Chapter 46: Chapter 45: A desolate environment
After leaving Yuki Rito's house, Light, watching from afar, felt a pang of curiosity about how Momo was doing... and that he still wanted to be able to talk to her more about what had happened.
However, there was also a mixture of disbelief. As they moved away from the city, towards a more desolate and isolated region, he pondered the logic of such a move.
After succeeding in killing Yuki Rito and acquiring all his points, Light received a notice that he should leave the city and go to a desolate environment where there would be a common meeting.
"Do they really think luring me to a place like this is a good idea? If I had dark intentions, their decision could turn out to be their biggest mistake," he thought.
In the midst of the almost tumbling silence of the place, Xenovia's strong voice cut through the air: "I know you're watching us. Come out of the shadows and show yourself!"
She stopped abruptly after an exhausting run of several kilometers, her eyes fixed on the empty horizon, issuing her challenge.

Suddenly, a notification appeared before Light's eyes, presenting an intriguing mission. It seemed that he was being challenged to shake the unshakeable faith of these two young women. While pondering the task, he chose to reveal himself.
"Oh?" With an almost amused expression, Light appeared in the sky, floating with a pair of wings that glowed brightly. Curiously, they didn't look like the typical wings of demons or angels. They were unique, radiating a majestic aura somewhat reminiscent of that of the renowned Phoenex Clan, but his were bathed in light.
With keen perception, Light reflected internally:
{It's clear, Xenovia and Irina tried to lure me in. But how could they detect my presence, even when I was skillfully hidden under a veil of invisibility? Besides, I had skillfully masked my aura. It's disturbing, really. I never imagined that both of them had such sensitivity... apparently killing Yuki wasn't such a big deal}.
Hearing Light's inner whisper again, Irina's eyes lit up, radiating a starry glow. She tried to say, 'Why can I hear your deepest thoughts?' But to her surprise, no words formed, just a suffocating silence.
She felt confused and frustrated, wanting to say, 'Why does your voice echo in my mind and why can't I talk about it?
Memories of Issei Hyoudou, her dear childhood friend, surfaced in her mind. She remembered a similar episode in which she had felt similarly trapped, unable to mention the heartfelt voice she had heard.
Sensing Irina's discomfort, Light asked, turning to Xenovia: "Is something wrong with your friend?"
Xenovia cast a brief, worried glance at Irina before answering, her voice softened by concern: "I think she's fine. Don't worry too much." Her gaze then turned sharp and demanding. "Why were you watching us? And why did you follow us?"
Trying to intervene, Irina let slip: "Exactly, what do you want, L...?" But, to her surprise, Light's name stuck in her throat, unspeakable.
She tried again, but something prevented the words from escaping, as if a mysterious enigma silenced any attempt to pronounce his name.
With an exasperated tone and a touch of naive charm in her voice, Irina exclaimed: "Oh, this is so frustrating!" She finally managed to articulate a complete sentence. Even though she was irritated, there was an innate charm in her gestures, which inadvertently seemed seductive.
Gracefully, she removed the cloak that wrapped around her body, revealing her slender, defined figure. Defiantly, she asked: "Did you come after us looking for a confrontation?"
As she moved, the light accentuated the curves of her body. Her meticulously detailed features indicated measurements of B87-W59-H89 cm and a height of 164 cm. Her deep violet eyes contrasted with her long brown hair, which swayed in double braids held back by blue bands.
{Look at her! Jesus Christ... she's undeniably stunning. But by acting like this, she's only attracting attention. Irina Shidou is undoubtedly a sight to behold, but she seems to have a rather unpredictable personality and a few screws loose, doesn't she?}
Irina gave him an indignant look, pouting her lips. Even though she wanted to respond to the insinuation she felt coming from him, she found herself strangely restrained, as if an invisible force was controlling her words. Silently, she protested internally: 'What does this insensitive man mean by "screws loose"? My mind is perfectly balanced, thank you!'
Xenovia, observing the scene, burst into contagious laughter. Irina's astonished expression was simply irresistible to her. However, on receiving a disapproving look from her friend, Xenovia only intensified her laughter.
{That Xenovia... She doesn't seem to have all the screws in place either. I remember that time when she discovered certain truths about the third war. She was so disoriented that she ended up being transformed into a Reincarnated Demon. And then, curiously, she expressed her desire to have a child with Issei Hyoudou, claiming that she sought children with the powerful aura of a dragon...}
With a wry laugh, it was now Irina's turn to enjoy the scene. However, her eyes turned serious in a split second, focusing on Xenovia. She had already heard rumors about Xenovia's unwavering loyalty to the church.
But the prospect of her friend betraying that loyalty to become a Reincarnated Demon in the future? And what was this 'truth' mentioned by Light that could shake the foundations of Xenovia's faith?
Lost in her thoughts, Xenovia felt a weight on her mind, as if she wanted to ask something, but an invisible force stopped her.
Suddenly, Light broke the tense silence, "Why were you at Issei Hyoudou's house?"
Before he knew it, Light was knocked down, stunned, his gaze alternating between Xenovia's resolute face and Irina's curious behavior.
Irina defensively replied: "He's an old friend of mine. What's wrong with visiting him?" It was clear that if her questions weren't answered, she saw no point in being polite to Light.
For his part, Light maintained an impassive attitude. His eyes narrowed, exuding a sharp, cold determination. A powerful aura radiated from him, clearly setting him apart from the other Demons, revealing a strength that seemed to defy comprehension.
