Chapter 15 - Are you an idiot?
Chapter 15: Are you an idiot?
In the backyard of the Pokemon House, Guxin admired the spacious environment around him and smiled, remarking that he had chosen to buy the store precisely because of this situation. With some remaining space in the backyard, it was perfect for customers to engage in battles.
“Thanks to the careful selection I made when buying this shop.”
“Are you two ready?” Guxin asked Chu Kelian and Lin Sheng, motioning for them to take their positions on opposite sides. Bai Qianqian stood beside Guxin, her face filled with curiosity, while Diancie held a camera a bit further back. Guxin had entrusted her to film the battle.
“No problem at all!”
“I’m ready, too!”
Chu Kelian exclaimed, brimming with energy. This outgoing girl always had a lively spirit. On the other hand, Lin Sheng, an otaku, felt a tinge of nervousness, but he managed to suppress his racing heart. This new activity was thrilling and exciting for him.
“Alright, let’s start the battle between Chu Kelian and Lin Sheng,” Guxin smiled at the two and announced the battle rules.
“The battle is a 1 v 1 match. Each side will use one. When one side’s Pokémon loses the ability or will to battle, the other side wins.”
“The battle begins!”
Guxin declared the rules, then stepped back two paces to give the stage to the two participants.
“It feels so official and professional,” Bai Qianqian blinked and looked at Guxin. This boss was really mysterious. How did he know so much about these Pokémon?
But these thoughts passed quickly, and Bai Qianqian looked at Chu Kelian.
“Go for it, Chu Kelian!”
Bai Qianqian cheered on her best friend.
“Squirtle Squirtle~ (Let’s go, let’s go!)”
Waving its two little paws, Squirtle chanted, rallying the crowd. As a Pokémon, it naturally knew what was going on.
“Hehe~ That’s a must! Charmander! Crush that fox on the other side!”
“Chaaar~”
Chu Kelian was very confident, shouting encouragingly to Charmander. But evidently, her timid Charmander lacked some self-assurance, even in its cry.
“My Vulpix won’t lose to a lizard!”
Seeing the opponent’s arrogance, Lin Sheng retorted without showing weakness.
“You…”
Chu Kelian was quite dissatisfied. Who was he calling a lizard?
“Uh, excuse me. Pokémon battles aren’t about trash-talking. You have to let your Pokémon use their moves…”
Unable to watch any longer, Guxin helplessly covered his forehead, interrupting Chu Kelian’s retort. Perhaps he had expected too much?
“Let me think.”
Chu Kelian was stunned for a moment, then quickly took out her Pokédex to check the moves her Charmander knew.
Hmm, she had forgotten the moves Charmander had.
“Ember, Growl, Scratch…”
Seeing Chu Kelian flipping through her Pokédex during the battle, Guxin felt a headache coming on. Seriously…
“Vulpix! Use Ember!”
Compared to Chu Kelian, Lin Sheng was more experienced. After all, he had already had his Vulpix use moves before.
“Vuuul~”
Upon hearing the command, Vulpix immediately opened its mouth, sending small embers flying towards Charmander.
Since it didn’t receive Chu Kelian’s command, Charmander, who was still quite young, didn’t even know how to dodge. It ended up being hit by the embers.
Charmander cried in pain and fell to the ground, the small embers knocking it over.
“Charmander, are you okay?”
Chu Kelian was shocked and hurriedly asked Charmander.
“Lii…”
Charmander got up and let out a low growl towards Chu Kelian to assure her it was okay. Despite some scratches on its body, the injuries were not severe. Fire-type moves like Ember weren’t very effective against Charmander.
Seeing that Charmander was fine, Chu Kelian breathed a sigh of relief and then glared at Lin Sheng.
“You’re despicable! You sneak-attacked my Charmander!”
“You should be responsible for your words, miss. You didn’t give Charmander any commands.”
Lin Sheng was quite displeased. They were in a legitimate battle, after all. How did it become a sneak attack? Guxin had just announced the start of the battle.
“Ugh! Charmander, let’s use Ember too!”
Chu Kelian was even angrier.
Upon hearing this, Lin Sheng was shocked, and Bai Qianqian, who was watching, also blinked.
If he remembered correctly…
Charmander puffed up its chest slightly, and small fireballs were immediately shot out, aiming at Vulpix. However, to Chu Kelian’s surprise, Lin Sheng didn’t command Vulpix to dodge.
But what happened next stunned Chu Kelian.
Charmander’s Ember hit Vulpix quickly, but these embers seemed to be drawn to Vulpix. They paused in midair as if being absorbed by Vulpix. Vulpix’s body was enveloped in a faint red light, becoming even more beautiful.
“How could this happen?” Chu Kelian was bewildered.
“It’s the Flash Fire ability, you idiot! Didn’t we read about Vulpix’s information together before?”
Bai Qianqian couldn’t hold back anymore, and she scolded her friend with embarrassment and frustration.
Hadn’t her eyes turned mystical when she looked at Lin Sheng? As if she was gazing at something incredible.
“Oh… I forgot…”
Chu Kelian’s face turned red. Vulpix had the Flash Fire ability, making fire-type moves ineffective against it. Instead, these moves made its fire-type moves even stronger.
“Vulpix, keep using Ember!”
Lin Sheng smiled, his face full of joy. Well, the opponent was quite easy to deal with.
Balls of fire, even more vibrant than before, flew towards Charmander. Vulpix’s Ember had become even more powerful!
“Charmander, quickly dodge!” Bai Qianqian was quite anxious.
Although she gave the correct command this time, there were more Embers from Vulpix. Charmander tried to avoid them by using its short legs to maneuver. It managed to dodge some of them, but one or two small fireballs hit it. Fortunately, the damage wasn’t severe.
“This is like two chickens pecking at each other…”
Guxin, who was watching the battle, couldn’t bear to look. One side was mindlessly spamming Ember, while the other was frantically dodging.
He shouldn’t have had high expectations for this so-called first Pokémon battle.
Diancie held up the camera with one hand and couldn’t help but yawn cutely with the other hand. This battle was even less interesting than Tom and Jerry…
