Chapter 464: [462] Who Knows Everything!
Watching August devour his food—especially the way he tore into that mousse cake—completely shattered Asagi's previous image of him. So this was how he ate?
"Hm? Asagi? What are you doing here?"
"I saw you living it up over here and figured I'd come hassle the rich guy."
"Living it up? You mean this? Want some? Come on, there's enough to share."
With that, he pulled out another mousse cake, identical in size to the one he was already eating.
Asagi was pretty familiar with August by now. She'd mooched plenty of treats off him—black forest cake, tiramisu, assorted puddings, Baumkuchen, you name it. He was always generous, handing her a whole portion every time.
What she didn't know was that August had an absurd stockpile of this stuff. Cakes and pastries from some kind of random draw system—he had more than he could count.
The high-tier draws started with hundreds of items at minimum. If luck was on his side, he could pull a thousand in one go. As a result, August was never short on food or drink.
"What do you want to drink? Don't hold back."
"Enough. I didn't come here to eat cake and drink coffee."
"Then why'd you come?"
"It's about Kojou."
"For Kojou? Are you here to play mediator? I'd suggest dropping that idea. What's between me and him isn't something a few words can fix."
"No, I want to know what Kojou's been hiding from me."
"Hm? You've noticed?"
"We've been friends for years. How could I not notice?"
August chuckled. Of course the tech-savvy genius would pick up on something. She'd just never dug too deep into it before.
"What do you want to know?"
"Everything. I want to know everything."
"That's too broad. I don't know everything about him."
"Fine, then just tell me what Kojou's hiding from me right now."
"Uh, just that?"
"Just that."
"Alright. There's only one thing Kojou's keeping from you."
"Go on."
"He's the Fourth Primogenitor."
"Huh?"
At first, Asagi didn't process it. She stared at August, her mind struggling to catch up.
The Fourth Primogenitor wasn't exactly unknown on Itogami Island, but it was more like an urban legend—akin to ghost stories or mythical figures.
Now August was telling her that Kojou was the Fourth Primogenitor. It was as absurd as someone claiming a friend was a monster from a horror movie.
"Wait, what did you say? Kojou's the Fourth Primogenitor?"
"Yep. About six months to a year ago, Kojou became the strongest vampire in this world—the Fourth Primogenitor."
"A year ago? The Fourth Primogenitor? How does a human even become that?"
"It's true. There's a lot involved, but all you need to know is that Kojou stumbled into it after waking up some sleeping figure and getting tangled in a mess. Next thing you know, he's the Fourth Primogenitor."
"Hey, don't say it so casually!"
"I don't know the full details. If you want specifics, I can't help you there."
"Kojou's really the Fourth Primogenitor? No wonder he's been so weird for the past six months."
It clicked for Asagi then. Kojou's odd behavior over the last half-year—skipping class, showing up late, leaving early, breaking every rule in the book, and doing it repeatedly—finally made sense.
August didn't interrupt, quietly eating his cake while she processed it all.
After a long while, Asagi let out a deep breath. August knew she'd figured it out.
"Sorted it out?"
"Sort of. Thanks, though."
"No big deal. It's not my problem anyway, and it's a bonus if it annoys Kojou."
"By the way, what's the deal between you and Kojou? Why the bad blood?"
"It's not exactly bad blood."
"Then why do you two act like mortal enemies every time you meet?"
"Let's just say I can't stand guys like him. He rubs me the wrong way. I've roughed him up a few times—beat him pretty bad once, actually—so it's no surprise he hates my guts."
"Uh… you beat him up?"
"Yeah."
Asagi was speechless. Beating someone up just because you didn't like them? Yep, that sounded like August.
She knew his personality well enough by now. He did whatever he felt like, and if he didn't like someone, he'd absolutely throw hands.
"Wait, you said Kojou's the Fourth Primogenitor."
"Right."
"So how did you beat him? Are you a primogenitor too?"
"Nope. I'm from the demon god clan, not a vampire."
"Demon god clan? Some kind of demon race? Never heard of it."
"You could say that."
August didn't bother elaborating. How could he explain it? Tell her he wasn't from this world and that he was the only one of his kind here? That wouldn't fly. Easier to just lump it under "demon" and call it a day. This world was full of weird races anyway—what was one more?
"So, there's really no fixing things between you and Kojou?"
"Nope. At the end of all this, we'll fight. If he wins, he can do whatever he wants with me—kill me, even. But if I win, I'll kill him without hesitation."
"Why?"
"Because I've got my eye on the Fourth Primogenitor's power too."
"Uh…"
Asagi didn't know how to respond. The power of the legendary strongest vampire—who wouldn't want it?
August didn't mind telling her all this. He wasn't worried about Kojou finding out and reacting.
In fact, he kind of hoped Kojou would hurry up and get stronger so they could duke it out. Killing him would not only wrap up a personal goal but also let August claim the Fourth Primogenitor's power.
As the embodiment of gluttony, swallowing up something like the Fourth Primogenitor was child's play.
Plus, it was a shame to let those twelve powerful familiars stay with Kojou. August had plans to find them a new master.
The Fourth Primogenitor's power was just a nice bonus for August, but for someone else, it'd be a game-changer.
And August already had a candidate in mind to inherit that power and those familiars.
A queen he'd chosen from a world that had already fallen to ruin.
