Naagin (rise of the serpent)

Chapter 1: CHAPTER ONE: School day

School Day

I am Naagin Cabreera. I am an orphan living with my Grandmother. My parents died in a bloody war between two communities. I was lucky to have survived. My Grandmother raised me up from infancy. I am in ss3 (senior secondary School 3). My Grandmother decided to enroll me in High Bright Academy (I had just entered ss3 in my former school)

....

I stepped into the school premises with my Grandmother. The school looks okay. It was large and had beautiful flowers around it. A car was parked in front of the primary school block,I guess it might be the Headmistress car. My Grandmother approached an average height student who was a girl

"Excuse me, where is the principal's office. Direct me there"My Grandmum asked politely.

"Good morning ma, this way please"the student said politely and maturely.

We carefully climbed the stair case and I had a good time admiring the school. We got to a door and I knocked. A female voice answered at the other end.

"Please, come in"said the female voice.

I stayed outside while my Grandmother made the necessary arrangements for my admission. We went back home and to come back tomorrow for me to start schooling there. I was excited. We were shown the school tailor who measured me and gave me my uniform. It is a black skirt and a white button- down shirt with a tie. I was also given books by the school bursar. I never knew the money used for my admission was a borrowed money. As we were going home, My Grandmother told me to focus on my studies and not to misbehave that she sacrificed a lot for my studies. I nodded.

I woke up as early as 4:30 in the morning. I had a good stretch and tossing over the mat before I got up. I said my prayers and rolled the mat. I did my chores and had my bath. I also fetched water for Mama from the public tap. My Grandmother who I always call Mama had already gotten ready to go to the farm before heading to the market. She gave me money for transport and I locked the door before going. My Grandmother also gave me words of advice

"Don't forget to face your studies, you hear me"She said looking at me sternly.

"Yes Mama"I said.

"That's good"She said smiling.

I had already gotten to the road and started trekking before a bike passed me. I beckoned on him to stop and he turned and stopped. I made the negotiations and entered the bike and it zoomed off.
