Even If I’m Reborn as a Cute Dragon Girl, I Will Still Make a Harem

Book 5: Chapter 212: Bait of Bait

“That’s…” Three looked at the scene a short distance away with annoyance.

Before her was a massive monstrous fish with a dark body, its scales shimmering with a cold light. It had a hard exoskeleton for a head and was large enough to swallow a cruise ship in a single bite. The creature was shaking its head and tearing at something.

The sight of its hideous teeth made even Three shudder.

When the fish monster finally realized that it had been futilely tearing its prey for what felt like half a day, it spat out the stupid-looking catfish with an angry expression that seemed almost human.

The catfish shook its head, then resumed swimming as if nothing had happened, circling at the same spot.

That was when Three noticed a thin line, almost invisible to the naked eye, connecting the catfish’s tail to the strange fish’s head.

“A bait?” Just like an anglerfish, it was tempting its prey with the bait connected to its head, preparing to ambush and swallow its prey whole.

Three’s expression darkened. She had been completely oblivious to the fact that the catfish was bait and had failed to recognize the presence of the fish monster. If it hadn’t been for her intuition, she might have walked right into the trap of this fish monster, which was only at the middle stage of Saint Realm.

Then again…

“Strange… why didn’t my perception kick in?”

Three felt puzzled. Although only her divine sense had descended upon this place, the soul power she possessed by this divine sense was certainly at the peak of the limits of this world—right at the demigod level.

She doubted anything beneath a demigod in this world could sneak up on her, much less being nearly swallowed whole by a strange fish of middle-stage Saint Realm.

If Four found out about what happened, he would surely make fun of her for at least a century.

Nevertheless, she couldn’t deny the fact that she hadn’t sensed the aura of the fish monster. Even now, her perception didn’t register it as a living thing.

“Interesting.” As she watched the monster prepare for its next attack, a look of pity crossed Three’s face. “It’s a shame there isn’t enough time to dissect you properly and figure out what’s going on.”

The fish monster hissed silently, revealing hideous fangs taller than a man. Invisible energy fluctuations rippled out from its body, and as they passed through the lake, they transformed into waves that swept across the water.

The waves surged toward Three, and in an instant, she felt breathless. The water around her seemed to have been pressurized hundreds of times, relentlessly squeezing her rather weak physical body.

Fortunately, Erica had taken Lilith and made a quick escape at the first opportunity; otherwise, her small frame would have been crushed by a wave from the monstrous fish.

“A beast using a domain, huh?” Shimmering light flickered to life, slowly pushing back the water pressure that could crush even steel. This wasn’t the first time the strange beast had surprised Three. Not only was it able to completely conceal its aura, but it could also conjure a domain. It was certainly no ordinary mid-stage sain-level beast.

Yet, for all the surprise, Three felt no trace of compassion or sympathy. In light of her mission, everything else was unimportant. So, Three raised her hand, aiming her palm at the strange fish.

“I’m done wasting time,” she said.

Half of the thirty minutes had elapsed, and she had no idea how much longer Four could run from the baby deity. If she dragged this out any longer, she would be the one in dire straits.

“A beast is just a beast; it’s not worthy of me using the blade reserved for dealing with dragons.”

She looked indifferently at the charging monstrosity and flicked her wrists before slowly clenching her palm. “Abyssal Sea.” As Three murmured the words, endless darkness surged from behind her.

The black substance, resembling sludge, quickly spread through the lake water, enveloping the surrounding hundred meters in an instant, continuously eroding the strange fish’s domain.

A flicker of fear appeared in the fish’s eyes. It finally recognized the terrifying nature of the being before it and understood that it had bitten off more than it could chew. With a powerful swing of its tail, it turned its body around and chose to escape without hesitation.

Unfortunately, it was already too late. The black silt-like substance spread rapidly, completely blocking the strange fish’s escape route. The creature slammed its body into the black sludge and immediately let out a silent hiss as it struggled to retreat.

The areas it touched were corroded, leaving gaping wounds that released wisps of white smoke into the water. Its metal-like scales offered no protection; instead, they seemed to fuel a misguided confidence. Before Three could strike, the fish was already seriously injured.

“Black Blade,” Three called softly once more.

The black sludge at her side surged and boiled. Countless grotesque bubbles gurgled and rolled within it. Gradually, the sludge coalesced under Three’s command, transforming into a pitch-black blade.

While the blade wasn’t as large as the one she used earlier, Three wielded it with remarkable ease.

“Black Cage.”

The surrounding black sludge suddenly condensed.

Sensing its impending doom, the strange fish thrashed frantically, trying to expand its domain, which had already been compressed to a pitiful state. It wrapped itself in the remaining lake water, fighting for survival.

Three had no intention of using the Abyssal Sea to directly crush the fish into mush and devour it; that would require too much effort for her at the moment. She aimed simply to trap the monstrous fish in a cage from which there was no escape.

After all, they were in the middle of the lake. Chasing a saint-level fish in the water, its home turf, with her current physical body would be foolish.

Three moved toward the monster, her speed slow, almost equivalent to that of an average person swimming.

Realizing it needed to deal with the human before it could escape the black sludge, the fish monster abandoned its futile attempt to free itself. Instead, it opened its massive mouth and charged straight at Three.

Three remained calm as she moved through the water. Just as the monster fish was about to bite her, the black sludge around her body suddenly vibrated.

The strange fish was momentarily distracted, and in that split second, it missed its mark entirely.

Three swam toward the only vulnerable part of the monster fish and violently stabbed its exposed belly with the black blade in her hand, plunging it deep into its flesh.

The strange fish writhed in pain and began struggling, but the black knife sliced deeper into its abdomen. The more it struggled, the faster the blade cut through its flesh.

Finally, the blade cleaved through the fish’s abdomen, spilling a torrent of fishy blood and unrecognizable internal organs into the water.

The creature’s struggles gradually weakened until they ceased entirely.

With that, Three easily dispatched the middle-stage saint-level fish monster on its home turf, where it could actually exhibit the strength that matched that of a late-stage saint-level expert.

The black blade reverted back into sludge, merging into the Abyssal Sea, which also slowly faded until it vanished completely.

“Those two little girls shouldn’t have gotten far yet.” Having pinpointed their direction with his Absolute Intuition, Three prepared to pursue them. However, a flutter of unease gripped her heart.

Something felt wrong—very wrong.

Her Absolute Intuition suddenly surged with alarm, but as Three scanned her surroundings, she saw nothing but the strange fish floating belly-up, shrouded in diluted blood. Not even a single stalk of water plant was in sight.

Disturbed and anxious, Three swung her palm, creating a water current to push away the fish carcass that was an eyesore.

As the strange fish rolled along with the current, Three’s gaze landed on a tiny thread trailing from its tail, extending deep into the darkness.

Her eyelid twitched wildly. That thread felt disturbingly familiar; she had seen it on another fish just two minutes ago.
