chapter 31
31. war machine
Max secretly observed Ryan Bourne, the legendary solver of A-044 City.
After the fall of the Stonehead gang, he was a fixer who rose to stardom by single-handedly destroying the slumber gang, which was doing well among the many gangs that sprung up.
‘Who will win if we fight Mr. Leonard?’
It was a primal curiosity that every man has at least once.
Looking at the implant alone, Ryan was overwhelming. It was an ultra-heavy implant that gave up aesthetic elements and focused on practicality, practicality, and practicality. It didn’t even have a cheap rubber skin, so the mechanical skeleton was exposed except for the head, and the structure was very similar to that of War Machine. Several layers of bulletproof steel plates were placed around major organs such as the heart, lungs, and intestines. It was a body that would not budge with the 45-caliber revolver Leonard used to use. Still, Max’s arm bent inward.
‘Leonard’s organs are implant hacking! One shot of hacking is scrap metal!’
In fact, the software was also advanced, so it was not easy. With time, they could penetrate the security and plant a hacking program, but the bear-like lion would not wait until then. To put it simply, I didn’t know who would win. The one with the best weapon, location, and condition will win.
“I brought all the weapons I could bring.”
Leonard and Ryan, who did not want to compete in today’s condition, had a quiet talk.
“It’s probably enough to return to the base.”
Ryan ripped open the 7.62mm light machine gun ammunition box with his bare hands and pulled out all the bullets. It seemed that the owner of the fish exhibition was catching and pulling squid out of the fish tank. One difference is that it is fed to the chest rather than the mouth. An ammunition belt was attached to the cannon built into the left arm. It was a terrifying sight.
That wasn’t enough, so I took a Schneider semi-automatic shotgun and a Rykov 9mm pistol, and carried two fragmentation grenades, two high-explosive grenades, and an anti-tank grenade attached to my body. Tears welled up in my eyes because I felt sorry for Leonard as well, because the equipment he didn’t use.
“7,700 credits… 7,700 credits…”
It was a little better after memorizing the spell like Max.
Ryan Bourne’s friends were also armed, but they had different tastes. A fixer named Elaia Garden only took 6 automatic pistols, and a fixer named Logan Mace took an assault rifle and various knives.
“Do you have any ballistic knives?”
“We don’t handle old-fashioned weapons like that.”
“With a katana?”
Max’s toy caused a misunderstanding. Leonard pleaded that he had met his request as best he could, then brought a chair and sat down. With this, half of the quest is over.
“Even that bodyguard is involved in the request, but from the looks of it, it doesn’t seem urgent…”
Since they were the best fixers in each city, their ego was terrifying. Angry with laughing or laughing face.
“Still, I received something from the client, so let’s kill time until morning. How did you escape to a place like this?”
“Do, do, not escape, now, now, strategic retreat…”
As I realized now, Elaia Garden was a young lady in her mid-twenties. He had straight hair, looked like a man in a camouflage uniform, and had a severe stutter. There must have been a lot of hardship in the army.
“So why did you retreat?”
“Tactical misunderstanding and lack of firepower.”
Logan Mace answered as if Elaia was frustrated. He appeared to be in his late 30s, but his actual age was unknown due to the high implant rate. He was also wearing military uniform pants as if he belonged to the federal army. The uniform over there was comfortable.
“A tactical mistake? Isn’t that a mild expression of ‘I’m an idiot’?”
“Not necessarily.”
Logan Mace put on a puzzled expression and tapped the bottom of his ear once. It was a sign that it was OK to transmit data. It seems that he is not confident in his speech. Leonard replied with a smile.
“I am an implant hacker?”
Logan Mace’s expression hardened. It took a lot of courage to connect hackers and brain chips. When the mood got weird, Ryan Bourne changed the subject.
“What is that kid? It doesn’t seem like a solution.”
“Max Walker! 15 years old! I’m working as Mr. Leonard’s assistant!”
Max jumped up and introduced himself. The eyes of the vicious solvers were focused and tensed up. Ryan laughed like Sigma.
“It’s suitable for those who play house.”
If you get angry here, you are admitting to playing house. Leonard snorted like a man.
“Rather than an immature boy playing war, he’s a precocious guy.”
The evening was not long, so the fight was also short. Ryan turned first.
“We lost two bases and had to withdraw to Wing Town. We’ll be leaving at dawn, so you should close your eyes as well.”
The atmosphere became strange, so I didn’t get an answer as to why I retreated. Truth be told, nothing changed. Dawn came earlier than expected.
@
Implant cyborg has several advantages, the first of which is that it does not require much sleep. For Leonard, an average of four hours a day was sufficient. Therefore, the time I woke up was between 2 and 3 in the morning. The reason why it was not specific is that I didn’t open the brain chip’s clock.
“Shh.”
Ryan Bourne made a quiet gesture with his big fingers. Leonard lowered his legs off the table and drew a revolver from his overcoat at an angle. Elia Garden and Logan Mays also moved slowly. The only one who slept well was young Max.
“Enemy?”
“Wildkid.”
The sound of magazines engaging was heard at the same time. The battle preparations were completed without a long word. Leonard kicked the drooling Max awake and peeked out the window. Nothing has changed except for one flickering street lamp. It was dark and quiet. Changed the visual module to thermal sensing. Like a lie, there are dozens of hot spots.
‘There are so many dirty things.’
Fortunately, Leonard’s vehicle was behind the building. When I sent the hand signal, I understood right away like people from the military.
bang-!
The first floor entrance exploded. It seems that the bomb was put in first to prevent booby traps. It was also a signal for gang attacks.
Ryan Bourne of Heavy Weapons & Heavy Armor took the lead. He kicked open the door, which couldn’t even act as a barricade, and fired a semi-automatic tactical shotgun. bang! bang! bang! The elite Wildkid, who had been running bravely, collapsed.
“That way!”
“Kill!”
Since they were gangsters and elites, a counterattack began immediately. Tata Tang-! Tattang-! Ryan Bourne kept pushing, protecting his head with one arm and shooting with the other. It seems that a full metal jacket was prepared as a countermeasure against military implants, but it could not penetrate the armor for War Machine. A ricochet ricocheted in all directions.
“That, that, that!”
As the Wildkid gang’s fire stopped briefly, Elaia Garden ran out from behind Ryan Vaughn. Kicking the wall, kicking the ceiling, and rolling on the floor, I rushed into the center of the gang.
“This crazy…!”
The flagship became a will. Elaia Garden had an automatic pistol in each hand. 9mm Parabellum bullets fired at 20 rounds per second swept through the gang. Doo doo doo doo-!
“Bitch!”
The gang, who were lucky enough not to be hit, aimed their rifles but didn’t get a chance to pull the trigger. Logan Mace’s kukri flew like a boomerang and split the head.
“You have to write nice words.”
It was not a knife made for throwing, but the workmanship was amazing. Leonard didn’t have anything to say, so he could barely say a word.
“…Wow.”
I felt sorry for the gang for the first time after growing hair. I’ve been fighting against things like that. Max seemed excited as well.
“Can I just pack everything up and have breakfast?”
Ryan Bourne put a shotgun round into the head of the still-breathing Wildkid Gang before reloading. It was like a feat to reload because my hands were so big.
“At this rate, we didn’t even lose our base in the first place.”
“About this much?”
Max asked in a puzzled voice. There are more gangs that have died now than gangs that have ever been killed. said Logan Mace, pulling out his kukri.
“We have to get out of here quickly. Coming soon…”
crashed right now It hit hard too. Kukkang-! bang-!
The wall that Logan was standing on was broken down and a huge machine thrust its head in. No, biologically speaking, it wasn’t the head. It was not a creature in the first place, but even if it was replaced with a creature, there was no structure that could be called a head. Only a large, thick torso and long, slender arms were visible. A triple-barreled cannon instead of a finger was a bonus.
“War Machine!”
Indeed, he was the best solver representing each city. Quickly jumped and rolled and dispersed. Even Ryan, a super-heavy cyborg, was determined and moved, so it was a watery swallow. As the cannon rotated, a rain of bullets poured out. Kwada da da da ta tatang-!
It was a shower of 100 rounds per second. The inside of the building was smashed like a chainsaw. Leonard grabbed Max by the scruff of the neck and managed to hide behind a pole. Every time the bullet storm grazed, the concrete crumbled, and my heart was pounding.
“It’s a pity to cancel.”
“I beg your pardon? What did you say?”
I couldn’t hear my voice because of the noise. Ryan Bourne, hiding in the corner of the hallway, beckoned. If you connect with the brain chip, you can talk right away, but there was no trust like that.
“But I have credit.”
Leonard believed in Lionbone. He was a true maniac who would attack any business or gang when asked. And Ryan also believed in Leonard Walker. He was the original boogeyman who killed countless cyborgs in a mayhem seven years ago.
“Ahhhhh-!”
Ryan Bourne suddenly tore through the wall. The output was so good that it came off with a rebar. Max untied his ears and opened his mouth. The solver’s eccentricity did not end there. Using the concrete wall as a shield, I stepped forward in front of War Machine. Autocannon bullets were concentrated.
“now!”
I couldn’t hear it, but I knew it was now. I came out from behind a column and fired a revolver. bang! bang!
War Machine’s depleted uranium armor was unlikely to be pierced by a .45 caliber bullet, but it didn’t matter. The camera on War Machine’s torso looked at Leonard. That was enough. The barrel of the machine gun was spinning and the hacking program was uploaded at the same time. The upload ended when a barrage of bullets shattered walls, broke windows, and came right next to Leonard.
“Bang.”
Leonard pretended to fire a revolver. I didn’t really shoot, but it had an impact beyond shooting. Kuang-bang-! The driving part that connected the cannon exploded, and War Machine’s arms fell off.
“As expected, Hexagon!”
“…yes?”
It only paralyzed War Machine’s synchronization, but I didn’t know that the gun would separate. I was pathetic about how the maintenance was done. When Leonard didn’t say anything in embarrassment, Elaia and Logan Mays moved.
As he jumped into the arms of the war machine and cut off the pilot’s arms, the hatch opened with a scream. The steel robot is invincible, but the man who controls it is an ordinary gangster. A lead bullet with a diameter of 9 mm was lodged deep in the brain.
“Because there are hackers, War Machine deserves to be caught!”
“Three, three, three times is a specification…”
“Me too. Let’s get out of here at once.”
Ryan Bourne threw aside the halved concrete wall and pointed at the back door.
The Wildkid Gang’s attack isn’t over yet.
