"Attack!"
"Damn it! You've got the wrong person!"
"Wrong person? I'm killing all you Guild lapdogs!"
As the battle raged in the industrial district, the dark faction members realized something was amiss. Many of their comrades had been killed by their own side.
Initially, they dismissed it as a mistake, zealots blinded by rage accidentally striking their allies. But as the casualties mounted, they realized something else was at play.
Their gazes turned towards Mellie, who stood outside the fray, observing the battle with a smile.
"The Floral Illusionist of the Yahweh Familia…Could it be her illusions?"
"Are our comrades under her control?" Although few knew the true nature of Mellie's abilities, her title, combined with the unusual events on the battlefield, provided a clear answer.
Mellie, who had been ignored until now, became their target.
"Ugh, I knew it," she muttered, shaking her head. "This is why I hate this title! I could be manipulating them from the shadows, but instead, I'm forced into the spotlight."
Though pleasant-sounding, her title was too conspicuous.
But the Gods of Orario, capricious as they were, didn't care if their chosen titles caused their wielders any distress.
In fact, the more troublesome, the better.
As the enemy charged toward her, Mellie made no attempt to hide.
Her staff glowed brightly as several dark faction members, previously under her control and hidden within the enemy ranks, stepped forward to intercept the attack.
"Damn it! She's controlled so many of us without us even realizing!" The Leader of the dark faction raiding party roared, summoning more of his forces to attack Mellie.
He and two elite members broke through the defenses and charged towards her.
"Die, arrogant mage!" he shouted.
To him, Mellie's actions were a sign of arrogance.
Mages were supposed to stay behind their comrades, providing support with their magic.
Close combat was their weakness. Without protection, they were easy targets.
Mellie, standing alone and casting her magic, seemed to be mocking both their strength and their intelligence. It was a grave insult.
"Arrogant, you say? Is that how you see me?" A smirk touched Mellie's lips as she heard his words.
"I don't agree with your assessment."
As the three reached her, she swung her staff, striking the leader and sending him crashing to the ground.
She then swiftly dodged the other two's attacks, striking them as well.
Although Mellie's strength stat had never exceeded the limit, she trained it to its peak at every level. She was physically stronger than even dwarves of the same level.
Therefore, a single blow from her staff was enough to incapacitate the Level 3 leader and his two Level 2 companions.
Unlike the sharp wounds inflicted by blades, blunt force trauma was far more debilitating.
Struck in vital areas, the three lay writhing in agony, their deaths inevitable.
"Don't compare me to those frail mages."
"My staff isn't just for show." She twirled her staff playfully.
The remaining dark faction members, seeing the three leaders fall so easily, hesitated.
Mellie's strength was clearly beyond their expectations.
"What's wrong? Afraid?"
"If you don't attack, I'll have no qualms about unleashing my full power." She raised her staff menacingly.
With Mellie no longer holding back, her magic and illusions spread throughout the battlefield, bringing more and more of the enemy under her control.
The tide of the battle turned.
"Hmph. Such an easy task." Shaking her head, Mellie began searching for Mika and Airmid.
She found Airmid wielding her spear, effortlessly cutting through the enemy ranks. With her Level 4 strength and endurance pushed to their limits, she was unmatched on the battlefield.
"But where's Mika?" Mellie couldn't find him.
"I thought he was chasing someone. Hasn't he returned yet?" She frowned, just as a loud crash echoed from a distant alley, followed by the sounds of collapsing buildings and billowing smoke.
"What was that?" Before she could react, another crash reverberated through the air, followed by a burst of flames that shot into the sky.
"That's…Mika!" she exclaimed, recognizing the familiar flames. "He's found an opponent!"

"Clang!" A flaming sword clashed against a greatsword, sending sparks flying.
"He's fast!" Mika exclaimed in surprise.
Just as he was about to strike Zald, he had countered, pulling back his greatsword and blocking the attack.
"Surprised?" Zald asked, a predatory grin spreading across his face.
"I'm the one who should be surprised! I saw you change your attack's trajectory before I even moved. If I hadn't reacted quickly, you would have struck me."
Ignoring the sparks flying from their clashing blades, Zald pressed forward, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
"Did you anticipate my attack? How?"
He swung his left arm at Mika, who swiftly dodged.
Thus began their rapid exchange. Zald attacked, Mika defended.
Zald's eyes lit up as he witnessed Mika's flawless defense.
"I see…"
...
...
"I understand now," Zald said after a few more exchanges, a smirk touching his lips. "You're observing my movements and predicting my attacks."
"You must have some kind of Enhanced Vision Ability." In just a few moves, he had seen through Mika's [Transparent World].
This put Mika at a disadvantage.
But he wasn't concerned.
"You talk too much!" He parried Zald's attack with his spear, effortlessly deflecting the force into the ground. The impact created a crater beneath his feet.
Through the gap between their blades, Mika's gaze locked onto Zald.
He shifted his weight, slipping past Zald's defenses and slashing at his shoulder.
Zald reacted quickly, dodging the attack, but a shallow cut remained.
"Haven't you heard? Villains die because they talk too much," Mika taunted.
Although he had been on the defensive, it didn't mean he couldn't attack. In terms of pure swordsmanship, Mika was superior.
However, Zald possessed greater physical strength. Mika had been adapting to his attacks, learning his patterns.
As the saying went, "Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated."
Once he fully understood Zald's style, he could seize the advantage.
This was the only way to overcome their difference in strength.
However, he hadn't fully grasped Zald's swordsmanship yet.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have merely grazed his shoulder after waiting so long for an opening.
"Interesting. Very interesting." Despite the cut on his shoulder, Zald grinned. It had been a long time since anyone had managed to wound him.
He had expected Ottar, to be the first, but Mika had beaten him to it.
This excited him.
"So you predict my attacks by observing my movements? Then can you still see them?" Zald suppressed his aura, and Mika's Transparent World faltered.
"As expected." Mika's expression turned serious.
Someone like Zald, a battle-hardened veteran who stood at the pinnacle of human strength, had long since reached the level where he could neutralize Transparent World. He simply hadn't needed to until now.
"It seems the real battle begins now." A smile touched Mika's lips; his fighting spirit surged.
"Argh!" He unleashed a burst of flames from his back, propelling himself forward at incredible speed, a blur of motion too fast for the naked eye to follow.
Zald grinned, raising his greatsword to meet Mika's charge.
"Clang!" He effortlessly parried the attack, the flames scattering harmlessly to the sides.
"Clang!" Now at full speed, Mika relentlessly attacked, his flaming sword a blur.
Although Zald's swordsmanship was impressive, to Mika, whose skills had reached the Godly Domain, his movements were still predictable.
He targeted Zald's weaknesses.
Forced onto the defensive, Zald struggled to maintain his composure under Mika's relentless assault.
"Slash!" Mika's blade grazed Zald's shoulder once more, this time inflicting a deeper wound.
The flames cauterized the flesh instantly, the smell of burning flesh filling the air.
However, Zald showed no reaction, a smile still plastered on his face, as if the injury was inconsequential.
But this was just the beginning. As Mika's excitement grew, so did his power. Zald's wounds multiplied rapidly.
"Clang!" A final, powerful clash sent them both stumbling backward.
They stared at each other, breathing heavily. They had both pushed themselves to their limits.
The brief respite allowed their bodies a moment to recover.
The surrounding buildings had been reduced to rubble by the force of their battle.
"Exhilarating! Truly exhilarating!" Zald laughed, despite his numerous wounds.
But Mika's smile had vanished. He was replaying their exchange in his mind.
Zald's weaknesses were disappearing.
Normally, when faced with Mika's relentless assault, a defensive fighter would instinctively try to compensate for their weaknesses, inadvertently revealing new ones.
But Zald was different!
As he corrected his flaws, he exposed fewer and fewer openings.
By the end of their exchange, there were none. His swordsmanship was rapidly evolving.
He had already reached the pinnacle of human skill, but now, under Mika's pressure, he was transcending even that.
"Damn it!" Mika couldn't help but think of Alfia.
She, too, had begun her ascent towards the Godly Domain after witnessing his swordsmanship.
However, she had achieved it far more easily than Zald.
