Chapter 314: The Maid's Stature! The Oldest Human King!
"DO… YOU…. GET… THAT?"
Hearing her tone, Lila shivered for a second before she realized that there had been some kind of misunderstanding between them. She took a deep breath to calm herself and started speaking through clenched teeth.
"Ahem! Ma'am, you are misunderstanding… I am not looking to get closer to Mr. Mage. It's just that he is the only one I can stand to be close to in the whole party, but since my kingdom is paying me handsomely to be in the party, I have to bear the rest as well."

At first, Evelyn was skeptical, but seeing that she did not seem to be lying, she let it go and removed her gaze from her.
"Sigh~ you can go now and make sure to be careful in the future." Hearing her words, Lila nodded frantically, not wanting to annoy the woman.
"Ummm, can I ask who you are, miss?" taking a deep breath, she finally gathered the courage to speak her mind up while at the same time ready to run away from the place. Even though she did not like to meddle in others' business, this was the first time she met someone as 'powerful' as Evelyn.
Hearing the question of the little girl, the woman did not reply. Instead, she turned around and started walking in the direction of the world tree.
Lila got confused and thought she did not want to answer the question. As she was about to turn to leave, she saw something that shook her to the core. The mysterious woman walked through the tree as if there was nothing in front of her and merged with it.
It took her a few minutes to snap out of her daze and realize what had just happened. She looked at the tree for the one last time, realizing the identity of the woman, and merged herself with the darkness to disappear from the area.
*Woosh!*
As she was walking in the direction of the castle, the mage had already entered the main hall. Unlike what he expected, the hall was empty, and there was no one in the throne room besides Aanna, the same elf maid who guided him the first day he entered the area.
"Welcome master mage, his majesty is waiting for you and asked me to guide you to him." She bowed to him politely as a greeting. He also nodded in return and followed after her as they made their way through the hallway.
As they continued walking, the mage realized that their surroundings were getting awfully quiet, and there were not many guards stationed in the area as well. Although things looked suspicious, he was not that worried about his safety; maybe it was his confidence in his power.
Soon they arrived in front of a simple-looking grand door, but to the mage, it looked different; he could see many seals and inscriptions placed on it. For most of them, it was a room that was used to discuss something secretive.
*Knock* *Knock*
*Clank!*
Standing in front of the door, Aanna knocked on it twice before it opened on its own. Seeing the door open, she turned around and looked at the mage.
"This is as far as I can go." Saying that, she moved to the side, giving him the space to walk inside.
"You must be really special." Instead of walking inside the room, he looked at the maid, making a comment that made her confused, but the words he left before walking inside froze her in the spot. "To think that the king of the elves trusts a maid to bring me to a room where not even guards are allowed."
He did not care to look at her reaction anymore and directly walked inside the dimly lit room.
As soon as he entered the room, the door behind him was closed shut, but that was not enough to make the mage worried. Instead, his attention was directly caught by the thing that was placed in the middle of the room.
It was a huge mirror, double the size of a human being. He was not surprised by the mirror, as he knew what it was.
'The communication mirror.'
The most exquisite way for extremely rich people to talk face-to-face across the continent.
"You have arrived," Nhalos, who was standing in front of the mirror, turned around to look at the mage. "He is waiting for you."
With that, he turned around to look at the same thing that confused the mage. On the mirror, an image of a person was being displayed. It was an old man with long white hair and beard, seated while leaning forward in the chair. His eyes seemed to be closed, but looking closely, one might notice a small slit open in his limpid eyes.
The mage was confused to see that the man who was looking for him was not the king of the elves but the human king, Aron Stormcrown, the oldest human king in the history of the Aetheria world. As for the oldest king, it was naturally Nhalos because of his high elf lineage he could live for another couple of hundred years without a problem.
"Ah! You have arrived, my child," hearing Nhalos's words, the mage's ears seemed to have perked up as he looked up to take a look at the mage. "We were just chatting about you."
With a warm grandfatherly tone, he called out to the mage. But what he did not know was that the masked man in front of him could be said to be his grandfather in terms of age.
"Is there some kind of problem?" Nodding at the two kings, he asked calmly. The two of them did not seem to mind the lack of flattery in his words, as based on the power structure of the world, the man in front of them was almost close to them in terms of power or so they kept on thinking.
In their world, the power system was not that deep or elaborate. All the classes start with the lower and upper Novice/beginners stages which are classified as Tier 1 and Tier 2, then followed by apprentice, adept, master, and grandmaster (Tier 9 and Tier 10). Every single one of them had lower and upper stages.
Nhalos and Aron, just like most of the other kings, were upper-level master Mages. They thought that the boy was almost at the same level as them in terms of strength. The mage also did not bother to correct them.
