Chapter 26: The Ghost Vs the Outcast I
"Fucking hell. What's with all the noise here. Can't a man have a second of peace to himself?"
The man walked out scratching his hair as he cursed in annoyance. The moment he appeared, every single person on the floor paused their actions. It was as if time itself had stopped and he was the only one moving. The deafening silence was rather loud to Sasuke, as his gaze trailed the man's body, tracking every single movement he executed. He was one of the most dangerous characters in the Jujutsu world, who had nearly killed Gojo Satoru, hence even he had to be careful when dealing with such a person.
"Don't look at me like that. Pervert. I hate it."
The man on the other hand placed his hand in his pocket, closed his eyes and took a swig of his beer, before pointing the bottle towards Sasuke in annoyance without even turning to look at him.
Sasuke merely continued observing him but made no move to attack.
"You must be the reason why these fuckers can't shut up today. And what's with that outfit?"
The man, Toji Fushiguro nonchalantly turned towards Sasuke, sized him up and then took his gaze off in disinterest.
Sasuke frowned underneath his mask, wondering what Toji's intentions were towards him. He couldn't sense malice or murderous intent towards him from the man, but Toji seemed to be targeting him.
All of these thoughts flashed through his mind the time it took him to blink and in just that split second, Toji seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving behind a wobbling beer bottle on a small table near where he stood.
Any other person would've been unable to react to the next sequence of events, but Sasuke was built different.
It was almost as if his body reacted on instinct and moved instantly. His right hand pushed Mei who seemed frozen in time to the side and then kicked out behind him.
Toji, whose eyes widened in a bit of surprise merely back flipped and distanced himself from Sasuke with a small smile adorning his face.
"Impressive sword. I'm taking it."
Toji who now held Sasuke's Kusanagi in his hands pulled out the blade and examined it, before he spat out a small ball which grew into a purplish worm-like cursed spirit that swallowed Sasuke's blade.
Meanwhile, Sasuke's now active three tomoe Sharingan glared towards Toji solemnly. Had the Sharingan not been activated on time, he probably would not have been able to sense him or react to him at all, even with that, he still was a second late.
Mei on the other hand was still recovering from her initial shock and wondering when and how Toji had managed to creep up on them like that. Had Sasuke not reacted as fast as he did and if she was the one being targeted by Toji alone, it probably would've been game over. After all these years, she was still nothing compared to him.
"What do you want?"
Sasuke asked, his cursed energy circulating on command, as the Sharingan keenly tracked every single move Toji made.
Toji's response to his statement was shattering the sonic barrier, destroying the ground beneath his feet as he blitzed towards Sasuke in a split second with a crazed smile on his face.
His hand clawed towards Sasuke's neck, however the youth flickered, disappearing from where he stood, leaving Toji's claw to rip through his afterimage. Appearing merely several meters behind him, Sasuke quickly unleashed a frightening punch kick combo aiming towards Toji's neck, groin and temple. Each attack precisely followed a split second counter rule, hitting almost instantly after the previous making it almost impossible to defend against.
But..
Toji reacted quickly. He first began blocking Sasuke's attacks with one hand and then switched to both hands, using his overwhelming strength to overpower the youth's attacks.
Blocking a kick aimed right to the face, Toji wanted to counter attack, only to be stunned by a punch to his ribs which merely nicked him and caused him to grunt in annoyance.
Fighting through all of Sasuke's attacks, Toji grabbed his wrist when the youth smashed out his fist and used his overwhelming strength to pull on his arm twirl him like a piece of wood, smash him into the ground and kick him right into a wall.
Rather than him crashing into the wall as Toji expected, Sasuke merely landed on it in a crouched position, as if it were a horizontal surface as his glowing red eyes glared towards the man, while the crowd looked on intensely. The strongest mercenary Vs the second strongest were going at it in real life.
'He's strong. My attacks reach him, but can't do nearly any damage at all.'
After the first bout, Sasuke drew his conclusions, and planned for the next wave of attacks. Toji was strong, too strong physically to the extent where his attacks could reach, yet barely did any damage.
His durability was off the charts. However in terms of speed, they were equal if Sasuke was not slightly faster. In terms of reaction speed, Sasuke couldn't compare because he had no idea how deep Toji's precognition could go compared to the Sharingan.
"Those eyes of yours. They're impressive, but inferior. They're accurate at tracking my movements, but if I can overwhelm them with hundreds of attacks or utilize a bit of spontaneity in my movements, you'd lose."
Toji smirked, and Sasuke frowned deeply underneath his mask. Seeing how easily the man had been able to point out the weakness of his Sharingan made him fear and respect him even more.
"Precognition, and extra sensory perception. It's no wonder you're able to see the flaws in my ability. To think your Heavenly Restriction would be this impressive.."
Sasuke's words caused Toji's eyes to squint, as the crazed smile slowly morphed onto his face once more. He simply reached towards the huge mouth of the curse wrapped around his shoulders and pulled out a long blade with fur wrapped around its guard.
Squinting his eyes, Sasuke also reached for a three pronged kunai from his ninja backpack and readied himself.
Toji took a step forward, about to move when he felt a mental tug on his consciousness. His eyes widened as saucers when he saw Sasuke's Sharingan revolve before him like two massive black holes that instantly pulled his consciousness into another plane of existence.
In about a second, Toji's eyes snapped open only to find himself falling in a warped dimension. The massive sun in the sky had been replaced by a gargantuan three tomoe Sharingan, as he looked around in shock. After about a second, he sensed footsteps walking out to him and when the figure appeared even someone as strong willed as him slumped to the ground in shock....
Watching Toji who had suddenly stilled, Sasuke smiled underneath his mask and blitzed towards him while forming multiple hand seals in the process.
"Katon: Gokakyuu no Jutsu! -- Fire style: Fireball Jutsu!!"
Hurling himself into the air, he puffed up his cheeks and spat out a massive fireball that dropped towards Toji's unmoving figure like a meteor.
However...
The next moment, no one expected the sudden turn of events.
Toji who stood completely immobile for a moment suddenly twictched. Like a robot, his head rotated towards Sasuke mechanically, revealing deep black pupiless and soulless sclera that glared towards him, sending him into shock.
"Impossible!"
Sasuke exclaimed as his eyes widened in shock, but he reacted quickly enough to cross his kunai before his chest to block the incoming attack from Toji's blade.
*BANG!*
The impact sent him crashing into a wall, however he bounced back up immediately and stared down Toji.
'He's still trapped in my genjutsu, but his body is acting on its own? How is this possible?!'
Sasuke questioned inwardly and faced Toji ignoring the crazed smile on the man's face. It seemed like despite the fact that Toji's consciousness was trapped in the mental plane, his body was so trained to the point where it was on some sort of autopilot now.
