"You ok Tony?"

Rhodey's voice peered through the silence inside the plane, he asked with his brows raised and head leaning a bit forward.

He was confused as to why his friend is staring at him without blinking, without any light in his eyes and a tad bit of hostility, only if Rhodes knew that he gave Steve Rogers his suit and helped that blonde son-of-a-bitch kill his current best friend before the universe restarted.

"Yeah." Tony blinked as he looked away.

After the US military found him in the desert, he was hospitalized in an army camp for a week, even though it was very much unnecessary, all his wounds from the crash healed in a couple of days, they just wouldn't let him leave, until Rhodey rushed to Afghanistan.

Tony thought back to the relief filled, happy face once the Captain saw him alive and kicking, a emotion that Tony didn't share, not a fucking bit.

"Are you sure? You look like you're going to hit on me for a night?" Rhodey chuckled trying to lighten the atmosphere.

"No bud." Tony didn't help much with the response.

'I am going to hit you buddy, just not the way you think.' Tony chuckled inside his mind. 'And that sounded abnormally gay, no homo for godsake.'

"Come on man, cut me some slack here, what is the problem?" Rhodes sighed, folding his hands.

"Buddy." Stark opened his eyes and leaned in on a fit. "I'm tired."

"Ok." Rhodey nodded awkwardly and slowly stood up. "Ok, I'm-I'm.. you get some rest."

Tony sighed as Rhodey walked away from him, it made him breathe better, not being around a traitor, who used to be his best friend.

Tony knew that Rhodey, Pepper, Happy are yet to betray him, they have yet to do it, they always had this sense of moral justice that they wanted Tony to have, they wanted him to be a responsible figure and he knew very well, being responsible is not fun.

Tony closed his eyes and planted his head back on the seat, trying to get some sleep till they land on the god forsaken America.

The bump of the landing woke him up, Tony opened his eyes, only to close them immediately, the blinding rays of light were right on his face, he took out the sunglasses from his pocket and covered his eyes.

"Welcome back home, Tony." Rhodey said behind him, Tony shook his head and stood up as the plane's boarding opened.

"Yep, already hate it." Tony sighed walking down the bridge, his eyes darted towards the redhead and the buffed up guy on a crisp suit next to his Rolls Royce.

"Mr.Stark." Pepper wished.

"Ms.Potts, you missed me?" Tony asked with a smirk, stepping down from the flight.

"Not really, I loved the silence." Pepper smiled. Her eyes darted towards Rhodes, he was calling her with a documented paper in his hands. "Just a moment."

"Happy." Tony called out to the canadian bodyguard as Pepper excused herself and moved towards Rhodes.

"Boss, you look like shit." Happy chuckled.

"And that's a problem? I thought that's how your mom liked me?" Tony came back with a grin that made Happy shut up in an instant.

While Happy was too stunned to say anything, Pepper was signing the legal forms for Tony, she gave the pen back to James and turned around to take a quick look at Tony.

"Is he ok?" Pepper asked Rhodes.

"Beats me." Rhodes sighed, a young officer came and took the documents from his hand.

"Why? Does he still need medication?" Pepper asked in a worried tone.

"No, he is good to go, physically at least." Rhodey gazed at his billionaire friend as he entered the car. "Tony is just.. different, I don't know if it's PTSD or some shit, but that's not the Tony I know."

"Hmm." Potts hummed looking at Tony, her eyes quivering up in worry. She took a breath and turned back to Rhodes. "Thanks Rhodey."

"Hey, I always got his back." James smirked and walked back to his quadrant. Pepper rushed back to the car and boarded in.

"Where to Mr.Stark." Happy asked with an unnatural amount of formality, unlike his casual self, which made Pepper narrow her eyes at Hogan.

"Home." Tony smiled. "I sound like a heroine on her way to the airport and everytime the taxi somehow stops at the right place, that's creepy as fuck."

"Tony, you have a check up on the clock and then a visit to the psychology clinic-."

"Cut the crap Pepper, I'm gonna buy some McDonald's and head home, Happy start driving." Tony snapped at her, he flicked his collars and laid back in the seat.

After an hour-long ride and a quick drive-thru, Tony finally stepped into his home. A wave of nostalgia hit him as he moved out of this place long before he died, this place while small compared to the mansions he lived after, this one had a weird connection with him.

"Pep, leave me alone for the weekend and pick me back on Monday." Tony said while munching at the burger in hand.

"Fine, get some rest Tony." Pep sighed knowing too well that she can't convince him once he decided something.

"I will." Tony smiled back, Pepper nodded and turned around to leave but halted and tilted her head back.

"And Tony." She called making him raise his brows. "It's good to have you back."

"It's good to be back." Tony shrugged and slammed the door shut.

"Finally fucking hell." He muttered loosening his buttons, he threw his coat on the couch and stepped down to his lab.

"Jarvis?" Tony called walking into his lab.

"Welcome back, sir." His A.i butler sounded pleased. "It's always a pleasure to have you."

"It's been a long time, bud, I missed you." He sighed reminiscing the old days of his superhero bis.

"I didn't know your two week vacation made you fall in love, while I respect you, I must reject."

"Jarvis, shut up." Tony chuckled.

"Certainly sir."

Tony went silent for a moment, his gaze locked on the waves crashing below. "Buddy, I want you to terminate every secondary protocol and give me back master control."

"You sure sir?" Jarvis asked to reassure.

"Yeah, it's time I reconstructed you."

"Always in for a update sir." Jarvis let out a mechanical sigh, all the lights in the house went out for a moment and returned back.

"May I know the occasion sir?"

"World domination."
