Konoha: I'm Sasuke, lighting emperor

Chapter 39: Chapter 39 A Blatant Trap

"I'm about halfway recovered in terms of Chakra," Sasuke assessed, his eyes fixed on his target. Despite not having fully replenished his Chakra, Sasuke noticed a significant increase in strength and speed after his intense battle with Zabuza. He realized that engaging in fights had a remarkable impact on his abilities, and he resolved to seek out more battles in addition to his training.

Reviewing his inventory, Sasuke took stock of the weapons he had left: sixteen kunai, twenty shurikens, a detonating talisman, and steel wire. Considering the incredible speed and strength displayed by his opponent, Sasuke speculated that the enemy was likely at the Elite Jōnin level, if not stronger. Killing this formidable foe wouldn't be an easy task.

Carefully advancing, Sasuke proceeded cautiously, keenly aware of his surroundings. As he emerged from a thicket, he came across a moderately-sized clearing. Surprisingly, he discovered Dazna lying alone under a tree, with no one else in sight. The situation seemed suspicious—almost like an obvious trap. This realization heightened Sasuke's alertness.

As Sasuke contemplated the circumstances, he suddenly sensed danger approaching from behind. Reacting quickly, he activated his Sharingan and unleashed the Flash Fire technique, transforming himself into a bolt of lightning and narrowly evading the assailant's attack. He reappeared in the open space, his gaze fixed on the adversary who had just missed him.

Sasuke pulled out a handful of kunai from his ninja bag, his eyes locked firmly with the enemy. The two Sharingan eyes locked onto each other, and Sasuke recognized the figure before him—Orochimaru. Confusion overwhelmed him as he wondered why Orochimaru was present at this time and why he had captured Dazna to lure Sasuke into this situation. It didn't align with the events of the original story, where Orochimaru hadn't shown up at this point, especially considering he was busy with his plans to destroy Konoha.

Orochimaru's comment about Sasuke's eyes heightened his suspicion. Was Orochimaru after his Sharingan? This thought struck Sasuke with fear, as he knew he stood no chance against Orochimaru solely for his eyes. However, he realized that if Orochimaru coveted his body, there might be a slim chance for him to escape.

Refusing to give up without a fight, Sasuke clenched a handful of kunai, preparing to defend himself. Orochimaru smirked, underestimating Sasuke's abilities and believing he could easily counter a kunai attack. Yet Sasuke's throwing technique was far from ordinary. As he hurled the kunai towards Orochimaru, they followed intricate arcs in the air, their paths shifting unpredictably. For a moment, Orochimaru was taken aback by the unconventional attack.

In an instant, Orochimaru recovered and swiftly formed hand seals. "Wind Style—Gale Palm!" he exclaimed, unleashing a barrage of wind blades that deflected the kunai. Sasuke's attack was thwarted, but seizing the opportunity, he appeared right in front of Orochimaru, utilizing the cover of the kunai. Determined to make a stand, Sasuke intended to land a blow on Orochimaru, even if it meant sacrificing his own life.

The situation had taken a dangerous turn, with Sasuke confronting one of the most formidable adversaries he had encountered thus far. Orochimaru's motives remained unclear, and Sasuke's chances of survival seemed slim. Nevertheless, he pressed forward, resolved to fight until the end, even if it meant sacrificing himself to strike a blow against Orochimaru.
