It’s not that kind of malicious broadcast

Chapter 40

Chapter 40 – Rogues Are Better

What kind of content should I broadcast, and how should I go about it?

For someone like me, who hasn’t spent much time pondering these questions, it’s a tough problem to crack. The first broadcast was a moderate success thanks to Ark’s patience. But that wasn’t due to my capabilities, nor is it sustainable.

I can’t just go around sniping other broadcasters without prior coordination. Regularly sniping other broadcasters might draw attention, but it would likely generate more displeasure than curiosity about rogues among viewers.

Such displeasure and anger can spread like wildfire. Negative feelings towards me could easily transfer to rogue players, and ultimately, to the rogue class itself.

Participating as a viewer and actively sniping as a broadcaster are inherently different in terms of risk.

…Still, sniping Dodat could be seen as a legitimate consumer right. Yes, it certainly would be. For the number of times he betrayed rogues… let’s say up to 11 times.

Even a judge might nod in agreement. I added Dodat sniping to my mental list of ‘justifiable actions’. But Dodat has long ended his broadcast—and I don’t want to delay my broadcast until he starts again.

How many days has it been without rogue streams now?

For today, at least…

Let’s show some serious rogue gameplay in ranked matches. A broadcast with skillful play and meaningful interaction with viewers is needed.

With the new and old computers each handling gaming and streaming separately, I now have a stable environment that allows for high-quality streams focused on the game screen.

『CravingWarmAmericano is live!』

『Rogue Revival Movement – Rogues Are The Best』

***

『Author: ㅇㅇ』

『Title: Oh, GetDevoured broadcast ON』

『But when will she change her ID from CravingWarmAmericano

Everyone calls her GetDevoured anyway』

-I can’t watch her streams; they make me dizzy

-Seems like she’s on a proper computer today?

-Really?

After starting the broadcast and displaying the desktop, I spent about 5 minutes browsing the forum.

In that short time, around 50 viewers had joined and were actively chatting.

『Where’s the cam』

『Oh, the screen looks normal』

『Cam where』

『Chest where』

『What’s this broadcast about』

『What’s the Rogue Revival Movement』

Alright, it seems like a good time to officially start the broadcast.

-Tap Tap.

The microphone, which I had debated buying for quite some time, now stood proudly on the desk.

Even though I still believed that showing off the rogue’s coolness didn’t require a microphone, I conceded that being a broadcaster and interacting with fellow broadcasters might necessitate one.

From the previous broadcast, I realized that interacting with viewers was more enjoyable than I had expected. So, deciding to use the newly purchased mic right after unboxing was a good decision, I thought to myself.

Confirming that the microphone was working correctly, I noticed that the total number of viewers had grown to over 100.

Although it was far short of the 1,600 viewers from the first broadcast, it was still an impressive number for a broadcast started at 4 AM without any special promo.

“Testing, testing. Hello everyone.”

Looking at the chat where various greetings such as ‘Who are you?’, ‘Nice to meet you’, and ‘Hello’ were popping up, I felt a sense of calm.

Compared to the chaotic chat of last week, it felt serene, almost peaceful. I could read each message calmly, one by one.

『Turn on the cam』

『Aren’t you doing phone broadcast?』

『Was that tattoo on your arm real?』

『Sniping today too?』

『Turn on the cam if you don’t want to die』

Finding that having fewer viewers also had its own charm, I clicked on the KoK client.

“Today, I’ll be playing KoK.”

『Are you reading the chat?』

『Turn on the cam, attempt 2』

『Where’s the cam』

『Your voice is amazing』

『Are you a voice actor?』

The chat was flooded with various questions.

“So, I’ll be lowering the chat window for now since I need to focus on the game.”

『??』

『?』

『???』

『Oh, this jerk again』

『Is she in a tournament alone or what』

I hoped that everyone would soon start to enjoy rogues again, just as before.

The chat during the last broadcast was truly beautiful.

***

Ah.

Did we just lose…?

『Cocoa (Mage): Let’s just surrender』

『MingMing (Priest): Ah』

『MingMing (Priest): Please delete rogues』

『Cocoa (Mage): Blaming the rogue now?』

『Cocoa (Mage): Do you have amnesia or something』

『Cocoa (Mage): Priests always forget they played like garbage』

『BlessPaladin (Holy Knight): Mage-duo with rogue?』

『BlessPaladin (Holy Knight): MingKyung, just turn off chat please』

= Defeat =

…We lost this.

Despite managing to take down guards and repeatedly cutting off the mage, it’s rare but not impossible to lose like this.

If my team rushed into danger faster than I can eliminate the enemies, victory becomes unattainable.

It’s obvious. No point in blaming passing teammates.

『GetDevoured (Rogue): GG.』

Winning the first game would have been better, but… winning and losing are all part of the game, right?

What matters isn’t the win or loss.

“Hmm… the rogue did well, right?”

『Where’s your conscience?』

『Rogue is innocent』

『Turn on the cam, attempt 12』

『Both the priest and holy knight are disgusting』

『Duo needs to be removed, seriously』

『Turn on at least a hand cam』

『When will you turn on the cam』

The chat exploded with messages.

Within a single game, word of mouth seemed to spread, and the number of viewers had increased to 150.

Viewers who came in like migratory birds, seeking something interesting. During the time between games, if they felt even a moment of disengagement, they would quickly leave. Although this was only my second day streaming, I hadn’t exactly been a stranger to watching streams.

To keep these viewers engaged… interaction was key. And, when interacting with viewers, it was crucial to read their chats, making them feel like they were naturally conversing with the broadcaster.

Having watched countless streams, I knew this well.

“Rogues are innocent… Yes, exactly. Rogues are always innocent.”

『Turn on the cam』

『No one is here to see rogues』

『What’s your current tier?』

『You play rogue well』

『Your voice is amazing』

“You play rogue well… No, it’s not that I’m good; it’s that rogues are great. Let’s move on to the next game.”

『Is my chat even showing up?』

『Filtering the chat heavily』

『If the word rogue isn’t in it, the chat gets ignored』

『Turn on the cam, attempt 13』

『Are they doing this on purpose?』

“If the word rogue isn’t in it, it gets ignored… That’s not true. I’m reading all the chats.”

Maybe thanks to my skillful interaction. The number of viewers slightly increased, and the screen had already transitioned to the character selection screen.

『GetDevoured: I’ll go underground rogue』

I quickly typed the familiar line and, faster than anyone else, selected rogue on the character screen.

『KoroKoro: Ah』

『KoroKoro: If I go Warrior』

『KoroKoro: Damn, they just locked in their pick』

『ShutUpAndPlay: Ah damn』

『GetDevoured: Let’s go underground together』

『ShutUpAndPlay: Seriously damn』

『ShutUpAndPlay: Why did I queue at this hour』

『ShutUpAndPlay: Only crazies are out』

『KoroKoro: Someone please dodge』

Why do people dislike having two characters going underground so much?

In a world where everyone has one eye, those with two eyes are considered abnormal—this saying has never resonated more with me.

And once again, disappointment in Dodat swelled within my heart.

If he’s going to grovel and tiptoe around wanting to play rogue, it’s better not to do it at all.

A man should have some backbone and determination, like me.

More importantly, what would viewers think seeing that kind of behavior?

They might think it’s okay to harshly criticize anyone who picks rogue, and any rogue who receives such criticism should meekly concede and change their role.

It creates the worst possible image. It’s like propaganda from the Rogue-Hate Association.

『InsideOut: He’s always like that』

『InsideOut: Let’s just adjust the picks』

『InsideOut: He still plays properly in-game』

Once the picks are made, everything settles nicely.

I really don’t understand it.

『Is this intentional trolling on broadcast』

『Threatening 2 underground picks like it’s nothing』

『Did you set up a macro for this?』

『1: I’ll go underground rogue 2: Let’s go underground together』

See, see. Even now, there are so many people with these incorrect prejudices.

But, when I think about how I can change the chat’s attitude, it excites me a little.

As the game transitioned to the loading screen, I was about to close the chat window when I saw:

『Huh?』

『Isn’t Revanovski the second account of Revan LOL』

『CrazyCrazy』

『Is Revan streaming?』

『Revan is in the match LOL』

『Underground is doomed~』

『The ‘Great’ in The Great Fall of the House of Usher』

The chat’s tone rapidly shifted.

…Revanovski?

I checked the character names on the loading screen.

Hovering above the unsightly warrior, whose face was scrunched up even more unattractively, was the name ‘Revanovski.’

Oh… Revan. The name faintly rang a bell. An amateur challenger player frequently mentioned in the KoK Forum.

I vaguely remembered them arguing over who was the top amateur challenger, leaving hundreds of replies. Out of curiosity, I had asked both sides, ‘Is it really that impressive?’

Anyway.

Most in the quickly scrolling chat were already predicting our loss. Challenger alt account, warrior, dual-axe berserk build creator… various keywords repeated themselves.

So what?

A warrior is still just a warrior. Seeing no mention of my rogue build in the chat irked me slightly.

“Rogues are better.”

No one seemed to agree yet, but well. I’ll just have to show them.

TL’s Corner:

Where’s the cam?
