Douluo Dalu: The Path of Abyss

Chapter 30: Gaining more attribute points

Ye Feng observed Dugu Bo's reaction carefully, noticing the subtle change in his demeanor. With a calm smile, he said, "Senior, there's no need to regard us with hostility. As I mentioned, we consumed two of your immortal herbs, but I will give you something in return that will more than satisfy you."

"A gift?"

Dugu Bo's expression turned inquisitive. He withdrew the soul power that had been surging around him and asked thoughtfully, "Do you mean you have a way to detoxify me?"

Ye Feng shook his head. "No."

"Then what nonsense are you talking about?" Dugu Bo snapped coldly.

Before Ye Feng could respond, Sword Douluo Chen Xin interjected, his voice sharp and confident. "Disciple, there's no need to waste time. He's merely a rank ninety-two Titled Douluo. If he insists on this attitude, let's settle it through a spar. Come, Dugu Bo, let's see what you're made of."

Dugu Bo sneered, stamping his foot as nine soul rings—two yellow, two purple, and five black—rose beneath him, signaling his readiness for battle.

The tension in the air thickened as Sword Douluo Chen Xin summoned his Seven Kill Sword martial spirit, its sharp aura pressing down on the surroundings.

Before the confrontation could escalate, Ye Feng dashed forward, placing himself between the two Titled Douluo. "Master, please don't act impulsively. Senior Dugu, there's no misunderstanding here. Please listen to me."

Ye Feng turned his attention to Dugu Bo and explained, "Senior, your title as Poison Douluo reflects your mastery of poison, but your martial spirit is a beast type, and its poison has fused with your body. Detoxifying you completely would essentially mean taking away your life force, wouldn't it?"

Dugu Bo hesitated, his stern expression softening into contemplation. He stroked his beard thoughtfully before asking, "Then what exactly do you propose?"

Ye Feng smiled and replied confidently, "The immortal herbs we consumed, the Star Anise Ice Grass and Fiery Apricot Jiaoshu, create a miniature version of the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire within the human body. I believe there are two ways to resolve your problem.

"First, you could consume these two herbs yourself and use your immense soul power to absorb their medicinal properties. However, doing so would purge your poison entirely, rendering your poison-based combat skills useless. Surely, that isn't an option you'd consider?"

Dugu Bo frowned and nodded. "Indeed. My poison is the foundation of my strength. Losing it would nullify decades of effort."

Ye Feng continued, "The second method, then, is a bit more complex but allows you to retain your poison. While your soul power suppresses the toxicity, the human body isn't naturally suited for harboring poison. The solution is to transfer your poison into a vessel that can safely contain it—your soul bones, an external spirit bone, or even your martial spirit itself. This way, your poison won't harm you and will remain at your disposal whenever needed."

Dugu Bo's eyes lit up with sudden understanding. "Are you saying I should force the poison into my soul bone to isolate it from my body?"

"Exactly," Ye Feng confirmed with a nod. "This method, however, takes time to perfect, unlike the first option."

Dugu Bo remained silent for a moment, his eyes scanning Ye Feng intently. He was impressed by the depth of insight coming from such a young child. Finally, he asked, "Did your master teach you this?"

Ye Feng smiled, shaking his head. "No, Master didn't. This knowledge was imparted by a beggar I once met—a peculiar man who called himself the Third Young Master of the Tang Family."

"The Third Young Master of the Tang Family?" Dugu Bo echoed, his face full of curiosity. "I've never heard of such a soul master. Are you certain he was a beggar?"

Ye Feng chuckled and replied, "Who knows? He stayed in my village for a while, and I gave him a steamed bun. In return, he told me many interesting things, including this."

Dugu Bo stroked his beard thoughtfully. "Perhaps he was a reclusive expert."

Ye Feng shrugged playfully, neither confirming nor denying the suggestion.

Dugu Bo's gaze softened as he looked at Ye Feng. "Little monster, you've given me a great favor today. Tell me, what reward do you desire?"

Ye Feng gestured to the medicinal garden and replied with a grin, "Senior, I've already benefited from the two herbs I took. That's enough for me."

Dugu Bo waved his hand dismissively. "Nonsense! You've saved my life. I, Dugu Bo, may be eccentric, but I am not ungrateful. Tell me what else you want."

After a moment's thought, Ye Feng glanced around the garden and smiled. "If you insist, may I collect a few herbs from this medicinal garden?"

Dugu Bo agreed readily, "Fine. Take whatever you need."

Minutes later, Dugu Bo regretted his generosity. Before him stood Ye Feng with more than a dozen rare immortal herbs piled before him, leaving only a few ordinary ones behind.

Dugu Bo's face twitched as he suppressed his pain, watching his precious collection dwindle.

Ye Feng noticed his expression and said cheerfully, "Senior, don't worry. The herbs you have left, especially the Star Anise Ice Grass and Fiery Apricot Jiaoshu, will benefit you greatly. Consuming them together while basking in the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire will enhance your physical strength, allow you to absorb higher-age soul rings, and grant you immunity to both ice and fire."

"Ice immunity? Fire immunity?" Dugu Bo's eyes widened in shock. His thoughts immediately went to his granddaughter, Dugu Yan. If what Ye Feng claimed was true, it would grant her immense advantages.

At that moment, Xiao Wu's voice echoed from nearby. "Ye Feng, aren't you going to continue your cultivation?"

Ye Feng froze momentarily, having forgotten Xiao Wu's presence.

Dugu Bo's sharp gaze turned to Xiao Wu, and his expression shifted drastically. "She... is a soul beast?"

Before Ye Feng could respond, the familiar system notification chimed in his mind.

"Ding! Congratulations! You have altered the storyline of Douluo Dalu. By advising Dugu Bo on how to manage his poison and claiming the immortal herbs before Tang San, you have earned 180 attribute points."
