Harry and the rest teleported somewhere in the highlands in England. Far away from any villages or people. The Potters have always been secretive people. More often than not people only learn about a new Potter when it's time for the Sorting Ceremony in Hogwarts. They never release the news that a child has been born and those that do know are sworn to secrecy.
Or at least that was the case but Charles Potter and decided to change that. He wasn't exactly wrong to do so.
The times have changed and so have politics. Now it's more or less necessary for heirs to interact and watch how their parents work.
They meet each other at balls and celebration parties. After all each birthday you don't go to, is a missed business opportunity.
Once the lights from the magic circle faded everyone froze for a second and their knees felt weak. They were standing on an invisible platform 15 meters in the air.
Well everyone except Harry. he is the one who set the coordinates and made sure there was a magical platform on those coordinates.
Hope quickly grabbed Melinda and pointed her wand downwards. But she realized they weren't falling. One by one they all calmed down somewhat now that they knew they weren't falling to their deaths. Poor Astoria was terrified.
"Harry! How about warning us before you do something like this!" Melinda yelled out with an angry face.
Harry turned to her with a confused look.
" Why? It was obvious we were going to have to teleport in the air. I have never been here. and what if the coordinates I received from the Potter Ring are wrong? Nobody has been here in 10 years. What if a tree grew where we were going to teleport? We would have been impaled the moment we appeared here"
When Harry said it like that it did make sense.
"You still should have said something, look at poor Astoria" Melinda pointed at her.
Harry turned to the girl and saw that Astoria was clutching Ophelia's robes while shaking like a leaf
"Oops"
Melinda and Hope deadpanned at him.
Harry cast a calming charm at the little girl along with a minor cheering charm. This seemed to help her stop panicking.
"Sorry, I forgot that they are not used to my approach. I will make sure to say something beforehand. But for now, welcome to the Potter Ancestral Manor."
The Potter Crest was on the Stone Pillars at the gate. Two Gladiuses crossed and pointing downward and a wand pointed downward behind them.
Everybody stood in awe of the Manor. Harry was frowning It was a Roman-inspired Baroque Manor/Villa. It was made with beautiful white stone
Obviously, when the Potter family decided to Remodel they paid respect to their Roman roots. Apparently they sunk the original Manor they built around 500 BC. And build on top of it. Their way of preserving History.
'What a dump' Harry looked around the place. The lawn was a disaster, it looked like a jungle. The wards on the place were still active thanks to the fact that this place was built over 2 lay lines. But the wards haven't been given maintenance for a long time, some are active but most are at best operating at half capacity, and some weren't working at all.
The only wards that are working are the. Fiddelus knock off Ward, which prevents people from remembering the location of the manor after they leave it. And the Preservation Charms on the whole property. It's the reason why the manor hasn't started falling apart.
No one has lived here since Agustus Potter, Charles Potter's father decided this place is too big for such a small family like them, so he bought another manor, moved the Grimoires and bits of their family history there.
'At least the house elves are doing their jobs' They kept the manor spotless. ' They must have decided to conserve magic so they left the grass to grow into a freaking jungle. . I need to bond with the buggers so the 'link' can be at full strength. Right now they should be getting magic from the Manor itself. But it's like drinking water by getting a few drops a minute.
Eventually, they will get enough to survive. But not enough to do all the work required around the manor.
"This place needs a lot of cleaning up to do. I'm not sure if I even want to know in what conditions the greenhouses were in" Harry sighed and started to lower the platform so they can 'land' on the ground.
But once they got down to 8 meters above ground Hope grabbed his arm and stopped him from going any lower.
Harry immediately stopped and saw her expression. Hope had a serious expression with a frown as she looked out into the forest."$ Revelio $" Harry called out and a wave of magic shot out from him and into the forest. There was a figure there that glowed blue.
A Magical Creature was in the forest. A big one. Seeing that its location has been discovered the creature came out from its hiding place.
It came out and the group could finally make out what it was.
The creature had the body of a lion with a scorpions tail and bat like wings on its back. The face looked like a humans fused with a lions.
The creature was a manticore. Extremely aggressive and dangerous. Its hide repelled almost all spells. And it was very intelligent, known to be capable of human speech.
" A Manticore" Ophelia said with fear in her voice.
Dragons, Nindus and Manticores are extremely dangerous, they require teams of wizards to take down, and not without casualties.
" Mmm, fresh meat, and it looks like its a buffet" The Manticore licked its lips as it watched them. Its voice was deep and had this growl to it.
Harry frowned and used a few more spells in the forest. " I see. I had wondered why there was a manticore this far out in the highlands. There are a few dozen skeletal remains in there.
This manor has a muggle aversion ward. So when tourists, hikers or campers come here, the wards redirect them to the forest. So they would think they are lost and would just follow the trail back to their start.
But you found this out and turned this place into a trap. You didn't even need to do anything. Food came directly to you"
" Just as you have. Rahhh" The Manticore lunged at them but Harry blasted it back with a flick of his hand
Harry was grinning like a madman. " I have never fought a manticore before, i hear you guys have a top tier poison in that stinger of yours.
Lucky me, I get a real life test subject to advance my poisons even further than they are now. I'm making quite the profit from them you know"
Harry jumped off the platform while making sure it would stay there for a few minutes, so he doesn't drop his 'family'.
"Let's start things with some nice good old Alchemy" Harry raised his hand his thumb and middle finger were pressed together
*SNAP*
*BOOOOOM*
Fire engulfed the creature. Since it was a magical animal with quite a bit of magical resistance Harry didn't hold back.
Especially since these flames have no magic in them. Flame Alchemy is a result of using magic to make the perfect conditions for science to flourish.
All Harry was doing with magic was gathering Oxygen and then he just created a spark. Physics took care of the rest.
The flames weren't doing much to the creature, it was just making it angrier.
" I will Kil- Gah" A sharp stone hit the Manticore in the mouth as it was talking. ( Armstrong stone bullets)
Earth rose up and started to drag down the Manticores hind legs.
' Now for a little Hydrogen mixed with Oxygen, my own personal ratio for the aptly named 'Explosion Magic'... and done'
Harry threw the bubble that was separated in two by a magical membrane. One side oxygen and the other is hydrogen.
Without even blinking, the manticore stabbed the bubble with its stinger. That was a bad move.
* BOOOOOOOOOM*
" I love magic"
The Manticore came out of the explosion, its fur was scuffed and burned in a few places. Its eyes were red from how angry it was.
"Duplici Aqua Sectum " (Double Water Slash)
Harry waved his hand and sent compressed water slashes at the manticore. The water slashes hit its fur, leaving behind some shallow slash marks.
'Hmmm, it is possible to injure it, but the amount of magic necessary to do some real damage makes attacking it inefficient. Let's try sealing it's movements.
I needed to test these in combat anyway.'
"Bakudo #4- Crawling Rope" (Bakudo #4- Hainawa)
Lightning gathered in his hands and he pointed at the creature. The lightning shot outward like a rope and started to coil around the Manticore.
"What is this" It started to struggle against the binding.
'Figures it wouldn't hold, But let's move on to something more little more powerful with a chant'
"Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat!!"
"Bakudo #10- STILL" (Geki- its Strike in the OG)
The chimera was engulfed in a red light, it clung on to it like a layer of skin its movements started to get slower. "Why is it.. hard to move"
"I'm just starting here mate."
Harry's right hand was engulfed in lightning energy. He moved his hand to the left in a straight line. Then down, then back to its original position on the right.
The lightning formed lines in the air, forming a triangle. Lightning started to gather at the corners. Forming into a large fang-like shape (Beak in the OG, but really Beak?)
"Bakudo #30 Shtotsu Sansen" ( A/N the Eng name sucks Beak-Piercing Triple Beam)
The Fang Projectiles launched themselves and pierced into the Manticore. But the point of this spell wasn't to do damage, but rather to restrain. The lightning kept the body in place while placing a localized current on the muscles where it hit.
Bakudo #63 Winding Binding Chains (SajoSabaku)
Harry focused and formed a giant chain made out of light. The chain went and wrapped itself around the creature. Which started to roar out.
Harry clicked his tongue.
' Bakudo #63 incomplete. The Magic Sealing isn't working properly. At best it's working around 35%. It's not worth using this much mana for such a small percentage. There are better spells and runes that could do the job. Back to the drawing board, maybe I will have to recreate it like #75'
Harry stomped his foot on the ground, A Transmutation Circle appeared. The earth beneath the Manticore changed to quicksand.
"Walls of iron sand, a priestly pagoda, glowing ironclad fireflies. Standing upright, silent to the end."
" Bakudo #75 Quintet of Iron Pillars!"
Up in the air, 5 giant iron pillars formed. On the top, they were connected by chains. The pillars slammed down on the Manticore, pushing it down deeper and sealing its movements.
'This one is one of my masterpieces. At first, I conjured just 5 pillars but they were worthless. Then I decided I was going to write runes on them. The entire pillar has runes etched into it, sealing runes, runes that prevent anybody from moving them with magic.
So once it was complete, I just memorized the entire rune scheme needed. I conjured the 5 pillars with the runes already carved. So the moment it was conjured, the runes would take effect '
Harry started walking to the group who speechlessly looked at him as he defeated the Manticore with little effort.
"Let's go. The seals will keep it in place for a while. I need to activate the heartstone in the Manor. Then we can deal with the rest" Harry passed by them and continued to whistle as he walked. The entire encounter with the Manticore was just another Tuesday to him"
