Chapter Eighteen: That Night 1

The silence that took over was awful. Very awful. Good thing Ovie broke the silence.

"I'm stepping out for some fresh air" he announced, breaking the silence

He stood displaying his sexy posture. He stared at me, giving me a sign to follow him.

"I'll go with him, old lady Papirus" I said, my eyes not leaving Ovie.

Old lady Papirus nodded.

"You both can go out but do not go down the hill. A lot of spirits in the forests don't like human presence" she said.

With that, I held Ovie's hand as we both left the hut. Coming out of the hut and breathing into fresh air,a smile appeared on my lips. I closed my eyes trying to feel the heat from the sun.

Opening my eyes, I couldn't find Ovie. That was odd. Ovie was just holding my hand a moment ago. I left the door walking into the openness of the hill. It's true! I really needed a shower. I hadn't taken my bath since morning. I left Ovie in the garden and walked back to the hut. Entering the hut, I bumped into old lady Papirus.

"I'm sorry old lady Papirus" I apologized.

"Find it yourself. You are the chosen one, you can handle that small tasks" she said and slammed the door behind her.

THAT NIGHT

"Naagin, come over to the kitchen. Let's prepare dinner" the old lady's voice called out from the kitchen.

"I'll be there in a sec" I said leaving Ovie in the sitting room.

"I'm going to Umuguor community tomorrow. Would you come?" Her attention on the frying eggs.

After dinner, old lady Papirus showed us our room. It was very close to her room. There were about three rooms in the hut. She had suggested that I and Ovie should have slept in different rooms but Ovie declined. He still had not gotten his gift and he was dying to have it.
