Chapter 4: 3. Divine yet Intimidating
The intense confrontation, the glistening hot girls sparring against each other, and their splendid curves left Jerry in a trance.
'Those are Gamora and Nebula, alright.'
'!'
But he was forced out of his trance by a throwing knife aimed toward his face. Using his telekinesis Jerry barely stopped it in its trajectory right before it was about to pierce his forehead.
'Close Close Close, way too fucking close!'
The tip of the knife was just a few centimeters away from the bridge of his nose-wait he didn't have a nose... but it's understandable, right?
And despite the flabbergasted state of his mind, he managed to keep up a straight face.
"It's you, I thought it was some intruder." Gamora, the one who threw the knife scoffed.
"Why're you here, anyway? You must've known this place was in use." She asked with a scowl on her face.
His terminal should've shown him that this area was already in use, if he wanted to use the facility that is, there was no way he forgot to check, right? She thought.
He must've come here knowing they were here.
So, some business with any one of them or maybe both? Possibly, as he would only speak with them when necessary.
'So, what is the matter now?' She wondered, 'Possibly, something important. Since there was going to be a war in the upcoming week.'
Jerry brought the knife to his hand, letting it hover above his palm, he hadn't replied yet, his actions looked mysterious and profound. In truth, he was just buying a few seconds to think.
"Aarg!" Nebula grunted in the background, "I was just about to land a critical hit!"
Jerry didn't think he'd have to interact with them so soon, he was just planning to enjoy the view and leave silently. He also hadn't given a deep thought to how he should interact with the people who knew Maw.
From the memories of the few encounters with them, he knew that since the conversation has been initiated, he can't go without belittling Nebula in a very eloquent manner, and as for Gamora, he just had to talk less with her just like the original Maw did.
Maw couldn't talk down with Gamora, since he knew she was his Sire's favourite, and possibly his successor.
'The Maw way it is.'
With a reply already in his mind, Jerry smirked and turned to Nebula, "You are enmeshed within the confines of a misconception, Nebula."
He gathered up all the formal English in him and also referred to Maw's memories to stay in character.
Putting the knife back where it came from using his telekinesis, deftly securing it in Gamora's waist belt, Jerry added, "Perhaps you need better cybernetic enhancements to see that Gamora was ever prepared to take your 'Critical hit', she even had the leeway to throw an attack on me here."
'There, belittling and annoying Nebula in a very formal way... done!'
Nebula snorted, annoyed by Maw's insult and comparison with Gamora. "I don't need close-quarters combat advice from someone like you. So, get your nose away from here."
"Ah, the fossil doesn't have a nose." Muttering the last bit to herself in annoyance and already fed up with Maw's presence, she walked away, leaving the training ground, while swaying her wide hips.
The corner of Jerry's lips twitched at her mutterings which wouldn't have affected the original Maw in the slightest.
Well, that was expected, she wasn't respectful to anyone but Thanos. Furthermore, she hated Maw the second most, since he was the one to perform those cybernetic surgeries on her on Thanos's command. The first place was a no-brainer.
'She's still waiting for the response, eh...' Jerry thought as his eyes met Gamora's.
He could somewhat guess what was on Gamora's mind, but he didn't have to worry so much about giving a response to 'that' question right?
Jerry joined his fingertips together, a standard pose of Maw, and spoke, "It was nothing of important business, Gamora. I was just taking a stroll around here."
"Stroll? You? I see, I'll leave you to it then." Saying so Gamora went to the side.
She picked up a towel from the bench and tapped the soft cloth on her green skin, wiping off those shining beads of sweat on her neck, her handful of cleavage and face.
Gamora then left the training chamber while drinking water from her bottle. She seemed a bit doubtful of his words but it didn't matter.
Jerry turned around to watch her ass as she left, 'Do all Marvel ladies swing their asses while walking as much as these two do?'
Shrugging, Jerry turned to inspect the training arena. There were multiple training areas on the ship but this one was the most advanced and also popular among the Black Order for dueling amongst themselves. That's why Gamora and Nebula were using this one instead of their personal training grounds.
The area was hexagonal and looked as if it was made from rocks, though the walls were smooth and had metallic supports and pillars on each corner.
The floor was also made from the same materials as the walls but they were quite rough and battered up, one of the pillars was also shatttered in half, probably due to Gamora and Nebula.
There were all kinds of weapons and equipment either hanging on the walls or placed on the shelves at the side. There were also many kinds of training bots.
'Maybe I'll use this chance to test my powers as well.'
And test his powers he did.
On just his whim, some of the weapons hanging on the walls or kept on the shelves started to rise and rotated in an orbit around him. Jerry called in more weapons and they formed another two layers of orbit.
'My control is already good enough. Plus, armed with Maw's memories my brain already knows what to do at a subconscious level. Maybe I can even do 'that thing'...'
Jerry levitated above the ground, he crushed some of the melee weapons into dust and formed a sphere, making it look like he was enclosed in a dusty sphere of air.
He then activated a flame thrower gun, and the bright yellowish-orange flame blasted through the nozzle. He controlled the fire using his telekinesis to dance around him in a stripe forming another orbit. Breaking a bottle of water he formed another layer of orbit around him.
Since the arena was already somewhat damaged due to the spar session of the previous users, there was some debris lying around which Jerry used to form another orbit around him.
Earth - debris... check. Water check. Air - dusty sphere.... check. Fire - flames from the flame thrower check. Me in the center of it all... check!
'Lo and behold... poor man's Avatar State! Haha, these powers are way too cool.'
The kid inside Jerry's heart was elated. And despite doing such a complicated move he didn't feel the least bit strained, though maintaining the path of fire took up a lot of his concentration.
Maw's telekinesis didn't have an output level that could compare to the likes of Jean Gray, or Wanda Maximoff. But surely, he could make it up for it with sheer technique. After all, Maw in the movies was able to overpower Dr. Strange quite easily with just this level of output.
Suddenly he felt a presence arrive. It was Proxima Midnight and she was staring at him with an awed and somewhat confused expression.
"It's rare seeing you here, Maw. And you didn't put in the terminal that you were using this place." She remarked. Her voice, raspy and intimidating.
"Indeed, Proxima." Jerry stopped all the rotating stuff making them fall on the floor at once and added, "I was in the midst of honing a move I had imagined. Updating in the terminal may have slipped my mind as I was just taking a stroll when I was inspired to create this move. However, I am already done for the day, so you can use the arena if you wish."
Proxima nodded.
This time Jerry was prepared so he didn't take any time to respond. But it seems like he forgot to do that thing in the terminal that Proxima said. And hence, got surprised by her arrival.
"Your move, it displayed your commanded over the states of matter... It looked divine yet intimidating, truly fitting for a child of Thanos." Proxima complimented.
"I appreciated your compliment, I shall take my leave then." There was a hint of condescendence as he accepted the compliment, a tone Jerry thought suited Maw's character.
While on his way out, he spotted Corvus Glaive heading in the direction of the training chamber. Both sons of Thanos just gave each other a greeting nod and headed to their respective destinations.
'Ah now that I remember it Proxima and Corvus are married. So, he was headed there for a spar with his wife, eh.'
'Good for him, I guess.'
Will he be able to get a wife, he couldn't help but wonder. No, after he gets a new body, he'd surely marry someone pretty!
