I'm Really Not A Nen Exorcist (HxH Fanfic)

Chapter 431: Chapter 431 The Suffocating Feeling

Moses, still in the posture of finishing his slash, calmly watched Kargis retreat, and with his other hand, slowly raised his phone back to his ear.

"Wright, there's a spiky-haired guy with a dagger and a scar by his right eye. I think he's called Kargis. Is he related to the injury you got?"

"W-what?!"

After hearing what Moses said, Wright seemed to have regained his ability to think after the initial shock. He quickly asked, "Moses, what the hell is going on over there?"

"I'm fighting. The opponents are from the Erimo Bandit Group."

Moses kept his eyes fixed on Kargis, who gradually stopped retreating.

Before targeting the Erimo Bandit Group, Moses had already memorized the appearances and names of these preys.

So, as soon as Kargis showed his face, Moses immediately identified him by name.

"Fighting? Are you alone?"

Wright took a deep breath, his expression solemn.

Moses calmly retracted his black sword and calmly replied: "No, it's too complicated to explain right now."

After a pause, Moses asked again, "So, is this Kargis guy related to your injury?"

"…"

Wright fell silent for a moment, feeling very complicated. Then, he said slowly: "I was stabbed by him twice..."

"Hmm, understood."

Moses kept his eyes on Kargis, who seemed to be attempting to regroup with Ainbo.

"He's almost done."

With that, Moses declared Kargis's death sentence in advance.

Wright knew very well that Moses wasn't the kind of person to boast recklessly.

So now, he felt both bewildered and shocked, unable to comprehend what was happening on Moses's end.

'Could it be that while Moses was talking to me on the phone, he easily took care of two members of the Erimo Bandit Group?'

'That sort of thing...'

'How could it be possible?'

Wright knew that Moses was very strong, and he was also getting stronger at an alarming speed.

'But it's impossible to reach such an incredible level, right?'

Wright, who had narrowly escaped death, was still unaware of Moses' feat of hunting down three spiders.

Now, the hearing Moses casually declare the deaths of two Erimo Bandit Group members was enough to leave Wright utterly stunned.

The calls continued, and so did the battle inside the military camp.

Kargis ignored the minor wound on his chest and quickly moved toward Ainbo.

"Ainbo, how much longer can you hold on?"

Kargis came to Ainbo's side and quickly glanced at Ainbo's gruesome severed arm.

'He lost an arm, and it was his dominant hand...'

'Even if Ainbo could survive this operation, his strength would certainly be greatly reduced.'

"Cut the crap."

Ainbo glared at Moses with a twisted face and snarled: "That was the perfect chance, and you still messed up. Why don't you just let that guy cut you down with one slash?"

"…"

Kargis was speechless, or rather, unable to refute.

That opportunity just now...

He had thought it was guaranteed to succeed and there wouldn't be any surprises.

However, he missed and was nearly seriously injured by Moses's slash instead.

Although this result was related to the Nen Ability displayed by Moses, a failure is a failure, there is no excuse.

However-

"I've already figured out his ability. Next time, I'll..."

Kargis stopped mid-sentence.

Because Ainbo had wrapped his arm tightly around Kargis's neck.

"Guh, ugh…"

With his neck in a death grip, Kargis's face flushed from the sudden lack of oxygen. He strained to tilt his head back, and looked at Ainbo with his eyes moving upwards in surprise and doubt.

"This time, you can't escape!!!"

Ainbo glared at Kargis, his eyes filled with murderous rage, as if he wanted to tear him apart.

Kargis could hardly believe the sudden shift in Ainbo's demeanor.

Just a moment ago, Ainbo had been scolding him normally, but now he was treating Kargis like a mortal enemy.

'Is he being controlled by a Manipulation-Type Ability...?'

Kargis's eyes widened in disbelief, and a deep sense of doubt creeped over him.

'How is this possible...'

From the previous confrontation, he had confirmed that Moses was an Emitter.

And before making his move, he had also confirmed that Moses was the only Nen User in the area.

'Then, how could Ainbo be manipulated?'

'If he is really controlled by a Manipulation-Type Ability, then...'

'Was Ainbo's desperate attack on that guy just now just a trap for me?'

As soon as this possibility crossed his mind, Kargis felt a sudden chill running down his spine that went straight to the depths of his soul.

It wasn't because his neck was locked by the crazy Ainbo...

Instead, he 'saw' Moses's horror from this possibility.

'Impossible, absolutely impossible...'

Kargis's eyes rolled downward to look at Moses, who stood calmly in the rain, casually talking on the phone.

Such a relaxed attitude caused Kargis to waver for a moment.

Suddenly-

A giant spiderweb seemed to close in from all directions, above, below, front, and back.

'Impossible!!!'

Kargis's eyes filled with bloodshot veins, and despite the dizziness from the lack of oxygen, he managed to raise his right hand and thrust his dagger upward, stabbing through Ainbo's arm.

Immediately-

Kargis gritted his teeth and slashed forward with the dagger.

Slash!

Blood splattered.

Ainbo's arm, which had been strangling Kargis, was severed in half.

Regaining his freedom, Kargis gasped for air and immediately struck Ainbo's upper abdomen with his elbow.

Bang.

The impact echoed.

Ainbo staggered back several steps from the blow.

However, the look he gave Kargis remained fierce and wild.

Kargis took the opportunity to quickly distance himself. He ignored the now armless Einbo, and turned his attention toward Moses.

He saw that the other party had no intention of pressing the attack and was still standing there, calmly speaking on the phone.

Seeing this scene, Kargis's face darkened, and in that brief moment, he felt an overwhelming sense of suffocation, as though he couldn't catch his breath.

Not only physically, but mentally as well...

Moses gazed at Kargis calmly.

In his vision, he could see black tendrils rapidly growing and spreading from the wound on Kargis's chest.

It seemed that...

It was Kargis's emotional turmoil that had accelerated the growth of the black tendrils.

At this rate, there was no need for Moses to land another blow on Kargis...

Judging by the speed of the tendrils' growth, in about three minutes, maybe even just two, a single eye would sprout from the spreading infection.

'But…'

Moses narrowed his eyes slightly.

'Judging from the previous exchanges, it was clear that this guy is like an assassin. He's skilled in using Zetsu to hide his presence and wait for the right moment to strike.'

'In other words…'

'If pushed too hard, this guy might panic and try to flee, and then accidentally remove the Kyoka Suigetsu.'

Moses quickly weighed his options, and then glanced at the now-useless Ainbo.

'Let's just kill that one first, then... let's test his speed.'

Moses shifted his gaze back to Kargis, a smile slowly appearing on his face.

Kargis's heart sank when he saw this.

He suddenly understood the source of this suffocating feeling.

In front of this man...

From the moment he revealed himself, he had already become his prey.

And now, he had unknowingly stepped into the trap laid out by the other party...
