Chapter 366: On The Western Shore
After a bit of convincing, Master Riyald eventually decided to join William on his trip to the Dragon Continent. William still didn't explain clearly how he was going to help Riyald Ascend, but the old man could tell at a glance that William's intentions were good.
It wouldn't hurt to trust his young Disciple every once in a while, would it?
While William and Riyald rode on the Flame Dragon's back across the ocean to the Northwest of the Azures Continent, William expended most of his Cultivation Base to break through to the fourth stage of the Nascent Soul Realm.
Each breakthrough cost 250 thousand Spirit Qi more than the last, making William realize why the last few stages of Cultivation took such a long time to reach. If the Nascent Soul Realm already cost millions of Spirit Qi, he didn't want to see the Tribulation Transcendence Realm.
It took roughly three weeks for Flame Dragon Uri to reach the edges of the Dragon Continent while William Cultivated to recover some of his lost Cultivation Base, mostly because William asked him to reduce his speed when passing over a thousand-kilometer-wide sphere of a royal blue color.
When inspecting more closely, William realized it was actually the Superior Water Vein, surrounded by five equidistant Greater Veins that had their own protective formations made up of the lower level Veins.
They can be in the ocean too? Or is it just the Water Element?
-Just the Water Element.
William heaved a sigh of relief. If he had to map out the entire ocean as well, he was afraid it would take much longer than ten years to reach some of these locations; especially if there were Veins hidden in tiny crevices or deep ravines that were hundreds of kilometers past the limits of William's Vision and Navigation Talents.
After crossing the massive Water Vein, William returned to his Cultivation, reaching just over two million Spirit Qi by the time he saw the shores of the Dragon Continent.
"Are there any weird obstacles this time? No immortal dragon's fire or anything like that?" William asked the Flame Dragon.
"Not that I'm aware of, Master. I was able to cross the entire Continent unimpeded."
Well, you're a dragon, you might be special. But William didn't say anything out loud. He looked at Riyald, who shook his head.
"I also don't remember any traps like that on Dragons' Veil."
"Dragons' Veil?" William repeated back to Riyald.
"Just a nickname I made for their Continent. Nothing important." Riyald shrugged his shoulders.
William nodded and jumped off Uri's back before he could land, opening his Navigation Talent and Life Sense immediately to scan the area for any sign of dragons. At a glance, the Dragon Continent looked more like a jungle than it did a rocky cove or mountain fit for the World's peak Magical Beast.
Thousands of presences appeared in William's vision right away, but none of them emitted the usual aura of a dragon. Instead, they came from a series of small towns just twenty kilometers north of the Western shore.
He could also see a few random species of Magical Beast, from fierce looking lizardmen wearing orange loincloths to vibrantly colorful snakes of red, green and yellow. There were also green and blue blobs of liquid moving through the trees, registering as Elevated Slimes in William's Bestiary. Read the latest on empire
Huh, there are even slimes in this World? Where did they come from, and how do they live?
-Request requires ten Potential Points. Yes/No?
It's so cheap, why not. William thought as he accepted the System's request.
-The Elevated Slimes and other species are a unique Magical Beast that were created by Ascended Cultivators long ago. Their mastery of the Life and other Elements allowed a group of Cultivators to successfully establish brand-new races that subconsciously share information and accept orders from above.
Someone created new life in this World? And with the Life Element? Does that mean I can do it too?
-Your level is too low. Perhaps in the future.
William sighed. It was expected, but he couldn't help but be interested in what was to come. Instead of relying on the purchase and hatching process of the Companion Beast Shop, William could create his own beings.
The Companion Beast Shop is pretty cheap, though. And I don't know how I would ensure that the thing I make will be of the proper Rarity. For all I know, I could make a hundred Common Beasts before I come up with a single Rare or Epic.
William decided to push these thoughts to a later date. For now, it was better to remain vigilant and focus on mapping out the Continent. He scanned the Western shoreline first, his hands scribbling at insane speed as he drew a rough outline of the Western portion of the Dragon Continent.
The Navigation Talent made this task incredibly simple, but William still had a lot of trouble adding the small details to the map. As long as it made sense to him, though, that was fine.
Riyald entered one of the human towns to chat with the local residents while William was mapping. Just like Uri, the old man was surprised to see that there really wasn't any presence of dragons nearby, not a single one.
Another three days passed before William completed the initial work, having surprisingly already located both the Superior Plant and Wind Cores on separate ends of the shore and hidden almost two hundred kilometers underground.
William was thankful for the Mana Mode of his Vision Talent, because the S-Rank Navigation couldn't even see that far underground. Regardless, it was better to rely on the Mana Vision, since the Illusion Vein and others would probably be incredibly difficult to find otherwise.
-Your Order Fruits have grown
-Your Seal Fruits have grown
Has it been a month already? Damn... William thought as he entered the mental space to check on the Element Farms.
Sure enough, a silver and black-gold tree next to each other were each bearing their respective fruits, though the Seal Tree seemed to only have five fruits grown rather than the usual twenty-five. It surprised William to see that the difference between D and C-Rank was so vast, but it made him excited for when the Element Farms could reach S-Rank one day.
Would all the fruits grow at the same time then?
I wish I had enough Points to upgrade the Seal Element Farm right away, but I'll just have to make do with five fruits for now. William thought as he traveled to his warehouse and entered the spacious room.
Since his Seal Element was already X-Rank, William knew he had the ability to consume the freshly grown Fruits this time. He picked up a black-gold apple and shoved it into his mouth directly, hoping there wouldn't be any surprise consequences to his sudden action.
His throat felt warm as the Seal Fruit traveled towards his stomach, a unique sensation filling his mind in the process. A few thoughts entered William's brain related to the Seal Element, including small details that he had missed in the past.
Brand new never before seen Spells were comprehended in an instant, while the Seal Element in William's body felt slightly stronger than before. His current self-suppression was around eighty-five percent, but he felt like only eighty-four percent would be needed to maintain the same level of suppression.
