Chapter 421: Chapter 421: The Hand of Ansul
"Too little." Looking at the azure blood in the crystal bottle, the Golden Dragon Mother was somewhat dissatisfied.
"Contentment brings happiness," Muria said expressionlessly, watching the Wind King Eagle lie back down and quoting an old proverb from his past life.
"Scoff!" The Golden Dragon Mother, Atelis, scoffed, "Such lack of ambition, where did you read that? Only the discontented can become strong; without desire, there is no motivation to advance. Those who are content are merely mediocrity."
Muria's mouth twitched slightly; he had merely wanted to suggest that the Golden Dragon Mother take what they had and be content, but instead, she took the opportunity to scold him.
"Look," the Golden Dragon Mother pointed at the Wind King Eagle, "there are so many beings and things that I cannot comprehend, and if I had enough power, I could easily understand them all. Exploring the unknown is what drives me forward."
"Having enough power to explore the unknown is the prudent way; otherwise, it's just courting death." Muria thought silently. The titanic beasts could erase even the names of gods.
Slightly more satisfied than she had expected, the Golden Dragon Mother, contented, dragged Muria to wander between the cloud islands. She was very curious about the multitude of cloud islands gathered together, wondering whether they were naturally formed or the result of artificial influences.
"Little Muria, do these overlapping cloud islands not resemble an enlarged pine cone?" Above a hundred cloud islands, the Golden Dragon Mother looked down and suddenly voiced a bold idea to Muria beside her.
"A pine cone?" Muria was momentarily stunned, then looked closely at the layout below, which was centered around the cloud island where the Wind King Eagle resided. Despite the seemingly disorganized arrangement and the irregular shapes of the islands, they indeed resembled a pine cone somewhat.
"A bit, but the positions are too scattered, not as orderly as a pine cone," Muria responded, somewhat admiring the Golden Dragon Mother's imagination for being able to make such an analogy.
"The positions of the cloud islands can be moved and adjusted, and even if their shapes are different, they can still be modified."
"What are you thinking?" Muria looked at the Golden Dragon Mother in surprise.
"Don't you think these cloud islands are like the rough drafts of floating cities? With a little modification, they could become hundreds of floating cities," the excitement sparkled in the Golden Dragon Mother's eyes.
"Cloud islands can be transformed into floating cities?" Muria was astounded; he had never heard of such a possibility.
"Yes, this technology was developed by those idle folks in the Arcane Federation." A trace of scorn appeared on Atelis's face, "The initial research was intended to save resources in constructing floating cities, but once the construction began, it turned out that using cloud islands didn't save more resources than building floating cities from scratch."
"Why?" Muria was curious, as the greatest energy expenditure for floating cities was for levitation; saving on this should indeed conserve resources.
"Because the positions of the cloud islands are fixed; to build, you'd either need a legendary mage to move them, or transport materials directly to the islands for construction.
Moreover, cloud islands are rare, and each one is unique in shape, so each island-to-city conversion requires a new design plan, which cannot be reused.
This method can't be widely adopted or save much material, so for the Arcane Federation, it was a rather useless research, and they abandoned it soon after."
"Mother, are you saying you have the technical data to transform cloud islands into floating cities?" Muria's eyes sparkled as he asked, using a respectful tone without realizing it.
"I can't get the Arcane Federation's core technologies, but acquiring knowledge from such a discarded project is quite easy for me."
"Ah!" Just as Muria was about to shed some pride to ask for this technology, he remembered a crucial point, looking down at the cloud islands in contemplation, "These islands aren't mine, they have nothing to do with me."
"They all belong to that Wind King Eagle," the Golden Dragon Mother thought for a moment, then grandly waved her hand, "Beings of that level like to sleep, and they awaken very briefly. Once it enters deep sleep, the ownership of these islands is yours."
"But they are not truly mine," Muria shook his head.
"Why be so particular? Even if you transform all the cloud islands into floating cities, given the Wind King Eagle's magnanimity, as long as you don't disturb its nest, it likely won't care."
"Let me think about this."
"Alright, you now control the resources of an entire kingdom. If you don't take the opportunity to use these resources for your own benefit, you may not get another chance for a long time."
...
Within a desolate volcanic cavity, pungent sulfur
mixed with various toxic gases filled the air, and the fiery magma churned.
Suddenly, as if stimulated or attracted by something, the magma roiled like a spring, accompanied by an excited roar, and the volcano erupted.
With magma shooting into the sky, a massive and muscular demon emerged from the volcano's mouth, bathed in lava. The presence of a high-ranking demon spread as it appeared, causing the few low-level demons around to cower on the ground, shivering.
Soon, the erupting magma settled down—it was merely a wave of fire brought about by the powerful demon's awakening.
"The Abyssal Will calls to me!" Wrapped in flames, with skin a dark red hue, the Barloth Flame Demon roared excitedly. Hot flames formed a long whip in one hand, and a beheading sword appeared in the other.
"Material realm!" The powerful Barloth Flame Demon excitedly swung his sword, tearing through space, following the guidance of the Abyssal Will. As it crossed through layers of the Abyss, demonic energy continuously flowed into its body to replenish its strength.
"Weak creatures of the material realm, offer your souls to me." Eventually, the Barloth Flame Demon reached a layer of the Abyss about to be consumed and merged by the Erathia world. It easily broke through the spatial barrier that it should not have been able to breach and descended onto the Nockiao continent.
"Cackle, cackle, cackle!" Watching the animals fleeing beneath its feet and the plants starting to burn due to its presence, the Barloth Flame Demon laughed heartily in excitement.
But just as it reveled in its triumph, a hand enveloped in golden thunder tore through space, reaching for its head...
