Journeying Through the Multiverse

Chapter 2: Wishes

Have you ever wondered where you go after death? I haven't. I've never worried about it. After all, if I'm alive and well now, why waste my time thinking about it?

Some religions say that if you do something terrible, you go to hell. Others, like Islam, speak of repentance in Jahannam. Hindus believe in karma and returning as something less glamorous. And spiritism? A spirit wandering, tormented by its own poor choices. All very creative, but it sounds like excuses for people who are afraid to face their mistakes.

I've always believed in cause and effect. If someone dies or survives, there's a reason. Not because some divine being "planned" something. The idea of God deciding who lives or dies has always seemed like an insult to human effort. And where's the gratitude for doctors? For those who dedicate their lives to saving others? Instead, people prefer to credit faith.

But I think I've strayed too far. You must be curious about why I brought all this up. Let me give you a spoiler: this idea that the wicked are punished and the good receive eternal rewards is complete nonsense.

Why do I say this? Well, look at me. I'm in my room, standing in front of the mirror, admiring my beautiful 10-year-old face. That's right, 10 years old. It's been a decade since I reincarnated in this world.

Imagine the look on the faces of fanatical religious people when they find out that I, a twisted human being who supposedly would have a VIP ticket to the worst of hells, am living a life far better than theirs. Ah, the universe has a fantastic sense of humor.

Now, about my appearance... I'm 1.55 meters tall. For my age, I'm practically a giant, right? My hair is black, slightly messy, with a shine that reflects my noble origins.

My eyes, oh, those are truly special: silver, with vertical pupils like a dragon's. Cold, analytical, with a predatory and hypnotizing aura. They seem to see beyond appearances, probing the soul of anyone daring to meet my gaze. And women? Well, I'm sure they'd be enchanted, maybe even captivated, by my look.

Now, it's just a matter of figuring out if it's fear or desire... or maybe both at the same time. After all, with these dragon eyes and my impeccable appearance, even I would have doubts!

My skin is fair, almost pale, with a tone that catches attention and sparks envy. It suits me, don't you think? It adds that mysterious and distinguished aura. My body, though slender, already shows signs of disciplined training. Light, but well-defined muscles complement my firm and confident posture.

Curious about the size of little Ethan? You bunch of degenerate perverts… I'll leave that as a surprise. That's too personal, and I'm shy...

My clothes? Elegant yet practical. Dark fabrics with red and gold accents, designed to reflect the sobriety and authority of my lineage. Comfortable, but always exuding an air of sophistication.

See? I'm a real stud. Watch out, married women, because the homewrecker is here to show who's boss around here.

HEHEHEHE

Jokes aside, I bet you're curious to know how all this came to be, right? How I reincarnated? Well, you probably have an idea, but even so, I'll tell you exactly how it all happened...

Flashback

[Welcome. This is the void, where you have spent millions of years adrift. Allow me to introduce: I am the 'system of Eternity'. It is a pleasure to meet you, O chosen one.]

Great. Looks like I just got into some pretty big shit, huh?

This whole mess reminds me of those fanfics written by authors with not a shred of originality or creativity.

"Eternity System, huh... What exactly are you? And don't come at me with that 'Oh, chosen one' nonsense—I don't have protagonist syndrome."

[...]

[Pleasure to meet you, Ethan. I am the 'System of Eternity.' I am the personification of everything, basically. Reality itself, and everything that emerges from it, began with me.]

"What kind of nonsense is this? It sounds like it came straight out of a generic, unoriginal fanfic! And what does a majestic, all-encompassing being like you want with me? I don't think I'm important enough to attract the attention of an entity like you. This all seems like a load of garbage..."

[You seem quite indifferent to the situation… You completely ignored the fact that I mentioned you've been in the void for millions of years, which, to begin with, is the reason for my interest in talking to you. And this 'nonsense' that you say feels like it came out of a fanfic is just me using a form I thought would work best for you.]

"Oh! Makes sense, but I'd still prefer a sexy MILF with a dog collar around her neck..."

WHAT?!! I'm a proud pervert; I don't mind saying it out loud, even if it's to the most powerful entity in existence, especially since she probably already knows, so why hide it and pretend?

[I figured you'd say that… You really are something else; no one else would dare say that to my face, even more so knowing I'm a woman.]

"...."

In situations like this, it's better to stay quiet. But how could I have imagined that a being of this caliber would have a gender?!! I thought that would be beneath her...

[Let's set that aside for now. First, let's discuss why I'm here. As I mentioned before, you spent millions of years in the void, something that would be impossible for a mortal. Your very existence should have been erased. But your soul, instead, spent all that time floating and wandering, being destroyed and reformed countless times, which made it strong enough to carry a small fragment of the essence of the void.]

[However, your presence here wasn't planned or intentional. In fact, it was the result of an error by a higher force. Your soul was classified as an anomaly, something that shouldn't exist within the universe's rules. To these higher forces, you were an irregularity that needed to be eliminated. So, as a solution, they cast your soul into the void—a place where any existence should be completely erased.]

[But what they didn't expect was that your soul would be different. Twisted, adaptable, chaotic. Instead of being destroyed like any other mortal, you survived. The void tried to erase you but failed. Instead, it shaped your essence, destroying and recreating your soul so many times that you became... something more. Strong enough not only to exist within the void but to absorb part of its primordial essence.]

[And that's why I'm here, Ethan. Because you, against all odds, survived and became a true anomaly. Something even the gods cannot ignore.]

Now it makes sense why that unbearable pain, which seemed never-ending, was tormenting me. It was my soul trying to stay alive in this void. Hehe, I feel like a protagonist. Will I get a power boost if I grab some boobs?

"That really sounds like a crappy fanfic cliché... So what do you mean by 'carrying the essence of the void'? And how has my existence not been erased if it's impossible for a mortal to survive here?"

[The essence of the void is something that no one, not even the gods, can control. It destroys everything linear, logical, and orderly. But you, Ethan... your chaotic mind, your twisted soul, was the only 'mold' compatible enough to withstand something as unstructured as the essence of the void.]

[You shouldn't be alive, Ethan. Any mortal who entered the void would have their existence erased without a trace. But you... you are different. Your soul touched the primordial essence—the very same essence that gave birth to everything. In other words, you were shaped by what I am. Now, you carry the essence of the void, something that transcends the laws of reality—something even the gods fear. You are no longer a mere mortal, Ethan. You are... part of me.]

"HAHAHA, if I'm the protagonist of a fanfic, the author is definitely lazy. This all feels like one big cliché."

[...]

"So, should I call you mommy? Just to be clear, I killed both of the mothers I had when I was alive. Anyway, what's going to happen to me now? And what exactly do I get from this so-called essence of the void?"

[Mommy? Hmph, how bold... but, on second thought, it wouldn't be entirely wrong. After all, your survival and this new 'you' exist thanks to me. So, if it makes you feel better, you can call me mommy... But your sense of humor is, to say the least, peculiar.]

[Ah, Ethan, it's simple: power. But not just any power. This essence of the void that now resides in you makes you an anomaly—something that transcends. Your soul can adapt, grow stronger, and evolve to the point of breaking limits that even gods cannot surpass.]

[Moreover, you now possess absolute talent and unique compatibility with any energy or force in reality. This means you can shape, manipulate, and even surpass what was once deemed impossible.]

[That's exactly why you're still alive. And it's also why, one day, even the most powerful entities—those who believe themselves to be at the pinnacle of creation—will tremble before you. But for now, you're just a child... a child with terrifying and infinite potential. Amusing, isn't it?]

[Oh, and since you brought up your mothers... I hope that murderous tendency doesn't extend to me. After all, it would be a shame to lose my favorite creation so soon.]

So, I went from being just a regular person, with a life that was anything but ordinary... and now, look where I've ended up: chatting with an all-powerful entity that wants to be called mommy. The universe truly has a peculiar sense of humor.

"HAHAHAHA, I'd never dare do something like that, I know my limits well. But let me warn you: as long as you don't do anything that harms me directly or indirectly, and remain a hot MILF, you can be sure my murderous tendencies will stay far away from you, mommy."

After all, who wouldn't want an all-powerful and gorgeous mommy?

[I am an entity that transcends your comprehension, Ethan. But to interact with you, I chose something your mind could process. My form, my language... all of it was shaped based on what you know. After all, what would be the point of presenting myself as something incomprehensible to you?]

"But you still haven't answered: what's going to happen to me now?"

[What's going to happen to you now? Oh, Ethan, so many possibilities... but I'll simplify it so your human brain can process it. You'll be cast back into existence, but in a new world—a world where you can test the limits of this essence you now carry. Consider it a rebirth... or, if you prefer, an upgrade.]

[Of course, I'm not going to hand you all the answers on a silver platter. After all, what's the fun in discovering the potential of the void without a little suffering, right? But I'll give you a hint: the universe I've chosen isn't just any place. It's unpredictable and... fun. Everything you love, right?]

That, however, is only making me even more interested...

"Wait a second!! You're not going to give me anything? No farewell gift? Where's your love as a mother for your dear and beloved son?!"

[Hmph... What a bold and greedy son I've ended up with. Fine, since you insist, I'll grant you four wishes. Choose wisely, my 'dear and beloved son.']

HEHEHE, I've basically scored a SUGAR MOMMY with cosmic powers. I mean, just imagine: a cosmic entity capable of destroying universes… but also giving me absurd powers and turning me into something even gods fear. It's not every day you get a multiversal sponsor, is it?

Hmm, this will require a lot of brainpower… but first, I want to ask a question.

The essence of the void, as you said, allows my soul to adapt, strengthen, and grow, right? So, would that apply to my body as well?

[Exactly, Ethan. The essence of the void isn't limited to your soul, though that is the starting point. Your soul is the foundation that supports everything, and your body is merely an extension of that strength. Over time, your body will also be shaped by the essence, becoming capable of adapting, strengthening, and growing just like your soul.]

[Your current body is not the same as in your past life. It has been recreated by the essence of the void, molded to endure what's to come. Think of it as an unfinished work of art... that will only be completed as you evolve.]

[This means that with every challenge you face, your body won't just survive—it will evolve. Poisoning? Your system will become immune. Deep cuts? Your tissue will regenerate faster. A battle that should kill you? Your body will learn from it, becoming more resilient, stronger, and more efficient. In short, the essence of the void will ensure that your existence—both physical and spiritual—is in constant evolution, transcending natural limits.]

[But remember: this also means you'll need to constantly push your own boundaries to grow. Stagnation is the only true enemy of the essence of the void.]

"Got it. My first wish: I want a Gacha system. A system where I can randomly obtain skills, items, and servants from any reality—be it anime, manga, novels, movies, series, or cartoons. I want it to allow me one free spin per day and to let me accumulate those spins, increasing the chances of getting something of greater value.

For example, if I spin once, I could get something of a lower tier but with a small chance to obtain a medium-tier item. However, if I save spins for a week or more, the percentage of getting a medium- or high-tier item increases significantly. Additionally, I want an interface to view my status and, of course, a customizable personal assistant to help me manage everything."

[Another system? I thought I was enough for you… Are you trying to make me jealous?]

"WHAT? NO!! I just thought you'd grant me these wishes and let me go off on my own, without you tagging along..."

[Hmph… So you thought I, the entity that gave birth to all existence, would simply leave you to your own devices? How naïve.]

[You can have your Gacha system or whatever else you wish. But don't worry, I won't follow you around like a clingy shadow. That would be far beneath me. I'll only appear when it's truly necessary… or, of course, when you do something so incredibly stupid that I have to step in to stop you from getting yourself killed.]

[Even so, remember: you'll never truly be alone. After all, you're my 'child,' aren't you? And I take care of what's mine… even if you don't realize it. Now, let's wrap up this matter and move on to your next wish. Let's see how far your boldness goes.]

"Truly, the best mom EVER... After all, with credentials like yours, it's hard to imagine any other mom topping you. Just don't ground me when I start pulling off my crazy antics, deal?"

"My second wish is simple: I want relative immortality, one that evolves with me. The stronger I become, the stronger my immortality will also grow. I want it to adapt to my growth, making my body and soul increasingly difficult to destroy, until, one day, I become practically impossible to kill."

This wish, combined with the essence of the void, is perfect. Imagine: if I'm burned by a magical fire explosion, the essence of the void helps me adapt, making my skin resistant or even capable of absorbing heat. And with relative immortality, even if I'm destroyed, I come back stronger and immune to the same attack. Each death becomes just another step in my evolution. It's like turning every attempt to eliminate me into a free upgrade.

[Hmph... Relative immortality, huh? Ambitious, as always. But I must admit, it's a wish well-aligned with the essence of the void you carry. It makes sense to want something that complements your potential.]

[However, let me clarify: even with this evolutionary immortality, you will still feel pain. You can still be temporarily destroyed. Your survival and growth will depend on how willing you are to face death, over and over again, and to learn from it. After all, evolution doesn't come without sacrifices.]

[That said, wish granted. Now, you carry something that even gods would hesitate to face directly.]

"My third wish: I want the ability to travel through the multiverse, including all existing fiction."

[Ah, traveling through the multiverse... An ambitious wish full of potential. But, as with everything, this comes with rules, my 'child.' Let me explain how it will work:]

[1. To access a new world, you'll need to complete a global mission or fulfill a significant objective in that world. These missions will be assigned based on the challenges and opportunities the world presents.]

[2. Once you leave a world, it will be frozen at the exact moment you left. Nothing will change, nothing will progress. When you return, it will be as if you never left.]

[3. After completing a mission in a world, you'll gain the ability to travel freely between that world and others you've already "unlocked." Think of it like unlocking stages in a game — but remember, you can't skip the missions; they are mandatory for advancement.]

[With that clarified, your wish is granted.]

"Fair enough. For my last wish… Well, it's a bit embarrassing, but when I was alive, in my spare time, I played a game called Eternal Nexus. It was a virtual reality game, much like YGGDRASIL from that anime Overlord, but far more expansive. Instead of just nine worlds, it was a true multiverse, where you could create races, unique characters, or even recreate characters from anime.

I had some truly impressive accounts there. Each one was an absolute monster, equipped with abilities and powers so absurd they could destroy entire worlds with little effort. So... for my last wish, I want all those accounts to be transferred to me here, in this new world. Everything I created—races, abilities, equipment, perks, or anything else—perfectly adapted to this current reality. After all, why start from scratch when I was practically a god in my pastime?"

[Quite interesting, but as always, it won't be that simple, Ethan. Let's establish a few rules for this. First, you'll only start unlocking these characters on your 15th birthday. On that day, the first character will be unlocked for free. After that, the others will be progressively unlocked as you advance.]

[These characters won't be independent bodies where you can transfer your consciousness but rather avatars, parts of yourself. Think of them as alter egos. When you transform into one of them, you'll gain all the abilities, equipment, and unique characteristics of the character, but you'll also embody part of their personality. Be careful with this, as it can affect how you act and think.]

[Now, here's the most important point: when transforming into an avatar, you'll have access only to the powers and abilities of that character. For example, if the character specializes in magic, you won't be able to use physical skills or equipment from another avatar. The only exception is the abilities or traits that belong directly to your soul, such as those provided by the essence of the void.]

[And when you return to your main body, you'll lose access to the abilities, equipment, and traits of the avatar you were using. It's important to choose the right avatar for each situation.]

[Now, here's a tip: you can freely switch between avatars, but I wouldn't recommend doing it in the middle of a fight unless you're certain you can survive and have enough time to complete the transformation.]

[Oh, and about their powers... you'll have full access to everything they possess for an unlimited duration, even if those powers are absurdly strong for the world you're in at the time. Just be careful, Ethan. Don't destroy your toys—or rather, the world you're in.]

"Well, I think that's fair. Otherwise, it would be total chaos, possibly creating multiple personalities within me with so many different egos coexisting at once. Even with my adaptability, I believe I'd suffer quite a bit, especially considering these characters are, at minimum, universal-level."

[Good to see you understand, my child. I admit, your consciousness would be an absolute mess with so many universal egos competing within you.]

"Now that my wishes have been made... the big question: which world am I going to? What world has my dear mother chosen for me? I hope it's something exciting, full of challenges... or are you going to send me somewhere boring just to test me, mommy?"

[That will be a surprise; you'll find out when you arrive.]

Now all that's left is for her to bring me cookies and wish me good luck as I become the greatest rule-breaker in the multiverse. If that's not every protagonist's dream, then I truly don't know what is.

End of flashback.

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know this chapter was pretty slow, but I did it on purpose. I wanted you to understand how I think and take the opportunity to get to know the wishes I've defined better.

I'm aware there might be mistakes here and there, but remember: this is my first work. Feel free to criticize; I don't mind. I'm open to hearing feedback and learning from it, even if I'm writing this fanfic just out of boredom.

I also want to make something clear: my character is completely twisted. He might think one thing and end up doing another. He might love and grow attached to someone, only to decide in the next moment to destroy that person's life just because he feels like it. At the same time, he might randomly decide to play the knight in shining armor and save the day. He's unpredictable, chaotic, and, above all, follows only his own whims.

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
