Chapter 17: ch17
"Building B, Room 402." Mike followed Alex's instructions, drove around the community, and then came to our car.
"Well done!" Alex nodded.
"Get out of the car and take control of the situation first, but be very careful and don't let him find you. That guy is not that easy to deal with."
"Yes, Captain Alex." With the tacit understanding between the two after years of cooperation, Mike naturally knew what Alex meant, so he just did what he said.
Mike took his police officer ID and went to find the property security guards, asking them to pay special attention to John Doe's car and report it immediately if they found him leaving the community.
Mike checked the surveillance of the community property, pulled up the surveillance in and around Building C, and transferred them to his laptop so that he could monitor John Doe's every move from the car.
They are very familiar with doing these things. I knew nothing about them at first, but over time, some knowledge about this has been left in my mind.
Although I am a forensic doctor, at Alex's request, I would often accompany him in investigating cases.
I glanced at the time, and before I knew it, several hours had passed. John Doe seemed to be stalling for time on purpose, but I didn't know what Alex was thinking. He hadn't made a move yet. What was he waiting for?
Although this guy hadn't made any moves yet, we must not take it lightly. From Alex's expression, I could tell that he was waiting for an opportunity to act. Once the opportunity came, he would act immediately.
"Mike, go take a look first and find out the situation here. I want to make sure everything is safe and that no one is involved in this matter. It won't bring danger to anyone."
Mike nodded, then got out of the car, opened the trunk, and used some things in the car to make a simple disguise, making him look like an ordinary college student.
About 15 minutes later, Mike came out of the community and nodded to Alex.
"This residential complex was built not long ago, so there aren't many people living here. The one with the curtains drawn is his family. Many of the other families either don't have anyone living there or are renovating their homes."
"What's the situation with the suspect?"
"He hasn't come out since he went in. There's music playing in the room all the time, and it's a symphony. I didn't expect this guy to know how to enjoy himself." Mike said.
"It's broken! Follow me."
Alex seemed to have thought of something, he suddenly opened the car door and ran out quickly. Mike followed him, and the two of them moved forward quickly after hearing the order.
I usually never get involved in matters like this. After all, even if I went there, I would probably just be a burden. But I should be able to guess what happened.
John Doe was trying to escape, or perhaps he had already discovered us, and the curtains might just be a decoy for us.
"Chief Carter, I'll go down and take a look." Just as Lucy was about to leave, I held her shoulder.
"You'd better not make trouble. After all, Alex will handle these things very well."
But I underestimated the woman in front of me. Lucy was very fast and caught up with me directly.
"Come back!" I shouted.
But Lucy seemed to be completely deaf to my words, so I could only follow her, thinking that a woman like this would only cause trouble. It was already this late, and she was still making trouble.
But about two minutes later, I received a call from Alex.
"Ryan, go to the basement as fast as you can. I suspect the suspect is in there now. Be careful. I'll be down soon."
After hearing Alex's words, I suddenly turned to the underground parking lot. After all, I was the closest to there now.
I burst into full speed in an instant. No matter what, I couldn't let that bastard get away this time.
When I arrived at the entrance of the parking lot, I suddenly saw a man wearing a hat and a mask walking towards me. When he walked past me, he bumped into my arm.
At that moment, a picture suddenly entered my mind. A scene appeared in my mind. There were many flowers around, and there was a strange fragrance.
It was a very strange smell. For a moment, I even felt dizzy.
I knew the person I was looking for was him, John Doe.
"Don't move!" I grabbed his arm as I spoke, but I didn't expect him to punch me directly. I turned sideways, and he broke free from my control and ran into the parking lot again.
Looking at his back, I was unwilling to give up. I absolutely did not want to miss this opportunity, and in an instant, I used the fastest speed to catch up with him.
I saw him turn in the other direction of the parking lot with my own eyes, but when I chased after him, I could no longer see him, and I couldn't even hear his footsteps.
But I knew he should be here, this place is big, and there are many cars parked here. I knew he should be hiding behind or under a car.
"Come out, I know you are here. Come back with me and accept an investigation!" I shouted.
But it was only my own voice that echoed throughout the parking lot. It had become very quiet around me, and now I could feel my own breathing getting louder.
I subconsciously took out a scalpel from my sleeve and pressed the blade with my finger. I was ready, ready to fight this guy to the death.
I slowed down my pace, adjusted my breathing, and tried to maximize my senses so that I could hear the slightest sound.
Maybe he saw me slowing down, and unexpectedly he came out from behind one of the cars.
"Who are you? How did you find me?"
I didn't choose to answer, and I couldn't tell him how I found him. Later I found out that he had known that someone was following him, so he found a way to divert our attention, and then changed his clothes in the underground parking lot. Then, as he expected, he could walk past us in broad daylight without anyone noticing him.
But unfortunately, he met me.
John Doe rushed towards me without saying a word, and I rushed towards him too. He had nothing in his hands, but I had a scalpel, so I had no reason to be afraid. Besides, I had to buy enough time to wait for rescue.
"Bang!"
"Don't move! I'll shoot if you move again!" Alex shot at the top of our heads, but this shot made us both stop at the same time.
John Doe turned around and tried to run, but Alex fired another shot, hitting the ground two centimeters away from his heel.
"Don't move! This is my last warning to you!" Alex roared again.
John Doe stopped and slowly squatted on the ground. A minute later, other people came and subdued John Doe and escorted him out of the parking lot.
Alex then breathed a sigh of relief and gave me a thumbs up.
"Thank you for your hard work, let's call it a day."
When John Doe walked past me, he suddenly looked at me. That expression seemed like a smile, but it gave me a creepy feeling...
I don't know why he could still laugh under such circumstances. His crime was enough to sentence him to death several times.
