Kamen Rider in DC

Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Haruka has been out on patrol for the past few nights, his eyes scanning the dark streets for any sign of trouble. Ever since he saved that bus on the highway, his alter ego as Kamen Rider has been the talk of the city. But so far, no supervillains have shown their faces.

Haruka scanned the quiet streets, his eyes narrowed in frustration. Fawcett City seemed like a sleepy town, nothing like the bustling metropolis he had expected. No criminal gangs, no metahumans, not even a natural disaster to contend with - just the usual petty thugs and lowlifes. He let out a frustrated sigh, his fingers drumming impatiently on the handlebars of his bike.

The mission's timetable weighed heavily on his mind. He needed to find a worthy adversary, a supervillain to test his skills against. But so far, the city had been disappointingly uneventful. Haruka considered packing up and moving on to greener pastures when something in the distance caught his eye. He leaned forward, squinting into the darkness, his heart suddenly pounding with anticipation. Maybe this city wasn't as dull as he'd thought.

Haruka squinted his eyes, trying to make out the figures in the distance. As he drew closer, he could see two people standing in front of the dome-shaped monkey bars - a man in a red suit, and a young boy holding a crutch.

The man in red was shooting bolts of lightning from his hands, the electricity crackling and dancing across the metal bars. The boy watched in awe, his eyes wide with wonder. Haruka couldn't help but be intrigued by the display of power.

The boy, who appeared to be no more than 10 or 11 years old, leaned heavily on his crutch, but the expression on his face was one of pure excitement. Haruka could see the boy's admiration for the man in red, who was clearly demonstrating incredible abilities.

Haruka recognized the man in red as Captain Marvel or Shazam from his previous life. Looking at Shazam, Haruka realized he must have only recently gotten his powers. The young boy's excitement and wonder at the display of lightning reminded Haruka of his own fascination with the Kamen Rider series as a child. He couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia at the memory.

Shazam continued his demonstration, the electricity arcing and dancing across the metal bars.

Haruka watches as Freddy and Billy discuss his superhero name. He stays quiet, not quite sure what to make of their enthusiasm.

"We clearly have to give you a lightning-themed superhero name," Freddy says, his eyes bright with excitement.

"Yeah!" Billy chimes in, nodding eagerly.

Haruka hears the distant screaming and sees a man attempting to steal a woman's purse.

Freddy glanced at Billy, but the younger man hesitated, uncertain of how to proceed. Suddenly, a look of realization crossed Billy's face as he remembered his newfound superpowers.

"Oh, right! Hey, back—" Billy started, moving towards the robber. But as he accidentally triggered his super speed, he wasn't prepared for the burst of momentum. He ended up shoving the man, and the robber tumbled onto a pile of garbage bags with a thud.

"Off..." Billy muttered, surprised by the force of his own actions.

Freddy shouts from a distance, "Hyperspeed check!"

Billy waves back at Freddy, feeling what he did was awesome. He grins, reveling in the power of his newfound abilities. Before he can bask in the moment further, the woman whose purse was nearly stolen approaches him, eyes wide with a mix of relief and concern.

The woman approached Billy, her eyes wide with a mixture of relief and concern. "Who are you?" she asked.

Billy gave her a sheepish grin. "Just a guy, ma'am. An adult."

The woman let out a grateful sigh. "How can I ever thank you?"

Billy glanced over at Freddy, then made a subtle gesture indicating he could use some money. "Well, uh..." he began, turning back to the woman.

"I'm a little short on cash at the moment," he admitted.

The woman quickly reached into her purse and pulled out a $50 bill, holding it out to Billy. "Here, please take this. It's the least I can do."

Billy accepted the money, nodding his head. "Thank you, ma'am. I really appreciate it."

The woman smiled warmly. "No, thank you for your help. I'm just glad you were here." She turned and hurried away, the relief evident in her steps.

Billy hurried back to Freddy, a wide grin spreading across his face. "Dude, you should've seen it! I totally wrecked that guy!" He held up the $50 bill, practically bouncing with excitement.

Freddy's eyes went wide as saucers. "No way, she gave you fifty bucks? This is insane, Billy! Do you know what this means?" He leaned in, his expression brimming with enthusiasm.

Billy quirked an eyebrow, intrigued. "What?"

"We're gonna be rich, man!" Freddy declared, already dreaming up all the ways they could spend their newfound wealth.

Billy glanced back at the robber, who was still sprawled on the ground amidst the garbage bags. "You think he'll be okay?" he asked, a flicker of concern crossing his features.

Freddy waved a dismissive hand. "Ah, he'll be fine. Who cares? We've got fifty bucks!" He clapped Billy on the back, his grin infectious.

Billy couldn't help but match Freddy's excitement, the reality of their situation sinking in. With this kind of money, the possibilities were endless. He couldn't wait to see what the future had in store.

Haruka watched from the sidelines as the two boys, Freddy and Billy, celebrated their newfound wealth. He couldn't help but sigh, observing their carefree excitement over the money. Haruka decided to watch them a bit longer, curious to see what the two would do next.

Freddy was already brainstorming ways they could spend the $50, his eyes alight with possibilities. "We could buy video games, or maybe get some snacks!" he exclaimed, practically bouncing on the balls of his feet.

Billy, on the other hand, seemed a bit more hesitant. "I don't know, Freddy. Shouldn't we, like, report the guy or something?" he asked, glancing back at the robber still lying in the pile of garbage.

Freddy waved a dismissive hand. "Nah, he's fine. What's the big deal? We got free money!" He grabbed Billy's arm, tugging him along. "Come on, let's go see what we can find!"

As the two boys hurried off, Haruka furrowed his brow, wondering if they would indeed cause any trouble. He knew he should probably intervene, but something held him back. Perhaps it was the nostalgia he felt watching their carefree antics, or the desire to see how the situation would unfold. Whatever the reason, Haruka decided to continue observing the pair, determined to ensure they didn't stray too far from the right path.
