DEATH NOTE:NOTE OF DEATH

Chapter 19: ch19

Grabbing my wrist at such a close distance shows that this man is an expert and his strength is greater than mine.

"Ryan! It's me!"

His voice was so loud that the surrounding sensor lights lit up in an instant. When I saw this face, I was startled and quickly took back the scalpel in my hand.

"Alex? What are you doing?"

"I was just about to ask you, what do you want to do? If I hadn't reacted quickly, you would have to stay in the hospital for several months even if you didn't die." Alex shook my hand aside and looked very angry.

"Why are you following me when you have nothing better to do? It would be fine if you just followed me, but why were you sneaking around like that? Do you know how dangerous it was just now? I thought you were some dangerous person."

"Nonsense, how would I know you would want to run like crazy?"

Alex said that he was following me and wanted to talk to me about the details of the case and other things. But I sped up and when we arrived at the gate of the community, Alex wanted to call me, but I had already gone upstairs. If he hadn't reacted quickly, he would have been locked out.

"Who knew that you would suddenly stop while running? I thought something happened to you. I couldn't even hear your footsteps. I thought you had an accident." Alex said angrily. It was obvious that he was still angry because I almost took his life just now.

I brought Alex to my house, turned on the lights, spent a few minutes making him a cup of coffee, and placed it on the coffee table.

Alex picked up the cup of coffee and smelled it. "Wow, your skills are amazing. But you're a weird guy. You're so good at making coffee, but I've never seen you drink it."

"The coffee tastes really good, but I just don't like it very much."

"Tell me, what's wrong with you?" Alex saw that it was boring to talk to me about this topic, so he just changed the subject.

"Nothing."

Alex put down the coffee in his hand and looked at me. "Nothing, are you sure?" Alex's expression was very serious, as if he was interrogating a suspect. "You almost took my life today!"

I didn't answer.

Seeing that I didn't answer, Alex suddenly came to my side and asked, "Ryan, have you been threatened? If there is such a thing, you must tell me and I will help you solve it."

"You think too much. I might just be too tired recently. I just need to take a rest."

Alex had actually guessed half right. Now even I feel as if I am under a threat all the time, and this threat is invisible, as if someone is watching me all the time. Although I have never seen this person, an extreme sense of uneasiness has always surrounded me.

"The reason I came here today is not only to get your final opinion on this case, but also to find a time to see a psychiatrist with me. I've told you before, but you always make excuses in front of me. This time, I won't listen to you no matter what you say."

I wanted to refuse, but I had no choice. After all, if I didn't agree to his request today, I would not be able to sleep well tonight. Because of Alex's personality, if he didn't achieve his goal, he would do whatever it took, or just nag me all night. I wouldn't be able to go to work tomorrow...

The first ray of light in the morning was so dazzling through the curtains. I simply folded the quilt and saw that it was still early, so I prepared some breakfast for myself.

A murder case has just been concluded, and now it seems that some things don't need me anymore. The strong pressure before has finally disappeared after yesterday's rest.

I just turned on the fire, but unexpectedly my cell phone rang at this moment.

"Ryan, no matter where you are, come back immediately. There's another case. I'll take some people over to take a look. I'll send you the address later. Just bring your guys over."

I hung up the phone and turned off the fire. After all, for someone like me, I am much more interested in the dead than the living. Many people even think that I am a psychopath who always deals with the dead. But I think other people's opinions are not important. As long as I stick to my original intention, it will be fine...

I returned to the police station, grabbed my toolbox, and headed straight to the murder scene.

The murder scene is near a garbage disposal plant in the East District. There is a suffocating smell all around. Almost all of the city's daily domestic garbage is dumped here. Originally this was an open space, but it has been piled up into a huge mountain.

After crossing the cordon, Mike saw me and greeted me. "Chief Carter, why did you come just now? Everyone has been waiting for you for a long time."

"Where's Captain Alex?"

"Captain Alex is inside. Everyone is waiting for you."

Under the guidance of Mike, I arrived at the scene. Alex had already started working around with a few people. Lucy was squatting beside the corpse. When she saw me coming, she stood aside.

"Section Chief Carter."

I nodded and found a man leaning quietly against a worn-looking wooden stake. He looked like he was asleep. There was no blood around him, and the dead man's expression seemed very calm. If people didn't know he was dead, many people would think that this young man was probably just sitting here and taking a nap.

He looked to be in his 20s, but when I was trying to determine the time of death, I suddenly saw what seemed to be signs of movement behind him.

"Who touched the body?"

I shouted, then looked at Lucy, "Has anyone moved the body?" Lucy also seemed a little surprised. "I still have some common sense. How could I dare to move the body before you came? So it wasn't me."

The traces were still new, and the weather was good today, so there wasn't that much wind. It was absolutely impossible for the corpse to move by itself at the beginning, unless someone had touched it.

"Who is it? Stand up!"

After a while, the intern came to me, lowering his head and glancing at me from time to time. "Chief Carter... Section Chief Carter, it's... it's me." His voice was very low, and if he wasn't close enough, I probably wouldn't be able to hear what he was saying.

"Asshole! Who told you to move the body? Come on, two men, take him away, and make him explain what he did!"

"Ryan, it's not that serious, right?" Alex came to me, patted my shoulder and said.

"This rookie, my previous action is likely to make the most important clue on the body disappear. Why do you always have to go with a rookie like this every time you carry out a mission? One day he will cause big trouble. This person is not honest, so you better be careful."

Because I know that the last person who sneaked into my studio was this guy...
