Konoha: Saigo the wielder of the ketsuryugan- Blood Ascension Book 1

Chapter 2: CHAPTER 2: Change

Looking into the mirror, while fixing my shaggy, messy, pale brown hair, I nodded my head, satisfied with my appearance. My hair was in a ponytail, and I had two long bangs that reached down to my cheeks.

The mirror reflected the lifeless and dull look in my violet-purple eyes. The color of my eyes is a rarity in Konoha; no one possessed this unique shade of purple, not even my mother. I turned on the water, beginning to wash my face and brush my teeth.

After getting done, I made my way downstairs and decided to skip breakfast in head straight for school; but before I did, I glanced at the book on the coffee table... The book about my clan.

Yes, I had a clan. Even I, a talentless good-for-nothing loser, had a family out there. I haven't read the book in a long time; only the introduction of the clan and how it was formed. During the warring period, my clan, the Chinoike Ichizoku, was feared throughout the land of lightning as one of the strongest shinobi clans. We even rivaled the Senju, Hyuga, Uzumaki, and the Uchiha in terms of prowess...

One day, the Uchiha clan forced them to leave the Land of Hot Water due to a scandal and lie told by the first wife of the Lightning Daimyo. She did this out of spite and jealousy because the Daimyo had fallen in love with one of our clansmen at that time.

I picked up the book from the table and decided to take it with me. I thought a little reading on my break wouldn't hurt, right? Yes, for the next two months, the students will be practicing for the exams. This time, the "bushin'" technique and transformation were not the only requirements for this year's graduation.

The reason? Well, let's talk about a certain Hokage's wife who felt that the current academy curriculum, especially the training, should set a standard for what Genin should be able to do. According to her, the students must know the Body Flicker Technique, tree climbing, the academy taijutsu style, have a decent proficiency in weaponry, be able to dispel genjutsu, and lastly, have a decent amount of chakra control.

This was perfect for me. My chakra control and ability to dispel genjutsu were strong, and my taijutsu wasn't too bad either. I was able to easily defeat every kid who didn't belong to a clan. However, when it came to facing someone from a shinobi family, especially kids from clans, I would always end up getting beaten.

Especially from Naruto, who constantly humiliates me in our spars. Sighing, I looked back at the photo that was leaning on a pot of flowers. In the picture, my mother was leaning on the tree. She had beautiful pale blondish long hair, similar to an amanako. And just like my eyes, hers were a beautiful purple color.

Smiling, I left my home before making my way to school.

Slowly walking on the streets of Konoha, I was met with the same stares of resentment towards me. Speeding up my pace; to get away from their stares, I stopped when I heard shouting, from a girl.

End of Saigo's POV

We see three chunin surrounding a girl with brown hair. She was wearing a white bandanna over her head. Covering her survey body was a white robe with sleeveless folds, and a sort of dark blue apron.

The brunette sneered at the three men and said. "I said it before, and I will say it again, the answer is no, Kaifuki.

In the middle was a boy who seemed to be a couple of years older than Saigo, most likely in his mid-teens, just like his two friends and the girl he was harassing. They appeared to be around 15 to 16 years old, about two to three years older than the protagonist.

With a smug smile on his face, Kaifuki placed his hand on the brick wall, trapping the girl and invading her personal space. "You see, Ayame-chan, I don't really like taking no for an answer, so I'm unsatisfied with your choice. Now be a good girl and become my woman. My father, is a very wealthy merchant, y'know? He can easily-"

"Excuse me, senpai. I think you should let her go. She doesn't seem to like you," said a voice almost in a whisper. The grey-haired chunin turned around to see the newcomer. Once he did, not only hate appeared on his face, but also fear – an unimaginable fear.

He and the three goons began to pull out their kunai before saying, "S-Stay back, demon! We are ninjas now. We will finish what the fourth Hokage started. We will kill you and become heroes," bluffed Kaifuki, whose hands were shaking while pointing the kunai at the boy.

Stepping out of the shadows was none other than our protagonist, who was carrying his backpack. Saigo lifted his eyebrows, but deep inside he was aware that he was the Kyuubi, but he didn't think many people in his generation knew about it. Judging by these three sloppy postures, especially how they carried their kunai, they were undoubtedly civilian ninjas.

"Listen, I-"

Saigo attempted to approach to explain, but the three shinobi started to retreat before sprinting away.

Seeing that the three cowardly "chunin" had left, he decided that he needed to make his way to school. He didn't want to give Iruka-sensei a reason to scold him, especially after that guy reported him to the Hokage. Without looking back to see if the girl was okay, Saigo began to make his way to the academy.

Unbeknownst to him, the girl's chocolate eyes were gazing at his fleeting figure. Unlike the others, the girl didn't harbor resentment or fear. Instead, she felt admiration and curiosity. She began to hold her milky cheeks before a blush appeared. Her father had warned her to stay away from the boy. Yes, she knew he was the jailor of the nine-tail fox, and she knew the consequences of speaking about it in public. But was the boy truly as evil as the others said?

(A/N: Teuchi does expose the secret, but the MC didn't tell Sorutobi. Just wanted to clear up any confusion.))

Ayame decided. If she ever saw the boy, she would make sure she would repay him.

Saigo POV

Upon entering the academy, I was once again met with stares. Not stares out of hate, but of superiority - the way a predator looks at its prey, the strong looking down on the weak. I was bullied a lot, and these people were just spectators, finding enjoyment in seeing me get tormented by Naruto Namikaze, the son of the fourth Hokage.

Walking into the noisy classroom, I begin to sit in the back by the window. This was my favorite spot, not only could Iruka and Mizuki see me, but he also enjoyed the Konoha scenery. Sitting in my seat, I begin to look around the room.

As I took my school items out of my bag, I waited patiently for classes to begin. As I mentioned earlier, I must work exceptionally hard if I want to avoid being the last in the class. I was below average, but I performed better than most students... Well, that's what Iruka said, but I believe he is lying. I study diligently every single day and manage to answer every question, even the difficult ones that Iruka sensei presents to me.

When the class started, I decided to pay extra attention today. Yesterday, we had a practice exam, and today we will be practicing the bunshin jutsu, which is something I have been working on. I can now create up to ten clones, which is a skill that only a few classmates, including Sasuke Uchiha, the son of the Konoha's police chief Fugaku Uchiha, and Kikiyo Uchiha, the princess of the Uchiha clan and the great-granddaughter of Madara Uchiha.

(A/N: The Uchiha clan was not slaughtered; they are still at odds with Konoha.)

After arrived, class began to start.

It's been five hours. And now we are all being called up to perform the bunshin technique. Some of the civilians performed at least one clone. While the clans can perform up to five or six, except for the Uchiha. Then it was the Namikaze twins... Yes, twins. And they performed the Kage bunshin technique!?

Mito Uzumkai; was a redhead, whose hair was in twin ponytails. She had blueish-green eyes. Unlike her brother; she never missed with me. She was kind to everyone... Even to me. I smiled unconsciously looking at her.

And she saw me. Smiling back at me, mito waved at me. The entire class saw that she was waving at me. All the guys, in the class were just glaring at me out of jealousy. But who gave me a look of disgust was Naruto. I gulp, and I tried my best not to make eye contact with him.

Mito frowned, but I was unaware of it at that time.

"Saigo! You're the last one, so hurry up in coming down, said Iruka who began to look at his clipboard. Making my way down to the front of the class. I waited for Iruka to tell me to start.

"Begin!" Said Iruka.

Performing a one-handed sign, I begin to mold my chakra. A crimson-red aura begins to surround my body. There was no smoke or any indication that I performed the jutsu. From each corner or side of the room, a clone of me appeared, totaling about 10 to 11 in all.

Iruka was shocked for a moment before returning back to his serious and stoic state. "Excellent. Saigo, you can go back to your seat," said Iruka. Everyone in the class was surprised by my mastery of the bunshin technique; even the Uchiha princess was amazed.

"Good job, Saigo-San!" Said Mito who gave me a warm smile. This caused me to blush a little.

"O-Oh it was nothing Mito-San! You're the really amazing one. You're able to make five Kage bunshin, a Jonin-level technique. You're the amazing one, I said blushing.

Mito's face also begins to turn red. "O-Oh you think so..." Said Mito who was fiddling with her fingers, similar to her friend Hinata.

Many of the boys like Kiba, who had a crush on Mito were gritting their teeth in anger. Naruto just snorted in disgust, not knowing why his sister had taken a liking to that orphan nobody.

I just ignored; the glares, right now my mind was still on Mito.
