chapter 40
40 – 40. Let’s write some more, you guys!!
40.
“It’s astounding.”
Allen clicked his tongue.
The forest was pure white.
Looking at the scenery of the forest, ripped apart by the icy storm that had poured down from above, astonishment could be seen on the faces of the other first-year representatives.
And the main contributors of this spectacle, Leyla and Selene, were catching their breaths.
“I’ve heard that the power of linked magic is awe-inspiring, and it’s no joke.”
The ice hail spell capable of summoning hail storms, ‘Hail Shower’.
The invisible wind prison that traps a vast region with wind, ‘Wind Lock’.
As fitting for the linked magic that required the longest preparation time out of the ones Leyla and Selene could use, its power was truly colossal.
“The snowstorm that pours like hail… Hail Blizzard. It’s quite an apt name.”
Alan shifted his gaze and Tia came into his sight.
“Magic’s not my forte, Professor. Do you think this will work on our seniors in second year?”
“I wondered why you were looking for me. Did you call me to consult about this, star?”
“I’ve told you, I’m a noob with magic. My sword skills are mediocre at best.”
At Alan’s comment, Tia casually bit onto the pipe she had recently acquired from Kunlung, her legs kicking back and forth.
Due to her robust physique, the male representatives of the freshmen couldn’t even look in her direction properly.
Alan was one of the few who could face her directly.
Excluding female students, of course.
Tia smirked.
“I didn’t expect the first year students to be able to implement such a magic formula. How interesting. Leyla Von Prin, Selene Von Ashtol?”
“Yes, Professor.”
“Yes, Professor!”
“The formula is impressive but there’s still a lot of waste. Although it’s a decisive formula intended as a trump card for a confrontation, the preparation time is too long. If you need to prepare for over 30 minutes, you won’t be able to use it in a real clash.”
At Tia’s cold assessment, Selene and Leyla’s expressions became slightly disheartened.
If the knights from the vanguard department have learned some sort of joint tactics called ‘formation’ from Alan, they needed to prepare for the 4-round group fight.
The magic that Leyla and Selene thought through together, Hail Blizzard.
They didn’t expect praise from Tia, but the two could only force out a bitter smile.
“But let me praise you. It’s okay. I think it’s a formula that can be craved even in the magic tower if refined.”
“Oh…!”
Seeing Leyla and Selene’s faces brighten up, Tia chuckled.
“The important thing is to decrease the preparation time. For a dual linkage formula that isn’t a multi-linkage one involving multiple magic, you can significantly shorten the preparation time just by tweaking the composition.”
Tia’s eyes sparkled as though she was having fun.
“Shall I just help refine the formula a bit?”
It was a conversation from three days ahead of the grade-to-grade competition.
“The magical surge is unstable!”
“The dispel, what about it?!”
“No good! Is it a composite spell?!”
“Can’t see the magic circle!”
“What about the spell configuration calculation?!”
“Too late! If we go on like this, the dispel is irrelevant…!”
A magician’s dispel means it’s a headache magic that triggers by reverse calculating the opponent’s spell configuration and dismantling it. But the problem is the spell configuration they’ve never seen before.
“The attribute is wind! And ice…!”
“Dispel it! Hurry!”
“Why is the spell so complicated!? Even if it’s a multiple spell, this is too much!”
“It’s not being used by one person…?!”
“Connected magic…! Do they dare?!”
A pale shadow stretches over the heads of the flustered second-year students.
The white magic circle floated in the air is Raila’s.
The superimposition over the magic circle, made with the white colored magical force representing the power of ice, is a magic circle made from the green magical force representing the wind.
As Selene’s wind and Raila’s ice powers overlap, a fearsome magical force ripples.
A magic force so strong it makes their skin prickle strikes down like a lightning bolt piercing all the magic circles.
“Hail Blizzard!!”
The spell activated in concordance with Raila and Selene’s cry engulfed the stadium with hail.
It was the same spectacle Allen had seen three days earlier.
The sight of flowers made of frost blooming and covering the stadium turning it white was absurd.
The power that emerged after Teia fixed it a few times was ludicrously strong.
‘So, that’s a professor for you.’
The famous wizarding family, the Bernhardt clan.
Teia is a brilliant wizard recognized by everyone in the Bernhardt clan. However, she was equally quirky.
But Allen felt painfully how real her skill was.
After all, all the defense spells and everything that the second year students had unfolded were turned into frostbites.
If there hadn’t been any artifacts, the injuries would have been severe.
“What a ruckus.”
Alan clicked his tongue.
Elion, a third year, had drawn aggro with a wide-area magic, and while attention was diverted, Leila and Selene from behind launched their coordinated magic, simultaneously wiping out the enemy’s vanguard and rearguard.
It was a one-off reversal strategy prepared by the first year representative.
Anyway, since everyone had artifacts with defensive magic, there won’t be any accidents like casualties even when subjected to such attacks.
Half of the arena, covered in pure white frost, only Albert was standing unharmed.
Albert, who lightly moved the slightly frozen frost and shattered it, was seen smiling.
“I didn’t think I’d be hit like this. Elion. It seems this victory is rightfully yours.”
“hahahahaha! I didn’t want to win this way! After two consecutive losses, and this time it’s my revenge! Finally, it’s 2 against 1, Albert!”
“Me too.”
The sound of Albert and Elion conversing could be heard.
Alan clenched his jaw and shook his head.
“The winner is… the representative of the first year…!!”
The delayed victory declaration echoed through the stadium.

Bellerza Imperial Academy’s biggest event at the beginning of the semester, the inter-year competition, ended with the victory of the first years.
This was a first since Albert, when he was a first year, overwhelmingly beat the second year students.
The fact that such a situation came up in just two years was quite shocking for the second year students.
“Congratulations on your victory.”
Felicia smiled and personally pinned badges on the chests of the first-year representatives.
Those who distinguished themselves in the inter-year competition would receive badges, certificates, and cash prizes.
Last year, her brother, Prince Hubert, had come, but this year, since Felicia was attending, she was personally pinning them.
After all, it was a tradition for the royal family to attach the badges.
“Thank you, Your Highness.”
“Thank you!”
“You’ve all worked so hard. It’s a comforting result. It’s incredible to see so many talents who will carry the future of our empire.”
At Felicia’s words, the representatives of the first year flashed awkward smiles.
This is because they achieved their results with Alan’s help.
Stella let out a slight cough.
“What’s wrong, Stella?”
“Actually, Allan Muller helped us in preparing for this year’s contest.”
“Allan, huh?”
“Without his help, I don’t think we could have won,” Stella said earnestly.
Celene and Laila, the main heroes of the fourth round, nodded as if they agreed.
Felicia laughed.
“Did you think I wouldn’t know? I knew that Allan rushed to the training ground as soon as classes ended. However, I didn’t expect he prepared you for something like this.”
Felicia said, as she watched the first-year representatives laugh awkwardly.
“You should be proud. Even the mere fact that we’ve beaten the second-year seniors is enough to prove our worth.”
“And by worth…”
“It means that the scounters of the four magical towers of the empire, and the three knight divisions, have set their sights on you all.”
“I hope this makes you feel better,” Felicia added, laughing.
“Enjoy your feelings right now. Your future is secure. Make sure to imprint that in your mind.”
***
While the award ceremony was on, Allan, who left the arena, looked dumbfounded at the mess in the room.
The room was turned upside down as if a typhoon had swept through.
“What the hell happened here?”
“…it’s total chaos.”
“My manuscript!!”
Allan rushed into the room urgently.
Luckily, the drawer where the manuscript was kept was intact, but the strange thing was that the swordsmanship manual he had been keeping was missing.
While Meia was cleaning the room, Allan furrowed his brow at the bizarre situation.
“What in the world is going on? They aimed for my swordsmanship manual, not my manuscript?”
“I’m sure there must be a reason, but it’s hard to deduce it right now.”
At Meia’s words, Allan also nodded.
“That’s the problem. Who the hell would steal that?”
“You should be relieved that the manuscript is okay.”
“I would’ve lost all motivation to write if the 4 volumes of the manuscript were burnt or lost.”
Allan was shaking his head in disbelief.
Although he had made a duplicate copy in advance, there was still a difference between the original and the duplicate.
“I had to sneak into my room during the inter-grade tournament. Who the devil could’ve done this?”
“It might be wise to go see Miss Belsta.”
“Right. I should do that. I need to find out who messed up my room this bad.”
With his lodging destroyed, the door left ajar, Allen gritted his teeth as he stepped out.
“Let me write peacefully, you bastards───!!”
His roar of anger echoed.
