Douluo Dalu: The Path of Abyss

Chapter 38: I want to report it, Ye Feng definitely did it on purpose

Zhao Wuji's height suddenly expanded to over five meters, his muscles swelling grotesquely until he transformed into an immense bear. His brown-yellow fur grew wildly, and as his body fully shifted, the fur gleamed a brilliant golden hue.

"Martial Soul True Body?"

Dai Mubai's face was filled with shock. Their practical teacher had actually unleashed his Martial Soul True Body.

Fourth Soul Skill: Positioning and Tracking

Once Zhao Wuji activated his Martial Soul True Body, he could use all soul skills below the seventh ring, excluding the True Body itself, for thirty minutes without restriction. During this state, his skill power increased by 150%, and his defense was enhanced by 200%. However, the cost was severe—his attributes would weaken by 50% after use, requiring seven days to recover.

Almost instantly, Zhao Wuji released his Fourth Soul Skill, not targeting Ye Feng but instead locking onto a tree 150 meters away. Clearly, his intention was not to fight but to escape.

Whoosh!

Zhao Wuji leaped into the air, pushing his immense body skyward with explosive force, attempting to avoid Ye Feng's attack.

Man and Sword Unity

Simultaneously, Ye Feng entered the state of Man and Sword Unity, merging with his Xuanyuan Sword. A brilliant slash fell from the heavens, striking Zhao Wuji before he could land.

Boom!

A domineering wave of sword energy erupted, spreading sharp gusts of wind throughout the area. Sand and stones flew chaotically, obscuring everything in a dense haze. When the dust settled, a deep sword-shaped groove marred the ground, while Zhao Wuji lay motionless where he had fallen, unconscious.

"Teacher Zhao!" Dai Mubai's voice was filled with panic as he rushed forward.

Leaping several times, Dai Mubai reached Zhao Wuji's side and anxiously checked his pulse. Finally, he exhaled in relief. Zhao Wuji was unconscious but otherwise unharmed, needing only rest to recover.

After his success, Ye Feng's body suddenly convulsed again. His limbs twitched uncontrollably, as though he were having another seizure.

When he regained consciousness, Xiao Wu hurried to his side, her voice laden with concern. "Senior brother, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Ye Feng replied weakly.

"Brother, what just happened? How were you so powerful?" Ning Rongrong asked curiously.

Ye Feng hesitated, unwilling to reveal the truth. Instead, he redirected the question to Ning Rongrong, who explained what had occurred. Pretending to be puzzled, Ye Feng feigned deep thought, claiming he couldn't understand it either.

"Could it be a latent soul in your body?" Tang San suddenly proposed.

"Latent soul?" Ye Feng asked with a frown.

"I've read about it in an ancient text," Tang San began. "It's said that when powerful individuals die, their souls sometimes linger in the bodies of others. That might explain what happened to you."

"Really?" Ye Feng acted surprised but marveled internally at Tang San's perceptiveness.

"Well, based on the situation, it seems this soul bears you no ill intent. You shouldn't worry about it being harmful," Tang San reassured him.

Night fell quietly over Shrek Academy, broken only by the occasional calls of nocturnal creatures. Ye Feng's display during the admission test had secured enrollment for him, Tang San, Ning Rongrong, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Zhuqing. However, Ye Feng's triumph, aided by the Soul Douluo Experience Card, deviated from the original story, robbing him of the system's rewards.

Just as Ye Feng prepared to rest, a voice suddenly called out from his window.

"Disciple, come out."

The voice did not belong to Haotian Douluo Tang Hao, as it did in the original plot, but to Sword Douluo Chen Xin.

Following the voice, Ye Feng arrived at the academy's small square, where Sword Douluo Chen Xin stood waiting.

"Grandpa Jian!"

To Ye Feng's surprise, Ning Rongrong was also present.

"Rongrong, still awake?" Chen Xin asked warmly.

"Grandpa Jian, you're so biased! Now that you've taken in a disciple, you've forgotten all about me," Ning Rongrong pouted, shooting Ye Feng a jealous glare.

"How could Grandpa Jian forget about you?" Chen Xin chuckled, affectionately patting Ning Rongrong's head.

"Then where are Grandpa Gu and Father?" Ning Rongrong asked, glancing around for Bone Douluo Gu Rong and Ning Fengzhi.

"This visit is about Ye Feng, so your father and Old Bones stayed behind," Chen Xin explained with a smile.

"Hmph! See? You didn't come to see me at all!" Ning Rongrong huffed, pouting as her gaze shifted back to Ye Feng, her jealousy evident.

"Rongrong is growing up and even learning how to be jealous," Chen Xin teased, shaking his head.

"Grandpa Jian, is there something urgent you need from Senior Brother?" Ning Rongrong asked curiously, puzzled by the late-hour meeting.

"If you're curious, come along," Chen Xin replied, summoning his Seven Kill Sword.

Ning Rongrong instinctively stepped forward, ready to ride Chen Xin's sword, but he stopped her with a gentle hand.

"Ye Feng can fly with his sword now. Go with him instead. It'll be good practice for him," Chen Xin suggested.

Both Ning Rongrong and Ye Feng froze momentarily, quickly realizing Chen Xin's subtle matchmaking attempt.

"Grandpa Jian, you've grown stingy!" Ning Rongrong protested, her cheeks flushing as she turned to Ye Feng. "Senior brother, I'll have to trouble you."

"It's no trouble at all," Ye Feng replied with a smile.

Summoning his Xuanyuan Sword, Ye Feng gestured for Ning Rongrong to step onto the three-foot blade.

"Junior sister, would you prefer to stand in front or behind?"

"Behind," Ning Rongrong answered softly, her face reddening.

As Ye Feng took the front, leaving ample space for Ning Rongrong, she stepped onto the sword nervously.

"Ah!" Ning Rongrong yelped as the sword rose into the air, the sudden motion throwing her off balance. She instinctively clung to Ye Feng's waist, their proximity resembling an intimate embrace.
