Ch 79
Chapter 79: Questioning
“I wonder what status the two of you hold to question this project?”
Ye Ze exchanged a subtle glance with An Jue, simultaneously revealing a barely noticeable smile. Pretending to be puzzled, he took a voluntary step forward, offering to take the lead.
The world spirits sensed something was amiss and stopped watching the excitement, gathering around the little snake sub-beast, vigilant of every move from the other side.
No matter who they were against, they were not allowed to harm their little one!
An Shu proudly puffed up his chest, placing An Ran at the center. “Naturally, as the Divine Child.”
The people present exchanged glances, and suddenly, whispers broke out.
“The Divine Child?” Ye Ze on the stage sneered, revealing genuine disdain and sarcasm, expressing the doubts of the crowd, “As far as I know, the position of Divine Child is only qualified for the children of the two clan leaders. However, this individual, born from a collateral branch of the Dragon clan, without recognition from the clan leaders or approval from the world spirits, clearly does not belong in this category.”
The world spirits instantly became agitated, expressing their agreement.
Especially the already hot-tempered groundhog, who rolled up its sleeves, ready to charge forward and fight.
But the little snake sub-beast swiftly grabbed it before it could act. “Grey, what are you trying to do? Ye Ze and Uncle are dealing with official matters, you can’t cause trouble!”
“Squeak! Squeak squeak!” It’s not causing trouble. It just wants to scratch this audacious imposter to death!
The groundhog kicked its legs wildly in the little snake sub-beast’s arms, snarling at An Shu and An Ran.
“Alright, alright, I know Grey doesn’t like the Divine Child. But, Ye Ze and the others will definitely have a way to handle it. After everything is settled, Grey can go teach them a lesson, okay?”
The groundhog’s thrashing little paws suddenly stopped, flipping over in the little snake sub-beast’s arms. Pressed against the little snake sub-beast, it anxiously tried to explain.
It’s not that it doesn’t like the Divine Child. It’s just that it doesn’t like imposters!
“Okay, okay. I understand. Grey, if it’s Ye Zi’s words, you won’t have to wait long.” Without waiting for the groundhog to speak, the little snake sub-beast patted its head with a smile. After speaking, he nodded in self-affirmation.
The groundhog, having missed the prime opportunity, felt gloomy. It drooped in the little snake sub-beast’s arms, sulking.
Having sensed the little snake sub-beast’s attitude through the vanguard’s probing, the other three world spirits halted in their tracks. They obediently stayed put, nuzzling against the little snake sub-beast’s cheeks.
They were so well-behaved. They wouldn’t learn any bad habits from Grey Grey.
The horned deer spirit hit the nail on the head.
The little snake sub-beast scratched the its chin, giggling. He was completely unconcerned about the imminent crisis in the eyes of the others.
He knew Ye Ze’s personality.
If it were something serious, Ye Ze definitely wouldn’t be in his current state.
Clearly, not everyone had the self-awareness to gauge the gap between themselves and others, nor did everyone understand Ye Ze as well as the little snake sub-beast did.
In response to Ye Ze’s inquiry, An Ran calmly stepped forward. Turning to face the crowd, he replied loudly, “I believe everyone here knows about the shocking defection incident in the Black Dragon clan sixty-nine years ago!”
An Jue and Nuo Fei’s expressions darkened. Their gazes turned icy, cutting towards An Ran like blades.
If it had been before, they might have spared the younger generation like An Ran out of familial consideration. But now, when the other party dared to trade the secrets guarded by generations of dragons for their own benefit, both of them silently sentenced him to death in their hearts.
The pupils of the onlookers trembled. In the sudden oppressive atmosphere, they couldn’t help but hold their breath, their hearts pounding with fear.
They had a premonition. What they were about to hear next would probably be a very significant secret within the Dragon clan!
“Yes! It was the former Black Dragon clan leader’s younger brother, the biological father of Nuo Fei, who dissolved the contract with his former partner, Lord Nuo Jiu, and married a member of the White Dragon clan. This major event caused a great upheaval in the Dragon clan!”
This time, all the murmurs couldn’t be suppressed anymore.
The entire venue became noisy.
“And the reason behind the incident, I’m sure everyone will find it very surprising. Yes, it was because of the birth of the current leader of the law inspection team, Lord Nuo Yan.”
“But why?”
Yeah, why?
Sitting behind the scenes with the groundhog in his arms and leaning against the stag, the little snake sub-beast blinked in confusion.
Unlike the tension felt by partners and relatives who were in crisis, it seemed more like they were eagerly awaiting gossip.
Oh, Nuo Nuo didn’t mean to offend Uncle and Aunt.
It’s just that An Ran’s storytelling was so exciting!
The little doll wiped away noodle tears, apologized to An Jue and Nuo Fei’s stickers, and peeked out from under the handkerchief covering his face, secretly shifting his attention to the animated An Ran doll on the other side.
He was really busy.
“Because, the primary requirement to qualify as the Divine Son is to be of mixed Black and White Dragon lineage! This is also why, for a long time, aside from the direct heirs and the timing of the Divine Son’s descent, intermarriage has been prohibited among the Black and White Dragon clans!”
As An Ran’s voice fell, the entire hall erupted into a commotion.
Everyone was astonished and uncertain. They hadn’t expected to hear such a terrifying piece of news at a project meeting outside the city.
“The birth of Lord Nuo Yan seriously undermines the rightful status and power of the Divine Son,’ and may even lead to a change of era for the Divine Son. Therefore, the direct lines of the Black and White Dragon clans not only oppose such marriages but also aim to prevent them! My father and mother conceived me under even more difficult circumstances than Lord Nuo Yan!”
The little snake sub-beast’s mouth was wide open, as if he had just watched an entire prime-time drama series.
“Nevertheless, I deeply love the Dragon clan and am proud of my identity as a dragon. If everything were only like this, I wouldn’t take the lead in disobeying the orders of the two Majesties, let alone overthrow their rule!”
“The Divine Son! It’s still because of the Divine Son! I must tell everyone that all the rumors inside the Dragon Palace are true! There is no secluded Divine Son in the temple at all. The Divine Son revered by the direct lines was lost even before the Divine Son hatched!”
This…
The consecutive revelations were too shocking. Up until now, after hearing these words, the crowd suddenly fell silent, unsure of how to react.
An Ran was very satisfied with the effect he had caused. Glancing at the silent An Jue and Nuo Fei, he couldn’t help but feel proud. Adding fuel to the fire, he continued to incite, “Everyone knows that the Divine Son is the communicator with the Beast God, bringing us smooth sailing through storms. When the Divine Son is supposed to appear but doesn’t, disasters naturally follow!”
“Knowing that changing the Divine Son could bring peace to the continent. But they!” An Ran suddenly turned around, pointing angrily at An Jue and Nuo Fei on the platform, “For their own selfish desires, for their current status, they abandoned everyone, leaving the continent in a state where it was punished by the Beast God, causing countless families to break apart.”
At this point, the expressions of the crowd finally began to change slightly.
There was scrutiny towards An Jue and Nuo Fei, and even a hint of hostility.
Wow! It’s not just a movie; it’s a serialized drama that’s captivating the masses!
The little snake sub-beast listened with wide-eyed surprise but lacked the suspicion and indignation.
Although he hadn’t known An Jue and Nuo Fei for long, he firmly believed that they were definitely not ruthless and domineering people.
Even if there were ulterior motives, they couldn’t possibly be about status and position.
The person on the other side, the sub-beast, was lying.
The little snake sub-beast had never been so certain.
An Ran continued to stack the deck in his favor, “Haven’t you all noticed that there have been more and more disasters lately? Not long ago, there was even a tsunami that almost submerged the rear of the Dragon Palace City. These are all expressions of dissatisfaction from the Beast God towards his spokesperson!”
Nonsense! They’ve been quite well-behaved lately, living happily with the little ones. Where did natural disasters come from? Are you blind?
The world spirits were completely blown away.
Only the little water ball quietly shrank, and shrank again. Timidly hiding inside the little snake sub-beast’s hat.
Whimpering. The tsunami wasn’t its fault. It was you guys who bullied the little one first!
The little whale snuggled against the little snake sub-beast’s neck, looking pitiful. Secretly emerging to fix its eyes on An Ran’s eyes, but flickering with flashes of bloodthirsty red light.
Bullying those stupid dragons is one thing. They’ve been trying to seek revenge for so long and haven’t succeeded yet!
But this imposter on the other side dared to casually blame the little one, saying they were endangering world peace!
After Ye Ze dealt with this, it must use the fiercest currents to drown him! The most ferocious sea beasts to tear him apart! It would torture him until there was nothing left!
An Ran, caught up in his passionate speech, suddenly felt a chill down his spine.
But when he turned to see the ugly faces of An Jue and Nuo Fei, he immediately brushed it aside, leaving only the impending triumph and arrogance.
“I have been enduring all this time. If stabilizing the situation of the continent means I have to continue pretending to be the Divine Son outside the temple, then I am willing.” An Ran’s expression was full of sorrow and pity.
“But, even for this small wish, the two Majesties do not allow it! They have wilfully allowed outsiders to trample on the dignity of our people, openly allowing large tracts of land outside the city to be destroyed by unknown beastman… You two, after doing so much, shouldn’t you give everyone an explanation!”
“That’s true.” An Jue, who had remained silent, finally spoke, “Regarding the Divine Son,’ regarding my child, we should indeed come to a conclusion.”
As An Ran looked at An Jue’s indifferent and calm demeanor, his heart suddenly skipped a beat.
Ah! The climax of the story must have arrived!
The little snake sub-beast was secretly excited. Quickly distributing snacks to the surrounding animals, he stared ahead, his eyes fixed.
The Dragon clan truly lived up to its reputation as the most powerful tribe.
Even the melons at home were bigger than those from other places.
The unconscious little snake sub-beast rolled and tumbled in the melon field, waiting for his uncle and aunt to get their comeuppance.
Charge!
The little doll cheered, waving its hands with vigor, shouting encouragement.
– It must be said that Ye Ze has really raised the little snake sub-beast too well. If it were before, the little snake sub-beast would never have had such an “optimistic” attitude, being able to watch the excitement anytime, anywhere, and feeling relaxed and happy.
Meanwhile, a figure that had been traveling for days finally arrived outside the Dragon Palace City, dusty and exhausted. Looking into the distance, at the crowd gathered like small black dots; then looking down at the crystal ball glowing brightly in his palm. His lips curled.
With a few ups and downs, he broke into the crowd.
Then he realized that things seemed to be very different from what he had imagined.
After not seeing them for a while, those mice had grown so bold? They even dared to attack openly?
Nuo Yan was both dumbfounded and shocked. For a moment, he stood there, stunned.
