Chapter 2: Noticing System Changes
He spent some time there, waiting for his clothes to dry.
When he got up, he looked at his reflection in the puddle of water, a face completely different from his own. Although it had been a while since he had looked in a mirror, Su Login was sure he didn't look so young.
Earlier, one of the bullies who had bullied him had called him 'Su Login' and treated him as if he knew him.
All he had to do was put the pieces together: it was a reincarnation.
Su Login had read about reincarnations in his old world, he knew that there were heroes from a different world who were reborn with extraordinary talents, but that didn't seem to be the case.
He was at Level 1 once again, just when he had come so close to breaking his limits and reaching Level 1,000.
But thinking too much about these things isn't going to help me right now, I need to know more about this world. Considering the way those three treated me earlier, I'm in a low position in the hierarchy.
After so long traveling in his original world, Su Login had gained a lot of experience and developed an ironclad mind; even a sudden reincarnation wouldn't shake him for long.
There was nothing to do, he could only move on.
I still have the System, which means I can still Level up. I need to evolve soon to be able to use Analysis, only then will I have the confidence to subdue my enemies.
He was still thinking about those three young men. They had humiliated him in a way that he couldn't just forget. When the chance arose, he would take revenge on them.
***
Su Login's clothes were still damp when he left the place with the puddle of water.
At that moment, his mind was already getting used to his new identity. He was Su Login, and if he was used to that name, he would react naturally when he was called, so as not to attract suspicion.
With a sigh, he looked around.
The place Su Login was in was a plain.
The ground he walked on was completely covered in green grasses. On the horizon, he could see distant mountain ranges of various shapes.
As he passed a large lake nearby, he saw his reflection again. In that water, his figure was clearer.
He looked like a 14 or 15 year old, with medium black hair tied up in a ponytail with a white ribbon. But what struck him most were his sky-blue eyes.
He saw other young people walking around, but decided not to approach them. He wanted to raise his level before making contact with other people, so he could avoid conflicts he couldn't win.
Even though he was arrogant, Su Login recognized his limits, but instead of grumbling about his weakness, he sought to evolve to become invincible.
As he walked around the lake where he saw his reflection, he noticed that there was a temple-like building nearby. He didn't dare approach it and headed towards a cluster of trees nearby.
The lake was long and to get to the other side, someone had to go through the forest, unless someone decided to swim, which could be dangerous, as someone didn't know how deep it was or what kind of animals there might be in the water.
He saw some older people coming out of that place, it looked like a forest for hunting, as two young men were carrying the body of some monster on their backs.
If there are monsters here, like in my world, it's a quick way to Level up. I'm weak and I don't have any weapons, but my techniques and experience in combat should suppress that.
With that thought, he headed towards the forest. He was cautious, after all, he didn't know how strong the monsters in that world could be.
[The Daily Prize can be collected.]
That familiar voice came once again. It was a reminder that repeated itself every three hours.
He didn't pay any attention to the Daily Login System because he had received the prize earlier, when he was still in the Demon King's General's cave, yet he forgot that this was his first day in that other world.
Collect.
The Daily Prizes received in the Daily Login System were random, but their quality improved according to the Player's Level and location.
[Congratulations, you have received 'Common Lucky Charm'].
There was a description next to the congratulations message.
[Common Lucky Charm: Temporarily increases the cultivator's luck, the duration of the item will depend on the cultivation level].
It was a common item, but he had never received a charm like it before, although a few similar ones had passed through his hand. There was also the word 'cultivation' on it, something that made Su Login frown.
He needed to get to know that world better, but for the moment, that amulet would be useful.
As well as wearing it, Players had two more options: sell the item or turn it into XP. Wearing the amulet wouldn't make him stronger and he didn't know if the gold obtained would be useful in that world, so he was left with only the last option.
[The 'Common Lucky Charm' has been successfully consumed. Congratulations, the Player has received 30 XP.]
[Congratulations on reaching Level 2!]
That was a lot of XP for a Common Prize, I even managed to Level up.
If I'd been lucky enough to pick up a Rare or Legendary item, I'd have reached at least Level 5 in no time, but consuming objects in this way would only have an effect up to Level 15, after which the XP gain wouldn't be worth it.
Leveling up also had another advantage: earning Points. Points were used to increase the Player's Stats. Each Level gave the Player a total of 5 Points.
Su Login opened the Status screen and was surprised to see that it had changed.
Apparently, his System had been affected by the reincarnation.
------------------------------------------
[Su Login, 14 Years Old]
[Level: 2]
[XP: 0 / 50]
[Qi: 0 / 2,500]
[Race: Human | Cultivation: Celestial]
[Realm: Unavailable]
[Strength: 1 | Defense: 1]
[Agility: 1 | Qi Gain: 1]
[Intelligence: 1 | Technique: 1]
------------------------------------------
He should have checked his Status earlier, but there wasn't much he could do if he didn't understand what the things he didn't understand meant.
For the moment, he just focused on increasing his Attack, Defense and Agility, since he would be fighting the monsters with his bare hands.
After distributing the Points, his screen looked like this:
------------------------------------------
[Su Login, 14 Years Old]
[Level: 2]
[XP: 0 / 50]
[Qi: 0 / 2,500]
[Race: Human | Cultivation: Celestial]
[Realm: Unavailable]
[Strength: 3 | Defense: 3]
[Agility: 2 | Qi Gain: 1]
[Intelligence: 1 | Technique: 1]
------------------------------------------
The biggest difference there was that his 'mana' attribute had been replaced by 'Qi'.
If he followed the logic, the 'Qi' bar was how much he needed to advance in something, probably his 'Realm' - a new attribute too - and the 'Qi Gain', next to 'Agility', was the speed he gained from it.
But how do I increase this Qi bar? It doesn't seem to be something that increases just by going up a Level.
In any case, he'd worry about that later, because it was time to look for his first prey.
His Status wasn't exactly the amount of Strength or Agility he possessed, it meant that he would have his current strength multiplied by 0.03.
A muscular man would certainly become even stronger if his current strength was multiplied by that value, or someone very fast would become unreachable if their agility was multiplied by 0.05.
But since Su Login didn't have much muscle in his arms or legs, it wouldn't be very effective.
So he decided to wait.
He was near a lake with drinking water and would try to collect fruit from the surrounding trees without going too far into the forest.
Su Login would train for at least two days to get stronger and get used to moving his body.
With the Daily Login System, he could advance more levels by consuming the Daily Rewards, and he might even be lucky enough to get a sword or something similar to help him in combat.
His mind was made up, it was best to wait. In any case, he was in no hurry. It didn't hurt his pride to be cautious, especially when facing the unknown.
To avoid being spotted by the trio of young men who had intimidated him earlier, he decided to go a little further into the forest, staying in a part that wasn't too deep to see monsters, but also not too close to the lake.
He wished he had his Analysis to use on the fruit nearby, but as he had nothing to do, he just watched the birds eat it.
After clearing a discreet glade, he began his physical training. He knew that two days wouldn't be enough to improve much on the surface, but he would invest all his Points in the Strength attribute.
Even if he gained little mass, tomorrow, with the Strength multiplier, he would be stronger than today's Su Login, and the Su Login after tomorrow would be even stronger.
Investing in defense would be useless at that point. His fragile body wouldn't be able to withstand a single attack from a stronger monster, even if he had 10 or 15 Defense.
It won't be so ineffective training, so I can get used to the weight and the particularities of this new body.
Having defined his objectives, Su Login began his training.
