Chapter 29: Insurgency II
Zen'in clan Estate..
The massive landscape belonging to the Zen'in clan housed multiple complexes within itself. The dozens of their heirs lived in the most beautiful part of the landscape itself, the middle complexes, within beautiful dojos and mansions that bore rich cultural heritage.
In one of the dojos, a figure sat alone in silence. Haruto Zen'in, a nephew to the next clan head, Naobito Zen'in, wallowed in depression, with the only source of comfort to him was the jug of wine that sat calmly beside him and the lit cigar in between his lips.
"Isamu, you bastard. Why did it have to be you?"
He puffed out a large cloud of smoke and whispered to himself. The death of his brother, Isamu at the hands of that wretched mercenary had deeply lowered him into the abyss of depression.
They were orphans, born to the whores, hence their position within the clan was one of the lowest. Little by little, they fought together, utilizing their talents and skills to rise to the very top of the clan.
"Fool. You didn't even look that good in your coffin....I guess karma did get you in the end. But I swear, Isamu, I'll find him and I'll rip out his hands with my bare hands, even if it's the last thing I do.."
He swore, emptied the remaining half of his drink down his throat and hurled the glass away, sending it crashing into a wall.
"Oi, Daichi!!. Get that bastard Choji right now!"
He plumped back onto his futon and let out a commanding roar, as a figure came rushing into his dojo. The guard known as Daichi was dressed in an all black suit, and was both tall and handsome. Upon entering, he bowed slightly, nodded and walked out.
While drunk, Haruto was as vigilant as he could be. While Isamu was a jerk and a heartless bastard, he wasn't weak in any way. Any mercenary powerful enough to take him out so silently was not to be trifled with, in case the mercenary planned on attacking the rest of the heirs. But as experienced as he was, even he failed to notice the subtle gleam within the eyes of his guard.
The guard in question, Daichi slowly walked out of the dojo with a dangerous gleam in his eyes and sped up, rushing into the distance.
He reached a small dojo beyond the complexes, halted and walked to the entrance before knocking.
"Oi! Who is it?!!"
A raspy and annoyed voice rang out, following which a man slid open the door to the dojo. His long twisted hair was messy, his face scrunched up in annoyance. A towel was wrapped around his waist, and the white robe he wore stuck to his body.
"Haruto-san has requested for you.."
The guard known as Daichi spoke and the man with the twisted hair, Choji, let out a sigh and re entered his dojo.
"Are you just going to stand there? Come in you twat!!"
As the guard waited outside, Choji's raspy voice drew him out of his reverie, and he shook his head and walked inside.
Upon entering, he admired the simplicity of the room, but the two naked women lying on either sides of the bed, and smell of sex in the room, made him shake his head in disgust.
"What does the young master want from me at this time?"
Choji asked, as he freshened up within his bathroom, washing his dirtied and exhausted face within the sink, but there was no response from the messenger.
"Oi. Take your eyes of that ass you freaking incel! And answer me!"
His voice broadened even within the sink, and he berated the young man, but after hearing no response once more, he lifted his head, only for his heart to shake, seeing the familair handsome visage glaring towards him within the mirror.
"Y-y-young master!!!"
His heart shook and he turned around in fear. He couldn't believe what his brain was identifying as his young master right before his own eyes.
"Why do you look so surprised Choji? I thought you of all people would be happy to see me.."
Sasuke's evil looking Sharingan and his smile, was akin to looking at the death reaper in the eyes of the man. Sweat dripped down the man's cheek as memories flooded in his mind. How he had made the young master's life miserable at the behest of the other clan heirs, and how he had happily taken the lead in ending his life with his blade.
"P-please forgi-.."
He didn't even have time to form a coherent sentence, when a kunai to his neck silently sent blood splashing all over the bathroom.
After about a few seconds, a Choji look-alike walked out of the bathroom, adjusting his clothes with a sharp gaze, his lips cracking into Choji's signature smile, and his gait slowly matching the dead man's.
Taking in a deep breath, he walked out of the dojo, heading straight for young master.
*
*Knock!*
"Come in you idiot!"
Upon reaching, he knocked on the gate twice, but Haruto's drunk and annoyed voice resounded from the inside berating him openly.
Upon entering, Sasuke surveyed the area cautiously, before he turned towards the drunk youth seated cross-legged on a futon and eyed him dangerously.
"You called for me, young master.."
He lowered his head gently, trying to mimick what Choji would do in such a situation.
"Sigh. I need you to do something for me, Choji. You're the only one in the can I fully trust. I need you to bring to me, the head of the mercenary who killed my brother. I heard from Arata, that the one responsible is known as Zero.."
The moment Haruto spoke, the Choji look alike's expression faltered for a moment and in the next moment, he shook his head in worry.
"Young master, if the mercenary was powerful to kill Isamu so mercilessly, I don't think it's a good idea to ---"
*BOOOOM!*
Before Choji could complete his statement, a punch from an enraged Haruto slammed towards his chest, with immense force. He reacted quickly enough, crossing both arms before his chest to block the attack.
However..
*BANG!*
His large body was sent crashing through the entrance of the dojo, as he skid across the rocky floor for a few meters and quickly kicked up, landing on his feet smoothly.
Feeling stinging sensations on his arms, he looked down only to see multiple incised wounds crisscrossed along both limbs, and a smile slowly crept up to his face.
"Since when question or talk down on me? Choji?. Hahaha... Your impersonation was perfect. Even I nearly missed it.."
Haruto slowly began walking towards the Choji look alike with a nonchalant expression as his cursed energy bubbled up and exploded, morphing into long silver strings that gleamed in the moonlight with incredible sharpness, as if they could cut through anything and everything.
"So you knew huh. Makes no difference to me.."
The Choji look alike took a deep breath and raised his head with a smile, his irises turning bloody red like a devil's for a moment, as his visage and appearance slowly morphed. His muscular body was replaced with a lean frame wrapped in a black robe that bore red cloud imprints.
His worn out face was slowly replaced by a handsome yet pale looking face, as his Sharingan peered towards the opponent without hesitation.
The moment his appearance was revealed, the calm and collected Haruto took a step back in shock, as his brain tried to make sense of what had just transpired before him. He had heard of the notorious mercenary called Zero from the elders of the clan, the one perceived to be the suspect of their brothers death.
However, what he did not expect-- no, what none of the Zen'ins expected to happen was that, the ghost of their clan, the once brightest star and beacon of hope of the clan would turn out to be their adversary, the one responsible for the death of one of their heirs.
"Hahaha! You don't look much perplexed at the revelation, unlike your brother. Then again, you were always the quiet and shy kid."
Sasuke's lips cracked into a smile. The expressions on the faces of the Zen'in clan members at the revelation of who he was, was quite satisfying to be honest.
"It all makes sense now. You miraculously survived and now you think you're worthy to challenge the clan! Such wishful thinking."
Haruto's face was grim, however he was prepared to fight. Sharp, elastic silver strings revolved around him like a tornado, that threatened to dice and slice through everything before it.
"It's time to go join your brother in hell. But don't worry, the rest of the clan elders might follow you there soon enough..."
Sasuke's purplish black cursed energy bubbled and exploded forth, as his left hand formed the hand seal of confrontation and blitzed towards the opponent with immense speed and a tanto in hand.
