Danmachi: Strongest Familia

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: ‘Reliable Yordles’

"I'll get someone to clean up the hall. It wouldn't do for the newcomers to arrive to such a mess," Riveria remarked.

Hearing her words, Sol thought of the mountain of magic stones scattered across the hall, now reduced to a heap of drained, useless shards.

'Parallel consciousness, you really have the makings of a slacker,' he mused. 'After I worked so hard to gather all these magic stones, you just devoured them all and left the mess behind?'

Surely, if the children around saw this mountain of waste, they'd be full of questions.

But suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck him. With a wave of his hand, a massive portal opened on the living room floor, swallowing the waste pile in a single sweep. 'This trash is a problem for Valoran now,' he thought. 'At least there's enough space there for all of it.'

Within seconds, the portal closed, and the hall was clear.

"Alright, that's handled!" Sol said, brushing his hands with a satisfied grin.

Riveria, watching from the side, raised a brow. "Are you sure this is allowed? You know the gods aren't supposed to use divine powers in the lower realms. If they catch you, they'll send you straight back to heaven."

"Relax, as long as I'm not caught, it doesn't count. And this isn't even technically divine power." He gave her a mischievous smile, patting her head as if to ease her worry.

Sol knew that the magic wasn't truly divine power in the traditional sense, so he was confident in bending the rules without repercussions.

"Alright then," he announced, eyes sparkling with excitement. "Time for a six-fold summoning!"

Having learned from his earlier experience, he prepared himself this time, firmly controlling his parallel consciousness.

"Summoning successful! Summoned entity: the Explosive Menace, Ziggs!"

"Summoning successful! Summoned entity: the Furious Cavalier, Kled!"

"Summoning successful! Summoned entity: the Tidecaller, Fizz!"

Sol's excitement faltered for a moment as he took in the names. He snuck a quick glance at Riveria, trying to gauge her reaction. With such chaotic newcomers, the peaceful days might be numbered.

'Please let the next three be more manageable,' he thought, almost in silent prayer.

"Summoning successful! Summoned entity: the Machine Gunner, Tristana!"

"Summoning successful! Summoned entity: the Heart of Madness, Kennen!"

"Summoning successful! Summoned entity: the Heroic Bomber, Corki!"

Reliable Yordles at last! Sol felt a wave of relief. In just a few minutes, he'd been on an emotional rollercoaster.

Yet something was missing. 'Where are Veigar and Heimerdinger?'

At least with Kennen and Corki around, the odds of chaos could be slightly reduced. He hoped that with a little luck, these newcomers might bring some balance to Orario.

The six Yordles emerged from the portal, each one displaying their unique personalities. Leading the pack was Kled, strutting forward with a brash confidence as he rode his companion, Skaarl. The sight made Riveria put a hand to her head, clearly anticipating the challenge these newcomers might bring.

Surprisingly, though, the Yordles' entrance went more smoothly than Sol had expected, with none of the anticipated chaos. Kennen, as the elder, seemed to command a quiet respect, even from the boisterous Kled, who behaved with relative restraint in Kennen's presence.

"You're all very welcome, my children," Sol greeted, arms open.

"Lord Creator, we have kept you waiting!" Kennen said, bowing to Sol, with Tristana and the others soon following suit.

Seeing their reverence, Sol knew he could rely on Kennen. Perhaps Kennen could be entrusted with managing the younger, more restless Yordles in the family. With him in charge, Riveria could finally get some respite.

"Kennen, step forward. I'll grant you a favor first."

One by one, Sol granted favors to each Yordle, a significant endeavor in itself. He barely glanced at their skills as he bestowed each blessing, his mind drifting back to his early days, recalling the night he'd granted favor to Riveria and over twenty elves in one sitting. A memorable evening, indeed.

"From here on, I'll rely on you to care for these young ones," he told Kennen.

"Yes, of course!" Kennen replied, nodding without hesitation, his ninja discipline evident in every movement. Seeing Kennen's capable demeanor lifted Riveria's spirits as well, reinvigorating her for the task of getting them settled.

With this addition, the Yordles now accounted for nearly a third of the family. Finally, the group had more diversity, no longer exclusively composed of elves.
