Chapter 24: The Sanqing reunion, the sword is on the verge of breaking out!
When Houtu learned that the Heavenly Lord had chosen the enigmatic and mighty statue on Mount Buzhou as his teacher, she was immediately surprised. Only now did she understand why the Heavenly Lord was absent during Hongjun’s second preaching at the Purple Heaven Palace. He had already pledged allegiance to someone else as his mentor. Moreover, this mentor was a mysterious and incredibly powerful figure!
“Heavenly Lord, do you know the name of my master?” Heavenly Lord was curious upon seeing Houtu’s surprised expression.
After collecting her thoughts, Houtu earnestly replied to the Heavenly Lord’s question, “Since the dawn of creation, the Twelve Ancestral Witches in our clan have known of the reclusive powerful figure residing on Mount Buzhou.”
“For countless years, our Twelve Ancestral Witches have attempted to visit this figure several times but with no success. In time, my brother Emperor Jiang, the Ancestral Witch, established a rule within the Wu Clan that forbade anyone from ascending Mount Buzhou to disturb the secluded cultivation of this mysterious figure.”
Houtu’s spirit then wandered into contemplation, filled with curiosity and reverence for this enigmatic being. It was the Wu Clan’s respect and awe for this powerful entity. Apart from their reverence for Pangu, the Wu Clan largely disrespected heaven and earth and regarded all other beings with disdain.
However, when it came to Ye Xiu, the Wu Clan had nothing but reverence. Heavenly Lord felt a bit disappointed initially. He had hoped that Houtu would reveal more about Ye Xiu. However, it became apparent that the world’s knowledge of Ye Xiu was limited and incomplete.
This made Heavenly Lord even more curious about Ye Xiu’s true identity. It felt like having a treasure map without knowing the precise location of the treasure, which left him itching with curiosity.
Heavenly Lord suggested, “Fellow Taoist Houtu, my master’s mastery of the Dao is profound, and he is on par with Saint Hongjun. You can seek guidance from my master.”
Houtu, however, shook her head and sighed, “I have contemplated seeking out that mighty figure, but the Dao Ancestor Hongjun told me that if it’s a path he doesn’t possess, then that figure on Mount Buzhou wouldn’t have it either.”
These words carried a tinge of disappointment. Upon hearing them, the Heavenly Lord’s expression turned displeased. He asked, “Did Saint Hongjun truly say such a thing?”
Houtu nodded and replied, “Why would I deceive you? These were the words of the Dao Ancestor Hongjun himself.”
Heavenly Lord, displeased with this revelation, exclaimed, “Nonsense! My master’s mastery of the Dao is unparalleled, transcending the primordial chaos itself. Old Hongjun cannot casually dismiss his judgment.”
A thunderous boom followed this statement. The heavens displayed a terrifying spectacle in response. Such words were a grave disrespect to the saint, who stood above all and could not be profaned. At that time, within the Purple Heaven Palace, Hongjun suddenly widened his eyes, and his cold gaze penetrated the endless chaos, traversing countless multiverses to lock onto the Heavenly Lord. There was visible anger on his face.
But before Hongjun could react, a thunderous and resounding voice echoed from the heavens: “Third brother, cease your disrespect towards the Ancestor of the Tao and apologize immediately!”
These words were followed by the arrival of Laozi and Yuanshi, who appeared with a dazzling divine radiance, exuding an extraordinary aura that hinted at their imminent entry into the quasi-saint realm. However, their attempt to impress the Heavenly Lord was met with indifference.
For the Heavenly Lord, who had mastered the path of the sword and possessed an array of divine swords within him, along with the power of multiple universes and an abundance of combat experience, he couldn’t be easily intimidated by two cultivators who hadn’t yet reached the quasi-saint level.
Instead, Laozi and Yuanshi found themselves slightly taken aback, unable to gauge the Heavenly Lord’s current cultivation despite having not seen him for thousands of years. They secretly wondered if the Heavenly Lord had become exceptionally powerful.
Laozi soon realized that the Heavenly Lord might have learned a method to conceal his true power, making it impossible for them to discern his cultivation.
Yuanshi chimed in, ridiculing the Heavenly Lord for his alleged deviation and for not focusing on orthodox Taoism but instead delving into alternative paths. He implied that it must be the influence of the misleading disciple on Mount Buzhou. They urged the Heavenly Lord to admit his mistake to Saint Hongjun and attend the sermon at Purple Heaven Palace after a thousand years.
Both Laozi and Yuanshi had concluded that the Heavenly Lord’s cultivation couldn’t surpass their own, and the only explanation was that he had practiced a method to conceal his true strength. In response, the Heavenly Lord snorted in disdain, harboring an unnamed anger.
