Episode 29
Episode 29
It was late evening.
Rosalyn held her breath. Ever since Lindsey had collapsed, she had been treading carefully.
‘Why do I have to endure this treatment?’
She wasn’t used to the accusatory gazes of others.
The subjugation had ended successfully. After Lindsey collapsed, Rosalyn led the priests to heal the transcendents.
Though she hadn’t been able to heal Mikhail, she believed she had managed to cover up her disgrace.
‘Lindsey Kesion is going to die anyway.’
Thinking this, Rosalyn paced her room anxiously.
‘What if my mistake reaches my father…’
That night, Kenyan Radian left the mansion. Lindsey couldn’t be saved.
Bringing a magician in time was nearly impossible.
Lindsey would die. If so, her father would have no choice but to favor her.
Rosalyn bit her nails with a nervous face, a habit she had when feeling anxious.
But what if Lindsey didn’t die?
Then what would she do?
‘Raysis and Kenyan are definitely involved. They’re suppressing Lindsey Kesion’s curse.’
They were using their powers to suppress Lindsey’s curse.
Because of this, Lindsey, who should have already stiffened completely, was still breathing freely.
‘Mikhail Dweisi seems to be normal, though…’
Despite thinking this, Rosalyn trembled with fear.
She remembered Mikhail’s terrifying gaze as he looked down at the collapsed Lindsey.
‘He must hate Lindsey Kesion.’
With this thought, Rosalyn walked towards the stairs.
She felt she needed to check Lindsey’s condition.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to act due to her anxiety.
At that moment, both Kenyan Radian and Raysis were away receiving treatment, leaving the mansion empty.
If not now, it might become difficult to see Lindsey.
Rosalyn slowly opened the door to Lindsey’s room.
Seeing Lindsey, she cautiously smiled.
Lindsey Kesion was steadily dying. Her breaths were so faint they seemed ready to stop at any moment.
‘Good thing I ran away.’
If she hadn’t fled and had healed Mikhail, she would be the one lying there in that state. Lindsey’s condition proved that her choice had been right.
‘I should have gotten rid of her long ago.’
In childhood, Lindsey had only served to make her stand out. Lindsey was just a convenient toy for her.
Naturally, Lindsey had failed to awaken her divine power. Lindsey was always inferior to Rosalyn.
When they were together, Lindsey made her shine.
Rosalyn looked down at Lindsey.
This was the role that suited Lindsey best.
Always beneath her, serving her.
‘But how dare you…’
Watching Lindsey’s face contort in pain, Rosalyn felt a surge of anger.
If Lindsey died here, no one would care. They would think she succumbed to the curse.
‘If you disappear, there will be no one to replace me.’
Then her disgrace would also be buried.
She saw Lindsey’s slender neck.
It looked so fragile, as if it could break with just a little pressure.
As Rosalyn moved her hand towards Lindsey’s neck,
“Take your hand off her.”
A voice interrupted.
Rosalyn froze. The voice she heard was chillingly low and eerie.
She imagined someone slitting her throat. She stepped back, trembling.
Sweat dripped down her forehead.
“H-How… are you here…?”
Mikhail Dweisi had appeared.
He looked at her with an emotionless expression. Without answering her, he walked towards Lindsey.
Rosalyn’s eyes widened as she saw the person standing next to Mikhail.
‘The master of the Western Tower…!’
There was someone who should never have been here. And it wasn’t just him.
Raysis was also looking at her with eyes wide in disbelief.
Rosalyn stepped back, staggering. Mikhail stood in front of her.
“What were you trying to do?”
His eyes were filled with contempt. Rosalyn was shocked.
Mikhail Dweisi showing emotion?
Mikhail was impartial to everyone. He was detached and gave affection to no one.
Rosalyn had often wondered if he even had emotions.
He followed Crain’s orders, but that was it.
He wasn’t close to any member of the family. That’s why Rosalyn felt reassured.
He was fair to everyone. It wasn’t just her; he thought everyone was equally worthless.
But it wasn’t like that.
Mikhail was angry at her because of Lindsey. This realization slashed through Rosalyn’s heart.
Mikhail had something she couldn’t achieve despite years of effort.
“I… I was just trying to wipe her sweat.”
Rosalyn said with a pitiful face, bowing her head. No matter what she did wrong, people forgave her if she looked sad enough.
“Do you think I would try to hurt Lindsey? I care about her so much.”
“…”
“Please don’t think I’m such a cruel person. It makes me so upset…”
She covered her face with both hands and sobbed.
Even the master of the Tower next to Mikhail looked pityingly at her.
Raysis rubbed his eyes in disbelief.
Normally, he would have comforted her without hesitation. But Kenyan’s words lingered in his mind, and he couldn’t move.
“Raysis, you don’t believe me either?”
Raysis couldn’t answer immediately. After a moment of thought, he turned away from her.
“I don’t want to believe it either. Why did you do it?”
“You know I’m not that kind of person!”
Rosalyn staggered, her face filled with shock. But no one came to support her.
“I will hold the Kesion family accountable.”
Mikhail said as he passed Rosalyn. His gaze felt like it was piercing her, making her shiver.
Not only Mikhail but also Raysis passed her to rush to Lindsey.
Left alone, Rosalyn clenched her fists and closed her eyes tightly.
She genuinely hated Lindsey.
She always had, but now she felt even more hatred.
She couldn’t tolerate it anymore.

“Han Ji-yoo, you’re really clumsy.”
Someone was gently stroking Lindsey’s head.
Who calls me clumsy, I’m an S-class guide.
“Why are you so injured? I told you to just run if it got dangerous.”
The voice was so tender it could melt her heart. It sounded genuinely concerned for her.
“Do you understand? Next time, just run.”
Okay, I’ll run, isn’t that enough?
“Remember my words, you have to run.”
Lindsey kept nodding her head at the continuous words.
Run, I need to run.
But, where to?
“Gasp!”
A sudden thought made Lindsey wake up with a gasp.
She roughly pushed away the hand touching her forehead.
Panting, she glared at Raysis, who was sitting in front of her.
“Are you okay? Why did you scream?”
She had felt restless in her dreams, and now this unlucky guy was near her.
First Kenyan, now this guy. She couldn’t understand why they kept being around.
Raysis had dark circles under his eyes.
“So you’re alive now. Your hands are quite sharp.”
At his words, Lindsey realized her movements were natural.
She raised her hand.
The curse had been lifted.
“How was the curse lifted? It was severe.”
She wasn’t feverish, and her speech was clear. Her body, which had been stiffening, was now free.
It meant the mana in her body had been drained.
Lindsey looked at Raysis. His expression hardened at her questioning gaze.
“Mikhail Dweisi went to the Western Tower and brought back the master.”
Raysis laughed incredulously as he spoke.
He hadn’t considered it possible. All they could do was extend Lindsey’s life.
But Mikhail had gone to the Western Tower and practically kidnapped the master.
It took a month’s journey, but he did it in three weeks. The master had arrived pale and constantly nauseous.
Raysis thought Mikhail was beyond extraordinary, but he had exceeded his expectations.
“That’s why I’m alive.”
Lindsey looked down at her hands.
She had thought she would die, but it seemed this world had no intention of letting her go.
She felt desolate.
Maybe it would have been easier if she hadn’t dreamed about her Espers the whole time she was cursed.
“I’m going back to the Kesion family.”
“…”
“And you…”
Raysis wanted to ask why she hadn’t mentioned Rosalyn’s behavior until now.
But he soon closed his mouth.
He was still in shock. He couldn’t forget the scene of Rosalyn reaching for Lindsey’s neck.
‘Who would have thought Rosalyn would do such a thing.’
He had always thought Rosalyn looked after Lindsey. When Lindsey had stolen his mother’s keepsake, she had protected her more than anyone.
But if Kenyan Radian’s words were true?
‘No, it’s already true.’
There had been murderous intent in Rosalyn’s gestures.
Raysis frowned.
He felt frustrated. Various emotions he couldn’t explain were tormenting him.
Raysis adjusted his glasses. It took him a while before he could bring himself to ask Lindsey.
“I have something to ask.”
“Don’t ask.”
“My mother’s keepsake.”
“I said don’t ask.”
Lindsey’s eyes turned fierce.
But Raysis didn’t stop. He felt that if he didn’t ask now, he might never get another chance.
“Did you not steal it?”
