Chapter 14: Clash with the Beast
----
The ground beneath Kent trembled as the roar echoed through the forest. Birds scattered from the treetops, their wings cutting sharply through the eerie silence that followed.
"Alright," Kent muttered, rolling his shoulders. "Time to see what I'm really made of."
He tightened his grip on the straps of his backpack and followed the sound of the roar. The trees seemed denser now, their shadows stretching endlessly. The spiritual energy in the air grew thicker, almost suffocating.
It's evening right now. He wandered around the entire day. After a few minutes, Kent entered a small clearing bathed in moonlight. At the center stood a massive creature, easily three meters tall.
Its form was hulking and monstrous, with thick, scaled skin that shimmered faintly with spiritual energy. Its eyes glowed a deep red, and its claws looked sharp enough to shred steel.
"Holy crap," Kent whispered, his breath catching. "What is that… some kind of evolved bear?"
The beast roared again, its voice shaking the trees. It locked eyes with Kent, and for a moment, he could feel the sheer weight of its spiritual presence.
The system chimed faintly in his mind:
"Evolved Beast: Spiritual Bear (F-Rank Middle)."
"Middle F-Rank, huh?" same rank as mine. Kent muttered. "Alright, big guy. Let's dance."
The Spiritual Bear charged with surprising speed for its size, its claws carving deep gouges into the earth as it barreled toward Kent.
Kent darted to the side just in time, feeling the rush of air as the bear's claws swiped inches from his face.
"Whoa! You're fast for a big guy," Kent said, grinning nervously. "But let's see how you handle this!"
He swung a punch, aiming for the bear's side. His fist connected with a loud thud, but the beast barely flinched.
"Uh-oh," Kent muttered, stepping back quickly as the bear turned toward him, growling angrily.
The beast swiped at him again, its claws leaving deep marks in the ground as Kent dodged.
"Alright, so punching isn't gonna cut it," he muttered, thinking quickly.
Kent clenched his fists, focusing on the faint spark of fire energy within him. He could feel it burning in his chest, small but potent.
"Let's light things up," he said, smirking.
His fist 👊 ignited with a faint orange glow, spiritual flames aura licking his knuckles.
(No flame / fire :- because cause he can't use and control flame yet).
He charged at the bear, dodging another swipe and landing a flaming punch on its side.
"BOOM!"
The flames exploded on impact, causing the bear to stagger back with a loud roar.
"Yes!" Kent cheered. "it works!"
The bear turned toward him, its eyes blazing with rage. It roared again, the sound deafening, and charged once more.
Kent darted around the clearing, using his agility to stay out of the bear's reach. He landed another flame aura punch, then another, each strike chipping away at the beast's defenses.
The Spiritual Bear, now wounded and enraged, unleashed a burst of spiritual energy. The air around it shimmered, and its movements became even faster.
"Aw, come on!" Kent groaned, dodging another swipe. "Can't you just go down already?"
The bear lunged, and this time, Kent wasn't fast enough. Its claws grazed his arm, tearing through his jacket and leaving a shallow cut.
"Damn it!" Kent hissed, clutching his arm. "Alright, no more playing around."
He focused his fire energy again, this time channeling it into both fists🤜🤛. The flames burned brighter, illuminating the clearing.
"Let's finish this!" Kent yelled, charging at the bear.
The beast swung its claws, but Kent ducked under the attack and leaped upward, landing a powerful flaming uppercut to its jaw.
"WHAM!"
The impact sent the bear flying backward, crashing into a tree then ground. It let out a final roar before collapsing to the ground, its body limp.
Kent stood there, panting heavily, as the flames aura around his fists flickered out.
Ding!

"Phew," Kent muttered, wiping sweat from his brow. "That was way tougher than I expected. Good thing I'm awesome."
As Kent approached the fallen bear, he noticed a faint glow surrounding its body—a sign of lingering spiritual energy.
"Hmm," he thought. "This thing's soul might be worth something. But I can't use it. Nima, on the other hand…"
He grinned, already imagining her reaction.
When Kent returned home, Nima was sitting at the dining table, munching on a piece of 🥕. She looked up as he walked in, covered in dirt and scratches.
"What happened to you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Just… training," Kent replied casually. "Anyway, put on your shoes. We're going outside."
Nima blinked. "What? Why? Where?"
"You'll see. Trust me."
Are you taking me out for dinner? 🍽️ I am so happy. You are finally acting like a big brother.
Kent paused, thinking about his wallet. I didn't sell anything today. But I have some money from the scammer fire user guy.
I can treat her to a nice meal. Then Kent said. We will have dinner on our way home. But now I will take you somewhere else.
As they were at the border of the forest. Nima yelled, are you going to feed me wild vegetables now?
Kent said no. Just be patient. I have a surprise for you. After that we will go to your favourite 🍜 noodles place.
'I am trusting you for now.' But if you mess with me I will run-away. I saw it on TV today. A little sister's big brother always messes with her.
She runs away from home. Then live a princess life. Don't blame me if I become a princess.
"Kent said, pulling her ears, stop joking around. We are almost there."
The siblings returned to the clearing under the cover of night. The Spirit Bear's massive body still lay there, its spiritual energy faint but present.
"Whoa," Nima said, her eyes widening. "Is that… a monster Bear?"
"Yep," Kent replied, crossing his arms. "And you're gonna extract its soul."
Nima stared at him, then at the bear, then back at him. "Wait, you mean with my power?!"
"Exactly," Kent said. "Come on, give it a try."
Why are you trying to make me get a ugly thing? Can't you find something cute.
Didn't you play with the cockroach this morning? What's wrong with the Bear? It's stronger. Kent said.
Nima in anger bites Kent's arm like an angry crocodile.🐊
Awwwwh!
'Just do it if you want extra beef with noodles.'
Nima hesitated, but Kent gave her an encouraging nod. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and focusing on the dark space inside her.
Slowly, a chain comes⛓️. The chain pulls the spiritual Beat soul out. The Spirit Bear's faint spiritual energy begins to gather, forming a glowing orb above its body.
"Whoa," Kent muttered, watching in awe.
The chains pull the floating orb toward Nima, sinking into her chest. She opened her eyes, gasping softly.
"I did it!" she exclaimed, her face lighting up. "I have its soul!"
Ding!
System Notification:
"Soulbinder Slot: 1/1 filled. Spiritual Bear soul bound successfully."
Kent patted her on the head. "Nice work, Nima. You're a natural."
Nima grinned, let's go, I am hungry . "This is not cool! I can feel its ugly look! What else can I do with it?"
Kent shrugged. "Guess you'll have to figure that out. Just don't let it eat me in my sleep, okay?"
Nima giggled. "No promises."
As they walked back, Kent couldn't help but smile. "With her power and my system, we're gonna become the strongest," he thought.
But deep down, he knew the world was changing faster than anyone could predict.
