Chapter 34: Enhancing Relationships
“Ah-choo!” He Youzhou sneezed inexplicably.
“I’ve become weaker.” He shook his head helplessly, letting out a sigh.
If it were his former self, how could he possibly sneeze? Even if someone cursed him, he wouldn’t.
“But it’s good that you’re stronger.” The good news was, he had weakened, but the sword on his body had strengthened.
It didn’t matter if this pendant of his had weakened; it wouldn’t have much impact on his overall strength.
Thinking of this, he calmly accepted the fact that he had become weaker, tucked his hands into his sleeves, and walked to an inn.
“I’m here.” He Youzhou said to the two disciples standing at the inn’s entrance.
“Master, welcome back.” Zhishi nodded and said softly.
“Don’t get lost again next time.” He Youzhou said earnestly, “It’s always troublesome to find you.”
“???” Yulan, who had been smiling on the side, suddenly had several question marks above her head.
She couldn’t understand, wasn’t it He Youzhou who got lost? Why did he say it was them who got lost?
“I’ll be more careful next time.” But Zhishi had no intention of refuting He Youzhou, “Master, I’ll take you to your room.”
“Alright.” He Youzhou nodded and followed Zhishi upstairs.
Only Yulan was still full of confusion, “Senior sister, what is this all about?”
“You’ll get used to it.” Zhishi said faintly.
This was just their master’s daily routine. If she couldn’t even accept this bit of routine, how could she be a disciple of Tianyan Sect?
“Get used to it… get used to it…” Yulan wanted to say something but stopped.
“Master, I’ve arranged a double room and a single room.” Zhishi didn’t continue to explain to Yulan, turning her head to speak to He Youzhou.
“Disciple will stay with you, Master.” Zhishi said expressionlessly.
All the previous words were just a prelude; this sentence was the real intention.
He Youzhou tapped Zhishi’s forehead, “I know what you’re thinking.”
“… ” Zhishi lowered her head in frustration. As expected of her master, he had figured everything out.
“Then leave the double room for you and Yulan, I’ll stay in the single room.” He Youzhou said.
Upon hearing this, Zhishi said, “You are the head of Tianyan Sect, how can you lower yourself to sleep in a single room?”
“It doesn’t matter.” He Youzhou waved his hand.
Zhishi originally wanted to persuade him more, but seeing He Youzhou’s back, she gave up helplessly, “Disciple understands.”
She suddenly turned her head to look at Yulan, making Yulan’s heart tremble.
“Junior sister… can stay alone.” Yulan said with a stiff smile.
“Don’t spoil her too much.” He Youzhou said, “Zhishi, didn’t I tell you? Don’t indulge in it.”
“Uh…” Zhishi was left speechless by He Youzhou.
“Compared to this matter, there’s something more important to discuss with you.” He Youzhou said, “Do you know about the blood plague around Baicheng?”
Zhishi and Yulan shook their heads. They had just arrived in Baicheng and hadn’t paid much attention to the city’s notices.
He Youzhou then roughly explained to them what had happened around Baicheng.
“Could it be?” Zhishi seemed to have thought of something and frowned.
“It’s probably the prototype of malice,” He Youzhou said unhurriedly.
Upon hearing the word “malice,” Youlan also understood what was going on.
“That guy harms others and himself,” Youlan squinted her eyes and said coldly.
“He can only be said to be the last straw that broke the camel’s back,” He Youzhou said to Youlan, “The root cause has existed for a long time.”
“But there’s no need to be too nervous. The righteous people will probably send someone to solve this blood plague soon,” he was not worried at all about the blood plague spreading, “Although the process is not that simple, it will be quelled eventually.”
“Zhishi, if you see the root cause in Baicheng, you can take action,” He Youzhou instructed.
Zhishi clasped her fists and said solemnly, “Disciple obeys.”
Youlan was a bit confused, still not understanding what this so-called root cause meant.
Was it referring to Wan Ruicai? Or something else?
“You two should get to know each other better. I’m going to rest,” He Youzhou stretched lazily and said, “Rest well so we can have fun in Baicheng tomorrow. We don’t get many chances to go down the mountain.”
With that, He Youzhou walked into the single room.
The room with a double bed was left for Zhishi and Youlan.
“Senior sister… get to know each other better?” Youlan saw Zhishi’s face about to collapse and tried to say.
“I’ll sleep on the bed, you sleep on the floor,” Zhishi said in an emotionless voice.
At this point, even if Youlan didn’t want to, what could she do to refuse?
“…” Youlan looked like she had swallowed a bitter pill and couldn’t say a word for a long time.
But soon Zhishi sighed, “Forget it, I’ll sleep on the floor, you sleep on the bed.”
Since she had said she would take good care of her junior sister, she had to keep her word.
No matter what, Youlan had helped her a lot.
“Can’t we sleep on the bed together?” Finally, Youlan asked this question.
“…” Zhishi just silently looked at Youlan without saying a word.
Being stared at made Youlan uncomfortable, so she said, “After all, Master also said to get to know each other better, right?”
“So be it,” Zhishi said expressionlessly, “Let’s do that.”
While Zhishi and Youlan were still discussing how to sleep, He Youzhou had already lain down.
As a qualified sect leader, he absolutely couldn’t bring fatigue into the next day.
Unfortunately, not everyone can fall asleep easily.
Even though the rookie competition was the day after tomorrow, Lin Qingxue was already restless today.
“I heard that all the outstanding Foundation Establishment cultivators around Baicheng participated in the competition. How far can she go?”
Her family has always had high expectations for her joining the Qingshan Sect at this time.
If she can’t give a good answer, she will disappoint the Lin family and make people doubt whether this Lin family’s daughter is suitable for cultivation.
Moreover, will the reputation she has accumulated in Baicheng by acting chivalrously be ruined because of her rudeness?
Lin Qingxue sat cross-legged in the room, her whole body covered in cold sweat. She was putting too much pressure on herself.
She opened her eyes; there was no way to continue cultivating like this.
If she forced herself to continue, she would probably go mad.
Lin Qingxue pulled at her sweat-soaked collar and let out a long breath.
After wiping off her cold sweat, she decided to take a walk around.
But as soon as she stepped out, she saw her senior brother Wan Ruicai.
Senior brother and some disciples were all wrapped up for some reason.
And when asked, they couldn’t give a reason.
Lin Qingxue thought of greeting her senior brother, but she quickly retreated back to her room in fright.
She saw that there seemed to be another head growing on her senior brother’s neck.
When she wanted to confirm whether it was an illusion, she found that her senior brother’s figure had already disappeared.
