Chapter 627 - 627 When is your birthday?
Chapter 627: Chapter 627 When is your birthday?
Qiao Yin avoided staring at Gu Chengqiao for too long, to prevent him from becoming suspicious.
She quickly turned towards Gu Guotai, smiling as she spoke, “Old Master, I’m afraid I’m a bit late. You must have been waiting a while.”
Gu Guotai treated her respectfully, “Not at all, your timing is just right. Having Doctor Qiao come to the Gu Family to treat me is indeed a bit bothersome for you. Please, have a seat.”
Qiao Yin smiled and made polite conversation, before settling down on the sofa.
She pretended to glance casually at Gu Chengqiao, only to see him still staring blankly at her.
Qiao Yin withdrew her gaze, her conviction about her own judgement strengthening.
There certainly was something off with Gu Chengqiao!
Gu Guotai didn’t notice his son’s peculiar behavior, but he instructed his grandson, “Jing, why are you standing there stupefied? Haven’t you offered Doctor Qiao tea yet?”
Gu Jing replied cheerfully, “Got it, Grandpa!”
He then took the tea from the servant and placed it next to Qiao Yin, “Doctor Qiao, please have some tea. This is Grandpa’s prized collection, even I don’t get to drink it most of the time!”
Gu Guotai scolded him, “Why should I let you drink it? You don’t even appreciate tea, all you do is drink alcohol all day! Letting you drink it would be a waste!”
Gu Jing wasn’t bothered by the reprimand and laughed it off, “Doctor Qiao, see? My status in the family is really terrible; Grandpa doesn’t think much of me.”
Qiao Yin smiled at him, then turned to Gu Guotai and said, “Thank you for offering me tea, Old Master, I’m really honoured!”
After she finished speaking, she took a small sip of the tea and exclaimed in appreciation. “This indeed is great tea! It has a lingering, mellow taste and a full-bodied, rich aroma that lingers in your mouth, making you want more.”
Gu Guotai laughed, “I did not expect that you, being so young, appreciate tea. Jing, have someone pack some for Doctor Qiao so she can take it home when she leaves.”
Gu Jing happily accepted the task, and immediately called a servant to pack the tea, looking as happy as if it were for himself.
Qiao Yin thanked him profusely, then talked with Gu Guotai in a relaxed and unchanged manner.
Then, she heard Gu Chengqiao, who had so far remained silent, suddenly ask, “Doctor Qiao, how old are you?”
Qiao Yin turned to him and replied calmly, “I’m twenty-three.”
“When’s your birthday?”
“It’s in November.”
When Gu Chengqiao first asked Qiao Yin’s age, Gu Guotai didn’t react, as he himself had initially thought her too young when they met and doubted her medical skills.
But when he asked about her birthday, that was unusual.
Gu Guotai couldn’t help but glance at him, a trace of doubt surfacing in his mind.
Qiao Yin also found it suspicious that Gu Chengqiao was asking about her birthday, but she kept her cool.
Only the innocent Gu Jing didn’t realize anything. He was so excited that he blurted out, “Oh wow, Doctor Qiao, isn’t your birthday this month? What a coincidence, my birthday is also this month! What day is yours?”
“November 15th.”
“Mine is on November 20th, we are just five days apart!”
While Qiao Yin spoke, she did not look at Gu Jing, she was watching Gu Chengqiao.
He must have a reason for suddenly asking her about her birthday.
Unfortunately, this time he covered it up well; his face was expressionless.
It was as expected. After all, Gu Chengqiao, as the main authority of the Gu Family and the CEO of Guotai Corporation for twenty years, would have seen his fair share of ups and downs, and had long trained himself not to reveal his emotions.
It was just that he was so shocked when he first saw her, he had forgotten to control his reaction.
On seeing she wasn’t getting anywhere, Qiao Yin could only turn, smiling, towards Gu Jing: “Our birthdays are indeed close, what a coincidence!”
“It’s fate, Doctor Qiao! How about this, let’s celebrate our birthdays together this year? It’s more fun with more people, what do you say?”
Qiao Yin politely declined, “Thank you for your kind offer, Young Master Gu. However, I usually keep my birthdays simple, celebrating with my grandmother, who makes longevity noodles for me every year.”
