after the container was filled with water and they left his corpse inside the container and just drained the water inside.

Lucius had been subjected to all kinds of experiments in the past few days. These weren't even experimental methods but torture methods because he died inhumane deaths that he wouldn't wish upon his greatest enemy. After death by being drowned, he had also been electrocuted, squashed, death by explosion, death by acids and today he'd just been exposed to gaseous toxins and died. 

"How is the progress? Have you figured out the cause of his revivals? A trigger inside his body that makes all of this possible?" asked Father James while gazing at Lucius's incomplete corpse.

"No Sir but we're working on it. Unlike the others, we aren't able to identify any anomaly inside his body and there's no phenomenon that occurs within him or at least we haven't discovered it. He just comes back to life." said the head researcher. 

"Mhm. What about the traits he's obtained after this past week of experiments? Any progress there?"

"We weren't able to discover many of them as he seems to be hiding them but we've discovered that after using an explosion to kill him, his emotions have become uncontrollable. He just cries for no reason and sometimes gets angry." explained the head researcher. 

Father James hadn't visited the place since he watched Lucius drown. As a man of importance in the chance, he had a lot of things on his plate and couldn't always be here. 

"Don't hide anything from me and tell me or if I find out the truth by myself, your expertise will no longer be needed. Everything about him should be reported to me so speak freely!" said Father James after seeing the lady's hesitation. With a bright red face, she reported her other discoveries. 

"He…he…he…"

"WHAT?! SPEAK PROPERLY!" 

"He seems to have an electric penis. It was after he was electrocuted to death that his penis became electric. Also, it's constantly vibrating and we don't know its effects."
