Chapter 16: Chapter 14: When the Confused One Gets Hit at Midnight 2
The redhead thug's right hand was broken by Qin Qin.
The black-haired thug, upon seeing this, immediately stood up to run away, but felt a sudden pain in his back and fell flat on the ground, rolling into the pond, his body covered in mud and in a state of total disarray.
"Spare me, please let me go!" the black-haired thug pleaded from within the mud.
Qin Qin lifted the corners of her mouth as she watched the black-haired thug in the pond, retracting her right foot that had kicked out the stone.
In the darkness, her vision was exceptionally sharp; she could even make out the terrified expressions of the three begging for mercy.
"Let you go?!"
"Yes, please let us go!" The redhead and the blond thug knelt down and kowtowed, realizing they had hit a streak of bad luck. They had never imagined that the woman who had not dared to confront them just a few days ago would be so fierce today. Could it be that she was deliberately hiding her martial skills that day? It was truly an oversight.
Of course, these three thugs were mistaken. A few days earlier, Qin Qin indeed would not have dared to face the three of them alone. But times had changed, and it was just their bad luck.
"Let you go?!" Qin Qin propped her cheek with one hand, pretending to contemplate.
"We promise never to dare again. As long as you let us go today, we'll leave immediately and never appear before you again."
Would they dare to appear before her again? Of course not. Next time they encountered this "evil star," they would definitely run faster.
Watching the three beg in fear, Qin Qin took a step forward. The redhead, blond and the black-haired thug who had just climbed up, terrified, took a large step back. The black-haired thug simply jumped back into the pond, not daring to come up again.
Qin Qin stared at the black-haired thug with a deadpan expression and muttered under her breath, "Are you... here to be funny?!"
The black-haired thug could only squat down and offer a mix of a sheepish and bitter smile. He wasn't there to be funny; he clearly came to do evil. But why did it feel like they were the ones being bullied?
"I might let you go, but only if..."
"Whatever your conditions are, we will do it!" the redhead thug obsequiously assured while kneeling on the ground.
"You love to rob, don't you?... Hand over all the money you have on you!"
"What? Give money?!" The blond thug, frightened, clutched the pocket holding his money. What on earth was happening? They were... being robbed?! And by the person they were bullying?!
The redhead thug also instinctively covered his pocket!
The black-haired thug simply buried his head in the mud. Could he pretend he hadn't heard anything?
"You're not willing to do it?!"
Qin Qin surveyed the three with a menacing tone.
"No, no, of course we're willing!" What's more important, life or money? Obviously, life.
The blond thug immediately handed over all his money and presented it to Qin Qin with both hands.
Qin Qin took the money without any reservation, counting it up to about four hundred.
Seeing this, the black-haired thug also took out his money. He also had about four hundred.
The redhead thug was reluctant to give his money until a calm gaze swept over him, its sharpness piercing the darkness. Although he couldn't make out Qin Qin's eyes, he could feel the coldness in that look, and it frightened him into respectfully handing over the money.
Qin Qin accepted it without mercy. It was over five hundred. Smiling, Qin Qin looked at the redhead thug, "You seem to be somewhat dishonest?!"
"What?" The redhead thug was startled, sweat breaking out on the back of his neck. Could she know? No, impossible.
"There's an inner pocket, isn't there!"
The red-haired thug was startled and instinctively covered his inner pocket with his hand, his bitter smile trembling as he slowly took out the money from the inner pocket, "I... I..."
Qin Qin took the money, satisfied with the substantial amount, and finally smiled contentedly, "At least you know what's good for you."
Daring to play tricks in front of her, one should measure their own weight! She had clearly seen how he had carelessly covered his inner pocket just now, thinking he could fool her.
"Can... can we go now?" The red-haired thug truly felt an urge to die, today was a complete loss—neither money nor people were obtained, yet his own money was robbed, and by a seemingly fragile girl at that. Who could tell him what on earth just happened?
"Go?! Did I say you could leave?" Qin Qin swept them with a glance.
"What more do you want? We've given you all our money!"
"Miss, please spare us!" The black-haired thug's body was muddy, and he was continuously sneezing in the October night breeze.
"Think handing over the money settles everything? I want you to come to my house tomorrow to respectfully apologize to my father, and bring another thousand dollars as compensation."
"What?! I..." No.
The red-haired thug instinctively refused, but heard a crackling sound in the dark—that was the sound of stones being crushed by Qin Qin.
The faces of the three thugs turned white, and they quickly nodded, "We'll definitely come, definitely!"
"Good, if you don't, you should know the consequences. I can easily find you, and in the future, don't let me see you again. If you dare to harass my father, I'll make you regret being alive."
After finishing her words, Qin Qin strode away, and the three thugs behind her breathed a sigh of relief, wiping the cold sweat from their foreheads.
"Boss, what kind of evil star was that!"
"Whimper... Boss, I really want to go home! I miss my mom!"
"Let's go back, and remember to apologize early tomorrow to that cripp... man!" He almost cursed out loud, but feared that the evil star might still be around.
The three of them hurried away into the darkness, all wanting to cry over their losses for the day.
Stepping into the night, Qin Qin entered her home, but stopped in the main house. After a moment, she made her way to Qin An's room.
Qin An was sleeping soundly. Qin Qin approached his bedside, and a tender look flashed in her eyes as she saw his peaceful sleeping face.
She smoothed out the blanket that had slipped down and turned her gaze to Qin An's right hand. His right hand was very thin, almost bony, and lay powerlessly at the side of the bed.
Gently sitting on the edge of the bed, she extended her slender right hand to touch Qin An's, taking his pulse.
After a while, Qin Qin gently pinched Qin An's arm, her brow furrowing.
Her eyes locked onto Qin An's arm, and in the dark, her eyes faintly glowed purple. The next moment, to Qin Qin's surprise, she found that she could see through Qin An's arm—seeing the twisted, misplaced bones at the bottom of her eyes.
What... what's going on? These strange eyes again? Not only could they see through a person's past and future, but they could also see through someone's physical condition?! It was eerie, yet incredible!
After a while, Qin Qin masked her astonishment and her memory traced back.
She remembered that Qin An's hand was broken when she was two years old while he was working on a construction site. They met a dishonest employer and received no compensation; moreover, their family was poor, so Qin An's hand was only treated with some ointment—they thought it was nothing serious, but it never healed, leading to a permanent disability. Qin Qin's mother also left when she was three, and since then, Qin An had been supporting his daughter by himself with a disability.
Qin An's hand was a bit troublesome—it had been over ten years, and not only had the bone grown crooked, but due to chronic malnutrition, the muscles in his wrist had contracted and were nearly necrotic.
It was both troublesome and not—the solution was to break his hand again and then apply herbs to mend it.
Now, even with her remarkable medical skills, there was no way to treat it without some herbs. Well, another time then.
After one more look at Qin An, Qin Qin turned and left.
