Chapter 9: My name is Xiaowu
"Can you tell me why?" Yu Xiaogang asked curiously.
"Because I already have a teacher," Ye Feng replied calmly.
"You already have a teacher?" Yu Xiaogang repeated, visibly surprised.
"Ye Feng, when did you take someone as your master? How come I didn't know about this?" Tang San asked, his tone laced with curiosity.
"When I awakened my martial spirit," Ye Feng answered truthfully.
"When you awakened your martial spirit?" Tang San paused to think for a moment before exclaiming, "Ye Feng, you didn't take Su Yuntao as your master, did you?"
"Su Yuntao?" Yu Xiaogang's expression shifted, his brows furrowing slightly.
"What's wrong? Do I need someone else's permission to take a master?" Ye Feng countered, his tone carrying a hint of impatience as he looked at Tang San and Yu Xiaogang.
"Becoming a disciple requires only mutual consent between teacher and student," Yu Xiaogang said with a sigh, his gaze softening as he looked at Ye Feng with regret. "However, a soul master can only acknowledge one master in their lifetime. What a pity… such a promising talent."
Yu Xiaogang knew that Su Yuntao's first soul ring was merely a white, ten-year soul ring, marking him as an unremarkable and mediocre spirit master. In his eyes, Ye Feng's choice seemed like a waste of potential.
What Yu Xiaogang didn't know was that Ye Feng's master wasn't Su Yuntao but instead Sword Douluo Chen Xin, the powerful guardian of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. A Titled Douluo whose strength and reputation rivaled even the Spirit Hall's Pope.
Following Yu Xiaogang, Ye Feng and Tang San proceeded to the Academic Affairs Office, where they received their academy uniforms. Tang San officially became Yu Xiaogang's disciple, an event that attracted both ridicule and surprise from the teachers present. Meanwhile, the teachers couldn't help but sigh in awe upon learning that Ye Feng possessed innate full soul power at level 20 and Tang San at level 10.
Afterward, the pair followed directions to Dormitory No. 7, the living quarters for working students.
"Ye Feng, I don't know why, but it feels like you've changed," Tang San said as they walked. His tone was probing, as though trying to uncover something.
"Changed? How so?" Ye Feng asked lightly.
"Back at the gate, I didn't even realize that bribing the guard was an option, but you knew it instinctively. You seem much more experienced than me," Tang San said, tilting his head to observe Ye Feng closely.
Ye Feng laughed. "It's nothing. You'd know it too if you'd heard enough stories."
Tang San's mind churned. As someone who had reincarnated with the knowledge of a previous life, he was naturally wary of others who seemed out of the ordinary. Ye Feng's sudden maturity and strategic thinking made Tang San suspect that Ye Feng might also be a transmigrator like himself.
Tang San knew that he possessed twin martial spirits and that his innate soul power reached level 10 upon awakening. Ye Feng, on the other hand, had seemingly done no training yet awakened with level 20 soul power. This discrepancy planted a seed of doubt in Tang San's mind.
The door to Dormitory No. 7 was ajar, leaving a small gap.
"Finally, we're here!" Ye Feng thought to himself, excitement flickering in his eyes. He knew what awaited him inside—a reward for subverting another storyline.
Tang San reached out to push the door open, but Ye Feng quickly stepped forward and swung it wide open instead.
Whoosh!
A fist shot through the air, aimed straight at Ye Feng. Prepared for this, Ye Feng caught the attacker's fist effortlessly.
The assailant tried to pull back but found his hand locked in an iron grip. Frustrated, he swung his other fist in a hook, only for Ye Feng to intercept it with equal ease. In desperation, the attacker lifted his leg for a vicious kick aimed at Ye Feng's groin.
"So ruthless?" Ye Feng raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.
With a subtle shift of his knees, Ye Feng blocked the kick. The attacker's foot struck Ye Feng's knee instead, producing a dull thud.
"Ahhh!" The attacker cried out in pain, his face contorting as he stumbled backward, clutching his leg.
Using a subtle burst of force, Ye Feng released the attacker, sending him tumbling to the floor. The ease of his movements left everyone in the room stunned.
Since awakening his martial spirits, Ye Feng's physical capabilities had undergone a significant transformation. Though he had yet to obtain a soul ring, the benefits of his triple martial spirits, combined with the attribute points he had allocated to strength earlier, made him far stronger than ordinary students like Wang Sheng.
"It hurts!" the attacker groaned, still writhing on the floor. "It's like kicking a rock!"
"Who are you, and why did you attack Ye Feng?" Tang San asked coldly, his eyes narrowing.
"My name is Wang Sheng. My martial spirit is the Battle Tiger, and I aspire to become a Battle Soul Master. I'm the boss of this dormitory," the boy introduced himself. "Thank you for showing mercy. According to the dorm's rules, since you defeated me, you're the new boss of Dormitory No. 7."
The other six students in the room immediately lined up, bowing respectfully. "Boss!"
Ye Feng chuckled at their enthusiastic declaration. "Boss, huh? I'll accept the title."
As Ye Feng surveyed the room, he noticed that only eleven of the fifty beds were occupied. "Are all of you working students too?" he asked Wang Sheng.
"Yes," Wang Sheng replied before turning to Tang San. "You're a new working student too, right? According to the rules, you need to fight the boss to determine who takes the title."
"Me?" Tang San smiled faintly and shook his head. "Forget it. I'm just here to study."
"The rules are the rules," Wang Sheng insisted firmly. "You can't skip this."
Tang San sighed, realizing that everyone in the room shared Wang Sheng's determination. Not wanting unnecessary trouble, he glanced at Ye Feng and smirked. "My innate full soul power is level 10. Ye Feng's is level 20. Do you really think I stand a chance?"
"What?!"
The entire room erupted in shock. The revelation that Tang San and Ye Feng both had innate full soul power—and that Ye Feng's was level 20—left the students staring at them as if they were mythical creatures.
At that moment, a sweet, melodious voice came from the doorway. "Excuse me, is this Dormitory No. 7?"
