Chapter 9: Mercernary
Three weeks later..
Jujutsu High..
Four figures sat across each other in a small cafeteria within the heart of Jujutsu, enjoying cold drinks to calm and refresh themselves after a hard days mission.
"Sigh..the number of curses growing and maturing within Shinjuku and Shibuya has increased exponentially since a few months ago. It's getting a bit tedious having to go on multiple missions every single day..."
After sipping from a cup of cold cola, a handsome, long haired youth let out an exhausted sigh, before he reclined in his seat. He was dressed in a standard Jujutsu uniform and rather baggy pants.
"Suguru's right. Man! I haven't gotten the chance to relax in these few weeks..It hurts everywhere!"
With his head on the table, a white haired youth also complained in exhaustion, his body too tired to move even a bit.
"It's been hard on us all. Hopefully we can get the situation under control in a few days.."
Seated across them, a beautiful dark haired young woman dressed in a a red skirt and a white haori, a rather stark contrast to the Jujutsu uniform, also sighed, before she took a sip of her tea.
"Not everyone is having it hard. Ieiri's been having a field day sitting in the sick bay all day long!"
The white haired youth raised his head and stared sharply at the brown haired young woman seated across them and reading a newspaper unconcerned and uncaring of their problems.
"I'd rather be on the battlefield dealing with curses than healing idiots like you at the sick bay all day."
She dropped her coffee mug and reclined in her seat, not before sending a sharp glare to the white haired youth.
"Besides, you're here whining about some 3rd and fourth grades. In the real world, an assassin and curse user by the name of Zero has arisen, supposedly working for Q or affiliated to other mercenary groups.
They say he's ruthless and kills both sorcerers and non sorcerers, and on top of that he has the ability to appear and disappear like a ghost.."
She summarised everything she read within the newspaper and from other news sources she read from or listened to in her free time.
"It's probably some curse user with an invisibility cursed technique thinking he's hot shit. I bet I could take him even with my eyes closed.."
Raising his head abruptly after hearing what he termed as interesting news, Gojo Satoru couldn't help but laugh in ridicule.
"Probably, but the mercenaries seem to hold him in high regard, despite the fact that he rose to fame a few weeks ago.
According to my source, he possesses a flawless record, second only to their topmost assassin."
She continued, with a nonchalant expression.
"But at least, tracking him down would be a good waste of my time, rather than spending all day exorcising curses!"
Satoru stood up in a hurry and straightened his clothes ready to head over to the headmaster's office for a change in mission.
"You probably won't be able to get that mission you idiot. Did you forget Mei san has been in charge of infiltrating the mercenary groups and gathering information? She'll probably be assigned to handle him like she always has.."
Utahime spoke while rolling her eyes, and Satoru sighed and placed his head back on the table in exhaustion..

Edogawa City...
Under the cover of night, an abandoned warehouse loomed in the distance, away from the busy roads in the major city, its rusty exterior blending seamlessly with the shadows.
The moon cast a pale glow through the broken windows, creating streaks of light that illuminate the dust particles floating in the air.
The faint sound of distant traffic was the only reminder of civilization as two cars pulled up to the warehouse's entrance, their headlights cutting through the darkness before flicking off simultaneously.
Inside, the atmosphere was tense. The cavernous space was cluttered with old machinery and crates, providing plenty of hiding spots but also amplifying every footstep, while a solitary, flickering fluorescent light hanged from the ceiling, casting an eerie, intermittent flashes across the scene.
Multiple armed men stood firmly, surrounding the entire warehouse, and surveying the entire vicinity with sharp eyes.
Then, two men walked out of the two cars parked in front, one of them, a tall stout man dressed in a tight black shirt and covered in tattoos and a middle aged dark haired, middle aged Chinese man wrapped in a purple suit, and holding onto a majestic walking stick.
The stout man in the black shirt took out a large cigar, lighted it and began smoking before he let out a smile to the middle aged man.
"It's been a while Lao Ma..."
"Good to see you as always, Taoka."
They shook hands and entered into the warehouse with briefcases in hand.
"You seem to be doing good, my friend, despite the rise of mercenaries in your country. I'm honestly still surprised you'd want to do business with me at the point, Taoka."
The white haired man spoke, as both of them took their seats around a small table and took sips of already served hot tea.
"Mercenaries?. Just a bunch of idiots and wannabes deployed by a bunch of fools who don't understand the depth of reality.
No mercenary group dares to challenge the might of the Yakuza, and for as long as I live, we are directly at the service of the Lao Family."
He tattooed man laughed, before pulling out a small briefcase and pushing it towards Lao Ma.
"Hoho. Great products as always, the family heads will definitely be pleased with you Taoka.."
Lao Ma laughed after his eyes examined the quality of the products offered to him the Yakuza boss, Taoka.
"Of course. The Lao family gets only the best from us...."
He responded with and raised his tea cup as they both toasted and drank.
"Boss, there's a letter for you.."
After about thirty minutes, one of the Yakuza hench men interrupted the conversation between the two men, holding onto a small envelope with a round bloody seal that consisted of a three black tomoe shaped patterned symbol.
"Read it dumbass. What are you waiting for?"
Annoyed at the fact that his conversation was interrupted, the Yakuza boss smacked the head of his henchman, and berated him, not registering the dangerous flicker within his irises.
As the henchman slowly lifted the seal, he found no letter within the envelope and poured out it's contents only to find black sand pouring out onto the ground.
*BANG!*
"Sand?! Who dares disrespect the Yakuza!!"
Taoka instantly smashed his palm onto the table in a thunderous fury, as he gritted his teeth in a mad rage.
Normally he would've ignored such stupidity, however doing this in front of Lao Ma who was a representative of his sponsor the Lao Family was unacceptable and only punishable by death.
"Find out who is responsible for this and get me-..."
*SWOOSH!*
He lashed out in fury towards his henchmen and gave out an order only to halt his words when a shadowy figure flashed atop the tops of the containers.
The presence of an inadequate light source in the large warehouse further accentuated the shadowy figure, as pindrop silence reigned for a moment.
"What is that!!?"
At this point even Lao Ma felt agitated, as he stood up, gripping the handle of his walking stick tightly.
"You bastards!! Kill it already!!"
Taoka roared out, drawing his henchmen out of their reverie as they gripped their rifles and began firing towards the moving phantom like figure whose movement grew faster and faster.
A simple stray bullet caused the small lamp hanging above their head to burst into fragments, further darkening the environment.
"Don't stop shooting!!"
Roaring out orders, what Taoka failed to notice was the bloody pair of eyes glaring towards him right behind.
*SLASH!*
The next shocking thing caused all the henchmen to pause their unending barrage of bullets.
Lao Ma now lay on the ground, his body neatly cleaved into two, as his blood jutted out like springs from the earth.
Everyone was completely stumped, especially Taoka who unconsciously dropped onto his butt, seeing the dead body of his partner and friend.
His fear intensified even further when he finally noticed the figure standing above his friend's corpse.
Wrapped in a black robe with red clouds imprinted on it, the killer wore a spiral mask that hid his face completely with a small hole from which his demonic looking left eye glared from.
In his hand, he gripped onto a bloodied kunai with a long, thin mettalic chain attached to its end, and on his lower back a black sword was sheathed.
One of the henchmen suddenly snapped out of his reverie, breaking the sudden stalemate, before grabbing his rifle and began unloading rounds towards the masked figure, however the next thing he captured in his vision was the short curved kunai slashing towards him from above, as his vision darkened in a moment.
"K-kill!! Kill!!!"
Seeing one of his henchmen get diced into two, along with the gun in his hand, Taoka couldn't hold it in any longer and screamed in fear, as blood splashed onto his body.
He didn't even bother trying to attack with his men and instantly made a run for it.
*SLASH!!*
The ear piercing and sharp sounds of slashes reverberated across the warehouse. The masked figure, like a ghost seemed to disappear and reappear anywhere, like he was teleporting.
Despite this unnatural ability, he displayed terrifying feats of agility, dodging every single bullet that came his way, as if he could see into the future.
Meanwhile, the henchmen weren't faring so well. Every move from the masked figure sent heads, limbs and torsos flying, accompanied by spurts of blood.
None of them managed to land a single hit on him, and were simply butchered by his blade.
As he reached the entrance of the warehouse, Taoka couldn't help but turn his head into the battlefield and his eyes widened in shock and awe.
The entire vicinity had been turned into a bloody gory mess, that made an experienced and violent man like him even want to puke.
He saw the masked man flip and spin in mid air, dodging rounds of bullets, before his chained kunai swept out, harvesting heads like the scythe of the grim reaper.
And soon enough, he caught the bloody red gaze of the masked figure latch onto his body, a gaze that nearly made him shit himself, and shiver and escape with every jolt of energy within his body.
He reached his car, sat in, wasted not a single second, sparked and drove out of the vicinity, accelerating with each passing second.
About a kilometer away from the warehouse, near a small forest, Taoka sighed in his car seat, though not slowing down, as he thanked the gods in his heart.
However before he could even celebrate, his irises widened in shock, in response to the shocking sight before him.
The masked figure now stood nonchalantly, a few meters away from his vehicle, and that same demonic eye kept glaring into the depth of his soul.
The masked figure on the other hand merely reached out behind him and pulled out a sleek blade sheathed on his lower back.
The blade hummed with a dull purple light, and without hesitation, he gripped tightly in reverse, spun around in mid air and let out a simple unassuming slash.
A/N: Come on guys. No comments, no reviews and little donations. Sigh. Is it that you guys hate Sasuke or maybe I'm missing something. Anyway, enjoy.
